Chapter 7
“Don’t rush. Although it’s just a simple bowl of noodles, it actually requires some skill to prepare properly. Plus, the noodles tend to clump together easily!” Gil Roger kept waving his hands to emphasize his point.
Chu Tian said with a smile, “Master Hoyle, don’t worry. I’ll arrange for someone to bring the ramen chef here along with all the ingredients, and we’ll prepare the food right here!”
Gil Roger stared in disbelief, barely believing his ears. They invited the ramen chef over, and even brought the ingredients with them. If that were true… but what about the ten-minute time limit?
He was wondering what was going on when suddenly, a rumbling sound came to his ears. He turned to look at Monica Bridges, who smiled coldly and said, “Grandpa’s vehicle is parked on the rooftop!”
I guess the only vehicle that can stop on the roof is a bicycle. Poverty really limits Gil Roger’s imagination.
“Helicopters!” Monica Bridges immediately explained, noticing Jill Rogers’ astonished expression.
“It’s just a means of transportation, nothing more!” Chu Tian said with great humility.
Monica Bridges and Uncle Gui naturally had no idea why the old man had suddenly changed like that. Only Chu Tian knew the truth: when he shook hands with Gil Rogers, a magical force flowed from Gil’s palm into his own. From there, it continued to flow through his meridians until it reached the Dazhui point at the back of his head.
If he could hold it for just a little longer, he wondered if that magical power could penetrate his spine, allowing the old injuries he’d suffered over the years to heal instantly.
Chu Tian rubbed his hands together, staring at Gil Roger with gleaming eyes. Such an old man… he could barely stop drooling!
“Is my hand a pig’s trotter? Why is this old man staring at my hand like that?” Gil Roger thought to himself.
“Mr. Tang, I think you should just call me Xiao Fei. That’s what everyone else calls me!” Jill Roger found the title “master” too awkward to use.
“How dare I! How could I possibly dare? I wouldn’t dare act presumptuously. Just now, when I shook hands with the master, I felt his magical energy surging around him. It must be at least…” Chu Tian wanted to say that Gil Roger must have hundreds of years of cultivation experience. But saying such things in front of his granddaughter would only lead to ridicule, so he held back his words.
The two of them were talking when a loud rumbling sound came from above again. Soon, someone brought in a very fat man. The fat man had a smug smile on his face, and, with sweat dripping down his face, he nodded and bowed to Chu Tian.
To serve the Tang family is the greatest honor for anyone in Boston!
“Master, thank you for your hard work!” Chu Tian said with a kind smile. The master was so flattered that he stumbled while walking, tripping over his left foot with his right, and ended up falling to the ground with a thud.
A servant quickly helped the ramen chef up. Uncle Gui, burping, led the chef inside.
“Master, it will take a while longer for the ramen to be ready. Have you noticed anything amiss with my body, Master?” Chu Tian didn’t give up and kept asking.
Gil Roger glanced at Monica Bridges. Chu Tian immediately turned to her and said, “Jiaojiao, go out and have some fun by yourself. Master and I need to talk about something important.”
Monica Bridges pouted, wriggled her little butt, and walked away with a huff.
“The old man seems to have serious injuries, and it appears that the injuries are in his cervical spine. The blocked blood flow in the cervical spine is preventing the old man’s magical energy from flowing properly. Therefore…”
Gil Roger spoke in a calm voice, but Chu Tian listened with dread. Gil Roger merely looked at him, shook his hand, and accurately identified the root of his illness!
“Master, do you have any good plans to save me?” Chu Tian asked Gil Roger with earnest eyes.
Gil Roger knew from the prompts in his ears that he could save him by unleashing the magic within him. But he understood that even the simplest tasks needed to be complicated in order to show off one’s skillfulness.
“Old man, I’ve been feeling quite tired lately. Healing you will require a great deal of magical energy. So please be patient. Let me rest for one night. You surely can wait, right?”
Upon hearing this, Chu Tian was overjoyed. At the same time, he admired Gil Roger even more. Gil Roger’s idea of using magic to heal himself was sound. But the claim that he could restore all the magic he had used in just one night was something even Chu Tian found difficult to believe.
“Does the master need any medicinal ingredients?” Chu Tian asked. Gil Roger thought for a moment and said, “Prepare some angelica dahurica, angelica sinensis, alisma orientale. Oh, and gastrodia elata as well!”
Gil Roger blurted out a few names of traditional Chinese medicines. Although Chu Tian was somewhat skeptical, he didn’t dare to disagree. He nodded repeatedly and said, “No problem. I’ll have someone handle it right away!”
While they were talking, Uncle Gui brought over a plate of tomato and egg-topped pasta on a delicate tray and placed it gently in front of Jill Roger.
Master Fat never expected that the ramen was being prepared for Gil Roger. He thought it was Chu Tian who would eat it. Although he stood respectfully behind Uncle Gui, his face showed a hint of disappointment.
Jill Roger looked up at her master. After picking up the chopsticks, she put them down again and asked, “Master, don’t you think there’s something missing from this bowl of noodles?”
Master Fat was immediately furious. He had originally wanted to make an appearance in front of Chu Tian. But with Gil Roger saying those things, he not only failed to make an impression, but actually ended up looking like a fool.
“Hey, you wretched beggar! If Lord Tang is kind enough to give you a bowl of noodles, you should be grateful. Instead, you come here to tease me!” The fat chef snorted in disgust.
He thought that Chu Tian might have been troubled by this little beggar. Given Chu Tian’s status, it wouldn’t be appropriate for him to take action. If he could resolve this problem for Chu Tian, wouldn’t that also be helping the Tang family?
“How dare you speak to the master in such a rude manner!” Chu Tian immediately reprimanded the fat chef. Then, he said to Uncle Gui, “Give him ten thousand yuan and tell him to get lost right away!”
Master Fat was too scared to say anything after being scolded by Chu Tian. But when he heard that he would get ten thousand yuan as compensation for his hard work, his face immediately lit up with joy.
“Master, you still haven’t answered my question. Do you know what’s missing from this painting? If you can answer, I’ll have Lord Tang reward you with another ten thousand!”
Master Fat immediately perked up. Looking at the covered noodles on the coffee table, he scratched his bald head. Tomatoes, eggs, green vegetables, onions…
There’s nothing else, right? Could it be…? He looked at Gil Roger with a troubled expression, then at Chu Tian. Subconsciously, he muttered, “Eating noodles without garlic is like talking nonsense!”
Bang! A loud noise startled everyone. Jill Roger slammed her hand on the coffee table and said, “That’s right! If you won’t give me garlic, how am I supposed to eat?”
The plump chef was overjoyed. He quickly took out a bunch of garlic from the front pocket of his apron. With nimble fingers, he peeled the garlic cloves and arranged them on a plate one by one!
Gil Roger glanced at Chu Tian. Chu Tian stared in amazement at the fat chef’s actions. Turning to Uncle Gui, he said, “Give me… give me another ten thousand!”
Only then did the fat chef realize how formidable Gil Roger really was. He narrowed his eyes and forced a smile, saying, “It’s all my fault for not recognizing your worth. Please, go ahead and enjoy your meal!”
Gil Roger gulped down a large bite of noodles, then picked up a piece and tried to put it in his mouth. With a crunch, he chewed it up.
The noble uncle couldn’t help but cover his nose, but under Chu Tian’s stern gaze, he quickly put his hand back down!
