Chapter 6
Jane's POV
“Burn in hell! Nathan.” My voice skimmed out fiercely. The sacrifice I had paid in the past came into remembrance. The pain of getting my heart broken only shattered me more when the thoughts kept coming into my head.
I gasped for breath as tears laced underneath my eyes. Going back to sit down, I grunted with displeasure. “I am not going to allow Nathan to crawl back into my life. He is a monster.” I declared. My voice barely above a whisper.
“Out of my way!” A deep masculine voice snapped fiercely. The voice was rebuking someone at the entrance of my door. I could tell that it was my secretary trying to stop the person from coming in.
The voice wasn't strange. It felt familiar and I couldn't fathom it would be, ‘Hades.’
“Door Forcefully opened!” I raised my eyes and looked straight to the door. An imposing masculine figure walked into my office.
“Do not touch me!” He yelled at the secretary and security who were trying to stop him.
“What is the meaning of this? Hades.” I snapped. The veins of my neck were visible.
“Control these dogs or I will tear this office apart.” Hades lashed out and he shot a deadly gaze at each of them.
“Leave him and excuse us.” I spoke aloud.
That made the secretary and the security let him be before leaving my office.
“What sort of embarrassment is that?” Hades snapped fiercely.
But I shot a condescending gaze at him. “You should ask yourself that question. And by the way, what are you doing in my company?” I glanced at him like a nobody from his head to his toe. My eyes shooting a deadly glare.
Hades was taken aback by my question. His eyes throbbed with shock. “How dare you ask me that? You've grown wings, haven't you?” He sucked his tongue.
I wiggled my head and turned, taking some steps to get back on my beautiful chair.
Hades moved swiftly and grabbed my wrist. “I can't stand here and you will go ahead to sit down. You are going to stand like this until I am done speaking. Do you understand?” His voice was manly, imposing and fierce.
I grunted with displeasure and snapped my wrist out of his grip. “You do not have a single right over this body, Hades. I can decide to sue you for sexual assault. Mind how you thread. I am no longer under your rulership.” My voice filled the room and it forcefully passed down Hades' hearing.
“Wow!” Hades stood stunned as those words slipped out of his lip and he remained in silence. I could tell he was short of words.
He looked at me with disgust before taking a seat before my table and looked into my eyes to speak. “I had thought your company would crumble when you cut ties with your father and also stopped our marriage. How are you able to climb the ladder of success without our help? Look at you! You are trending everywhere.” He remarked, gnashing his teeth before me. While his eyes searched mine.
My lip curved with a smile while I adjusted myself on the chair with pride. “Are you surprised that I can succeed without your influence?” I arched my eyebrows and licked my lips.
Hades puffed out breath from his lips. “Tell me, what is the secret behind your success?” His eyes enlarged as he stared at me in desperation.
The left hand side of my cheek expanded with a smile. “I bet you do not want to ask that question. What happened to your ego?” I widened my eyes.
The concentration in Hades' face faded and he was frustrated by my words. He looked at me with anger and he refrained backwards, leaning on the chair he sat on. He cleaned his nose and he was short of words for a while. He stared at me in silence.
Looking at his silence, I knew I got on his nerves and I do not care.
“I've got a lot of work to do. If you don't mind, kindly leave my office.” I spoke casually with a calm voice.
He was taken aback by my diction. “Are you asking me out of your office?” His eyes bulged with surprise retelling his pupils.
“Would you like me to involve the company security to kick you out?” I was harsh with my words due to what I have faced in his hand in the past. This looks like the best time to have my revenge on him.
“I won't sit here to have you insult me!” He shot a condescending glare at me and he rose on his feet with hateful venom in his eyes.
I kept a watch on him until he was out of my office.
I lowered my gaze and breathed out heavily while I used my hand to clean my nose. The question he asked me kept coming into my mind. “Why did you ask that question, Hades.” I muttered above a whisper while my finger landed on my table softly. ‘Tap, Tap, Tap.’ My fingers sounded.
There was a cup of coffee beside me and I just noticed it was there. Touching the cup, the coffee was already going cold but because it wasn't covered I lost my appetite for drinking it.
My stomach rumbled and I had to visit the toilet, just to ease off. While I was in the toilet, my door creaked slowly.
Someone is sneaking into my office. Doesn't this person know I am in the office?
Totally agitated, nervous and eager to know what was happening. I wiped my butt and stepped out only to come in contact with a man in a mask checking through my drawer. He wasn't quite paying a lot of attention to his surroundings.
I slowly stepped forward and I made sure I was in a close range with him. I knew he couldn't escape me.
“What are you desperately looking for?” I slammed my hand on his back while that question trailed down my lips.
