Chapter 3 CHAPTER THREE
EMILY’S POV
I screamed as I rolled down the slope of the mountains, my heart beating erratically. sharp edges of the mountain scratched against my skin, as I rolled down to the expanse of forest below.
I tried to use my hands to cover my face from the thorns, holding back my scream as my body collided with a huge tree, stopping my descent.
I hold my hands against my mouth, hiding my body with the tree, as growling comes from behind me.
Shit!!!!! Where was Roman?
I tried to use my link to find Roman, but could not find it. With us being cast out of our pack, our link was broken. I knew Roman would find me, if he was still alive. The smell of my blood would lead him to me, but would also lead the rogue wolf to me too.
I held my breath, listening. Instead I heard nothing, I released my breath, before peeking out from behind the tree. Everywhere was clear, no sign of the wolf that had been chasing me earlier. I frowned, wondering if the wolf had given up.
It was getting a bit brighter now, making it easier to see what’s in front of me. I slumped against the tree, letting out a sigh of relief as I examined my leg.
It was swollen, with a bit of my flesh missing. The wolf had really bitten deep and if I didn’t treat it on time, it was going to be infected, as I didn’t have the fast healing other wolves did. I tore a piece from my clothes, using it to tie around my legs.
I stood up, wondering if I should go back to the cave to look for Roman. Slowly, I walked, trying to figure out the way back to the cave.
I paused, looking around. The unusual silence of the forest was eerie, making every nerve in my body very alert. I sniffed, my nose catching the scent of blood, a lot of it by the smell.
I followed the scent, stopping as I stared at the scene before me. The black wolf that had been chasing me, was dead and not in a pretty way. Its blood soaked the ground, its head cut clean from its body. I looked around in fear, wondering what could have possibly done this.
I stiffened as I felt the air around me shift, my heart pounding as four huge grey wolves came out from the shadows, flanking me from all directions. I crouched slowly, keeping my eyes on all of them, as I took on a fighting stance.
Please!!This is the right time to show yourself. I thought, begging the shadow that is my wolf.
Before the wolves could pounce on me, a white large wolf barged in front of me, protecting me as it growled at the wolves. I sighed in relief, recognizing Roman's wolf instantly.
Together we fought the wolves, or should I say Roman fought them while I struggled with my leg, blocking every attack that came my way. I dodged an attack from one of the wolves, who has been keen on killing me. Losing my focus, as I had a loud howl from Roman.
He had been bitten on his sides, blood pouring out as he struggled to fend the wolves fighting him. Without thinking I ran forward, jumping on one of the wolves, my hands gripping its neck tightly, refusing to let go as the wolf struggled.
Roman gained the upper hand again, fighting with all his might, but these rogues were more stronger and calculated.
I screamed, as the wolf I had clung on threw me back, with enough force that my back hit the tree behind me. I gritted my teeth tightly, clutching my side as pain reverberated through every pore of my body. Without giving me enough time to stand, the wolf tore into my stomach, wrenching another heart felt scream from me.
Weakly, I struggled against the wolf as it dragged me, my hair between its strong teeth. Roman tried to get to me, fighting the wolf with all his strength as he tore into the neck of the wolf beside him, tearing its head off.
I clutched my stomach, pressing one of my hands down on it to stop the blood pumping out, though it was of no use as the wolf had bitten really deeply. My other hand held my hair, crying as the wolf dragged my body around.
The other wolf jumped on me tearing into my second legs. Roman!!! I screamed out, my voice breaking as I called for his help. I didn’t want to die here, in this forest, without seeing Stefan’s face again.
Before the wolf could tear into my neck, Roman flung on the wolf, his claws tearing into the side of the wolf. I crawled weakly, dragging my body away from the fighting. Roman had killed two of the wolves, remaining the two wolves he was fighting aggressively with.
I clenched my teeth, dragging my battered body, crying as I cursed my wolf. I needed it, and yet it made no appearance, I was weak, and if not for Roman would be long dead. I didn’t deserve to be by Stefan's side, or called a werewolf.
I stood shakenly, my hands clutching my stomach as I dragged my foot. Suddenly one of the wolves jumped in front of me, barring its teeth, as it growled at me menacingly.
I backed away, fear clawing at me at the situation I was in. I was standing at the edge of a cliff, far far down below, I could see the crashing wave of the water against hard rocks. I glanced towards where Roman was, watching as he fought against the other wolf, gaining the upper hand as he tore the wolf head out. He howled in victory, before glancing towards me.
I smiled tiredly, saying a quiet thank you to him, as the wolf advanced towards me. As much as he would try, he wouldn’t get to me on time and I saw the realization on his face, as he shifted into his human form, blood all over his body as he ran towards me, screaming my name.
The wolf barred its ugly teeth, before slamming hard against me, throwing the both of us over the cliff.
Emily!!!!!!!!! Roman shouted, diving from the cliff, without hesitation after me, his hands reaching out for me. It was too late though, I watched him as I fell, tears flowing from my eyes.
Why would he jump after me? Now we were both going to die.
The strong wind swept my hair around me, I closed my eyes, my thoughts wandering to Stefan.
Please save us moon goddesses, I don't want us to die.
That was my last thought, before my body plunged into the cold water, the hash force of it, rendering me unconscious.
