Chapter 8
It was completely light outside. Gil Roger lay in bed, with his abdomen throbbing three inches below his navel. Damn it! What the hell is going on?
He sat up suddenly, realizing that he was lying on the small bed in his storage room. The cool breeze coming through the air vent was particularly refreshing. His storage room didn’t even have a fan, let alone air conditioning.
The only place where air could get in was that tiny vent. Every night, he suffered from the sweltering heat. Since he couldn’t afford a mosquito net, he was forced to let his own blood feed the mosquitoes in the storage room.
That night, he slept incredibly soundly. The blood flowed smoothly through his veins, as if his body was constantly drawing in coolness through the pores and integrating it into his bloodstream.
Getting out of bed, I noticed that there was a layer of mosquito corpses on the floor.
Last night, the Tang family’s private plane brought him and Lily Rogers back. I ate too much pasta that night, and after eating too much, one tends to feel sleepy. As soon as I got to the room, I fell asleep right away. It was really comfortable!
He quickly put on his clothes and stepped downstairs in his slippers. At this time, Lily Rogers surely hadn’t gotten up yet. The servants were wiping the railings with wet towels. This used to be his job. What was going on today?
“Be at the dining table earlier!” Although the maid didn’t look at him directly, it was clearly her who was speaking to him.
It’s easy to find out by going downstairs. Jill Roger rushed downstairs and indeed saw milk, bread, soy milk, and fried dough sticks on the table. Could it be that someone had deliberately prepared a mix of Chinese and Western foods, not knowing her taste preferences?
Who cares! I picked up the milk cup and drank it all in one gulp. Then I quickly shoved the bread into my mouth. Next, I mashed up the fried dough sticks and soaked them in the soy milk. With my chopsticks, I picked up one of the sticks and sucked it down, swallowing it just like eating a “slim stick.”
After burping, he strolled out of the villa. The morning air was truly fresh. Especially on mornings when he had eaten his fill. In the past, while others were eating, he would work. After they finished, he would eat whatever leftovers there were. If there were no leftovers, he could only go hungry until noon.
The community where Yuan’s villa is located is called Siji Yunjing. The name really suits the place well—the community is nestled against mountains and beside water. Although Yuan’s family belongs to the third tier of society in Boston, in Siji Yunjing, they’re among the wealthiest families around.
Their villa was located with its back to the mountains and facing the lake—a perfect spot. Jill Roger’s flip-flops made a rhythmic “tap, tap, tap” sound with each step she took.
“Qi disperses with the wind and is contained by water. This is what is meant by feng shui!” This is the definition of feng shui as described in the art of geomancy. It certainly refers to a place like Yuan Family Villa, which is a true feng shui treasure.
Moreover, Gil Roger suddenly felt a sense of clarity in his mind. Could this very place be ideal for practicing qi cultivation?
He walked slowly toward the lake’s edge and sat down cross-legged beside some steps. He focused his gaze on his nose, then on his heart. His palms were gently placed on his knees, with the palms facing upward.
An invisible energy immediately surrounded him, swirling around · continuously. It was drawn in through the top of his head and slowly exhaled through the soles of his feet.
Gil Roger could fully sense the exchange of energy between his own body and the outside world. However, ordinary people simply couldn’t perceive the intricacies of this process.
With a “slap,” he felt a blow on the back of his head. Jill Roger opened her eyes in confusion and turned around to see that her sister-in-law, Lily Roger, was staring at her with a furious expression.
“I went out of my way to ask the servants to prepare breakfast for you. Yet you’re ungrateful and even ate my portion too!” Lily Rogers’ newly developed chest rose and fell rapidly. This girl, already so grown up, still didn’t wear underwear while sleeping. She hadn’t even noticed the bulge beneath her tight pajamas.
Gil Roger’s face turned red with embarrassment. The more he tried to avoid looking in those directions, his curiosity drove him to keep staring at those places anyway.
“I thought it was all prepared for me. Besides, my appetite isn’t even enough to fill the gaps between my teeth!”
Before Jill Roger could finish speaking, Lily Roger raised her hand again to slap him. But this time, she didn’t strike him, because she noticed that Jill Roger’s arm moved slightly.
She immediately thought of everything that had happened the day before. She couldn’t help but wonder whether, if she slapped that worthless guy, he might not get hurt at all, while her own arm might break instead.
Just as Lily Rogers was about to turn around and leave, a Bugatti Veyron pulled up, followed by a Parador motorhome. The combined value of these two vehicles was forty million, more than enough to match the Yuan family’s luxury villa!
Needless to say, in Boston, no one other than the Tang family would dare to drive two such exorbitantly expensive cars around in such a conspicuous manner!
The car came to a steady stop beside Jill Rogers and Lily Rogers. The door of the Veyron opened, and a long, graceful leg appeared. Monica Bridges, with her flaming red lips and sunglasses off, smiled as she leaned against the car door and looked at Jill Rogers.
“Mr. Hoyle, my grandfather said he has an appointment with you and asked me to pick you up!”
Gil Roger pointed at Monica Bridges and stammered to Lily Roger, “I think I actually promised her!”
“Go and come back quickly! You’re supposed to mop the floor at home!” Lily Rogers said, clearly annoyed.
“Miss Yuan, right? If your family can’t afford to hire someone, please let us know. We, the Tang family, will cover the costs. Please don’t put Mr. Hoyle in an awkward situation!” Monica Bridges didn’t even look at Lily Rogers.
If it had been anyone else, Lily Rogers would have been furious by now, and might even have rushed in to fight. But with Monica Bridges, she simply didn’t have the courage to do that.
Gil Roger walked towards the RV with his head hung low. Ugh! He let out a scream—he had stepped in a pile of dog poop!
This… Wearing shoes made from dog poop and still selling Parazzo for 17 million? That makes no sense at all!
Gil Roger was hesitating when someone got out of the car, approached him, knelt down respectfully, and carefully wiped the poop off Gil Roger’s slippers with a tissue.
The man was so meticulous that he wiped Gil Roger’s lower legs countless times, paying attention to even the soles of his shoes. Meanwhile, another person stood nearby, holding a trash can in both hands, ready to dispose of the used tissues.
After cleaning up, both of them bowed and said in unison, “Please, Mr. Hoyle, get into the car!”
Gil Roger got into the RV while Lily Roger stood there, stunned. Wyllong turned around, and Palazzo followed. As they passed Lily Roger’s car, it suddenly came to a stop. The side window opened, and Gil Roger handed out a tray: “Here’s your breakfast!”
Lily Rogers’ first reaction was to refuse, but after seeing what was on the breakfast tray, she hesitated for a moment before accepting it.
Because she had seen the breakfast items on the tray in a magazine. These were prepared by a Michelin-starred chef hired by the Tang family!
Those who get up early for exercise have forgotten about working out. They gather in groups of three or five, pointing and discussing various things related to Palazzo.
“This must be the Tang family’s ‘mobile castle’! I’d only heard about it before, but today I’ve seen it with my own eyes!” Those who live in this neighborhood must be either wealthy or noble. Of course, it’s the Tang family that deserves such admiration from them!
“Who’s sitting in that car? Why does it seem like that good-for-nothing Yuan family member?”
“Isn’t that right? It seems like he’s about to make a big success and climb high by marrying into the Tang family!”
Gil Roger snapped the porthole shut, kicked off his slippers, placed his feet on the coffee table in the RV’s living area, and leaned back against the soft sofa. Before long, drool started to trickle from the corners of his mouth.
