Chapter 7 The picture

Elara

Over the weekend, the picture went viral, until it was gone, I woke up Sunday morning and it was off the internet, every comment on my page was suddenly deleted

I will fix it

His words filed my mind through the day

If not who, who could do it?

My heart fluttered with the thought of someone else taking care of my problems, I always hated being a burden but for the first time, it felt good sitting down and having everything taken care of.

Yet one thought bothered me.

Why did he care so much?

Because the post ruins his image, my subconscious resorted

Every girl commented badly on my page, many called me a bad person, and some even tagged Dylan in this, saying maybe he is right about me, it’s one thing to be in a relationship with a hockey player, it’s another thing for the whole school to assume I am dating Landon Hayes.

The Landon Hayes

I even got a call from Clara and I promised to explain everything to her, some parts of it at least.

I didn’t dread waking up and going to school, it didn’t matter to me.

I went through worse, after what Dylan did to me? I had to go to school the next day, of all the times to have a horrible rumor about me, it happened during exams.

The first day, I walked in with a sweater and scarf covering my face, I did that for most of the exams until one day I woke up, got dressed the way I wanted and didn’t care if  I showed my face

They saw my confident,

They realized they didn’t bother me anyone

They let me be.

—-

I did the same today. I got dressed, I always left early do school, to open the windows to my art studio, and every day after school, instead of going home, we stayed there for another hour to paint.

“Elara.” Clara smiled the mommet she saw me.

I was glad to see her the mommet I walked into school.

I didn’t miss the glance that everyone exchanged yet unlike what happened with Dylan, no one uttered a single word,  not even whispers.

Did Landon Hayes have this much control over every one.

“Ready for class.”

“Dreading it.” I mumbled against my breath. “Where is Olivia? Paul and Nathan.” I asked.

“Nathan is at the orthodontist, he will be here later on. Paul is in class and Olivia has severe cramps, she won’t be coming today.”

I haven’t checked my phone since the photo was posted, I even missed a few calls from every one, I had to pick Clara’s own; she was the only one I knew would ask if I am fine before bombaring me with a thousand questions.

I glanced at her with a smile.

As we walked down the hall, I didn’t miss the death glare from Zara.

Landon’s ex.

The ex cheerleader and last I heard she joined the dance team, she has a lot of talent, I would give that to her

“I think Zara wants you dead.” Clara spoke and I smiled at her

Through out my classes, every thing went fine, I aced the pop quiz, we had two of them, and after that it was finally time for lunch.

Clara and I sat with Olivia, Paul and Nathan, but today it was only me, her and Paul

“Come on don’t gate keep Elara, tell us how you scored Landon Hayes.”

“We are not dating, we just happened to bump into each other in the coffee shop, and it’s a famous coffe shop.”

“Never heard of it.” Paul spoke and I rolled my eyes  at him.

We were half way into the conversation when I noticed a hand on my table, my eyes darted up and there he was.

The man I once thought I loved.

The man that is behind every of my sadness,

The man that told the whole school lies.

Dylan Ried.

“Elara.” Dylan smiled. “I came to give you my condolences. I heard the club will be closed off, I know how hard you worked for it and how much you love it.” He smiled.

Even his more presence caused a wave of anger to flow through my heart.

He didn’t ask, instead he settled on the chair in front of me, with the biggest smile on his face.

I know why he is here? Because of the picture, I am sure he saw the tags, he read the comments, he laughed his butt off and not of all, he felt anger.

“Oh you didn’t hear. We get to keep the club.” Clara smiled and his smile dropped.

“We get to keep the club Dylan, at least we are not going to lose it for a long time, and don’t worry about it, even if we do, I will find a way to get it back, you know I always find a way to make things right.”

“You always do.” He muttured against his breath. “Mind telling me how you got the club back, last I checked we are using the building and I am not sure principal Heather will grant your wish just because you asked.”

“She won’t.” I whispered.

“You are the mastermind, I am sure you will be able to find out just how we are able to get the club up and running.” Paul smiled

They all hated him.

The moment his eyes met mine, my eyes darted away and it met someone’s walking into the room

Landon Hayes.
