Chapter 5 SOMETHING ABOUT HER
Ryan's POV
My eyes narrowed at her immediately. She turned to look at me, and I immediately got the whiff of her perfume.
“Ryan, this is my daughter Allis.” Mr. Armando said, and I gave him a small nod. Knowing her name wasn't going to change my decision.
My mind went back to that night like I never left there. Her eyes were wide, and I was more than sure that she recognized me as well.
My cock was more than ready to react again.
Fuck.
She immediately slipped back to her professional look.
Mr. Armando had always talked about his child taking over the CEO position. But still, nothing could have prepared me that it was her. The same one night stand that I had spent years looking for. It took a lot for me not to call her out, pin her to the table and ask her if she didn't recognize me.
“Ryan?” She asked calmly, and I gave her a stiff nod.
“I don't see an issue why you should be concerned with whoever my father chooses to be his CEO.” Her chin was tipped, and i couldn't help but smirk.
She was still as fiesty as ever. No wonder she was hard to forget.
I couldn't help but cock an eyebrow. “Your character is enough reason. Secondly, is this when you're supposed to come to the office? As far as I remember, your father has been talking about bringing you here for the past month. You're finally here, and this how you address one of the important people in the pack. Very funny.”
She cocked her head to the side, and her father was already starting to pay attention to the both is us. When she nuiced the way he was looking at her, she finally went silent.
“Nevermind,” she quickly said, pressing her lips into a thin line, turning to look at her dad. “Can I see you outside?”
He gave her a small nod, following her outside. They had barely headed outside, but I could still hear them.
“You can't just let him decide what is to be done in the company. I'm sure that you know I can handle it.”
Mr. Armando nodded in response. “I know that. But he's a major shareholder. Maybe you should just try talking things out with him.”
She exhaled, and her chin was tipped even higher. I was seated by the time she walked in again.
Her hands were on her waist as she stood in front of me.
“Do you have any conditions to accept everybody else's decisions?” She askedx making me smirk.
“I do, actually,” I said, leaning back in my chair. The other people in the room were obviously enjoying our little banter. That was the main reason why they were still sitting there even after their votes were already gotten.
“Then you should spill.”
“You will become CEO on the condition that you win a deal for the company. And I will specifically supervise.”
She narrowed her eyes at me, but she finally gave me a quick nod. “Be prepared to be wowed.”
She turned on her heels and headed out. But on her way out, I immediately saw her legs shake. That was the little assurance that I needed, that I still had an effect on her.
The meeting was soon over, and I headed to my office where my best friend was already waiting for me. He had a smirk on his face, and I knew that he must have heard something.
“What is it?” I asked Bright, and he shrugged.
“Well, I'm just shocked that you can get in a banter with somebody. A woman for that matter.”
I practically collapsed on my chair running a hand through my forehead.
“She's someone from your past, isn't she?” Bright asked again, and my lips were pressed into a thin line. I hated the fact that he could see right through me.
“You remember the girl I've been looking for, all these years?” I asked, and he gave me a small nod.
“That's her.”
His hands were on his mouth, and I could tell that even he was shocked.
“The CEO’s daughter?” He asked, and I nodded. I didn't even need her to carry out the little test. I just knew that she was going to pass. But it was worth it. She was supposed to go through some kind of pain. Some kind of struggle to actually prove herself.
“The CEO is going to go crazy is he hears about it.”
I wasn't even worried about that. Mr. Armando wasn't going to care about that. It was the way she suddenly disappeared off the face of the earth that I was worried about. For five whole years. None of it was normal. Not after she left a cheque by my bedside.
It was even more funny that idnditn cash the cheque in. I kept it, and it was the reminder that I had of her. But now, she was right in front of me again.
After all these years.
I looked over at Bright again. “I need you to carry out some kind of investigation on her. I want to know everything about her. What she had been up to for the past five years.”
Bright nodded, and then he paused. “I hope you remember that you're engaged,” he said, and I felt my throat close up.
Yes, I was engaged to Ellie Vaughn. The woman that my mother saw right to force against me as a wife. And now, I was expected to start planning a wedding at the earliest convenience.
But now that Allis was back, something told me thatbthe wedding was going to be postponed for a while.
“Yes,” I said, answering Bright. “I'm well aware. And I still need you to carry out the research on Allis.”
He pressed his lips into a thin line, but he agreed either way. Once again, I got my way.
