The steak went into the oven. Jill Roger wiped the pan clean again, quickly chopped up the onions and carrots. She put a small piece of butter in the pan, poured in the red wine. Instead of adding the onions and carrots right away, she picked up a sprig of rosemary and stirred it in the wine.
