Chapter 4 CHAPTER FOUR
EMILY'S POV
Groaning, I licked my chapped lips, blinking as I slowly opened my eyes. The first thing I noticed was the IV drip connected to my right hand, as I raised it up, shielding my eyes from the bright light coming from the open window.
The second, was the unfamiliar hospital room I was in. Slowly I sat upright, resting my back against the headboard of the bed I was in. I was wearing a hospital gown, with bandages around my tummy and legs.
I examined my body, surprised that most of the bite wounds had completely healed up. I frowned, coughing slightly at how dry my throat felt. Thankfully, whoever brought me here had left a jug of water by my bedside.
I took the jug, drinking greedily from it, not bothering to use the cup that had been placed beside it.
The last thing I remembered was falling from that cliff, and Roman diving after me. I widened my eyes at the thought of Roman, wondering if he had also made it.
The creaking sound of the door opening, made me turn my head. A tall, blond haired woman came in, she was putting on a lab coat over her dress, her hair pulled back with some curls framing her beautiful face. She paused, her soft green eyes widening at the sight of me, drinking messily from the water jug.
I slowly dropped the jug back, embarrassed to be caught in such situations.
She walked closer to me, smiling as she checked the Iv drip.
““ How are you feeling Emily? "She asked me, adjusting the bed, so I was sitting straighter and more comfortable.
“I feel better,” I croaked out, clearing my throat, as I wondered how she knew my name.
As if reading my thoughts, she smiled. “Your mate Roman kept calling you Emily, and refused to leave your side, I had to sedate him.””
I blushed, ““He is not my mate.” I said, but my very good friend. Where is he please? Is he alright?
““Am sorry dear with the way he had been hovering over you, everyone just assumed he was your mate.”
I smiled, I could imagine the scenario.
““Anyway my name is Sheila Clark, and I am the pack doctor of the Red Moon pack.”
I widened my eyes, the Red Moon pack was on the other side of our territory. How did we end up here? In fact, Stefan had been trying to form alliances with them as they were one of the strongest packs in the whole world.
Emily!!!! I looked towards where the sound of my name came from, a big smile on my face at the sight of Roman.
He rushed towards me, hugging me tightly.
Thank you moon goddess he praised, his hold tightening. I rolled my eyes, hugging him back, happy that we were both still alive.
“That’s enough Roman, let the patient breathe.” Sheila said, chuckling.
““Am so sorry, are you alright?”” he asked sheepishly.
“Am ok," I responded, smiling at him.
Sheila, after checking that everything was alright, left us alone.
““How long have I been unconscious? "I asked Roman, as he sat on the chair close to me.
““Three months he replied,”” sighing softly, As he ran his hands through his hair.
I take in his appearance, noticing how worn out he looked. His once happy eyes were now dull, his dark hair was longer now, reaching his shoulders. His muscles were more filled out now, with the shirt he was wearing clinging to his form, and his skin completely healed from every wound he had gotten from the fight.
I glanced away, wow!!! three months I muttered my eyes drifting around the room as my mind wandered.
““How did we get to the Red Moon pack?” I asked him.
““I don’t know Emily” he said, " I had also woken up here.
Roman, then proceeds to explain how he had been found at the water cave, close to the boundary of the Red Moon pack. The pack had taken him in, treating his injuries. He said it took him two weeks to recover, before finally waking up. He had asked for me immediately after waking up, unfortunately, they didn’t know, as he had been the only one that had been found.
He searched for me for a while, with the help of the pack. Almost giving up, then one day, some younger pups that had been playing at the water cave discovered my body there, running back to the pack to alert them.
I looked dead when they found me, he had also thought I was. My body was so cold and almost frozen, my injuries had been seriously infected and swollen, my legs being worse off. The pack doctor Sheila hadn’t given up, and had made it her mission to make sure I made it. I was in a coma for three months, with everyone believing I would not make it.
It was really a miracle I did.
I sniffed, drying the tears that ran down my face. Lately there was so much to cry about, everything had been going downhill since we had been banished. If it was not for Roman, I wondered if I would have made it this far.
“Roman, I have an idea," I said, smiling widely.
“What is it Emily?” he asked me, sitting upright.
““We can go back!! I exclaimed,” All we need is to find a way for the Red Moon pack to agree to an alliance with Stefan. Am sure he would take us back, and then we can figure out everything and finally clear our name.
Roman sighed, his jaws clenched tightly, sorrow in his eyes as he looked at me.
I frowned, wondering why he was not as excited as I was.
“What is it?” I asked him, as I closed my eyes, the excitement I had felt minutes ago shimmering away.
““Don’t you feel anything different he asked?” Staring at me intently.
I opened my eyes, my gaze focused on Roman. His dark blue eyes stared right back, waiting for me to realize what he was talking about.
““Feel what?”” I asked, looking around.
Roman stood up, pacing back and forth, as he ran his hands through his hair.
I watched him, my discomfort growing as he paced around. I wonder what it was that had made Roman this agitated.
““Just say it please and stop pacing, you are making me uncomfortable.””
Roman stopped, coming to sit with me on the bed, before gently taking my hands in his, his thumbs massaging my hands softly. He gazed at me, an unreadable expression on his face.
I glanced away, blushing slightly at the intensity of his gaze. This close up, the blue in his eyes were darker and more beautiful.
I was surprised that I had not noticed it before.
““Emily he whispered softly, drawing my eyes back to him.”” I don’t know why, but I could feel the tears coming out of my eyes. Roman lifted up his hands, wiping my tears away.
“I'm sorry, I said to Roman, I don’t know why I am crying.”
““Just tell me Roman, what is it?””
“I want you to know that I will always be by your side, no matter what Roman says.
My heart thumped hard against my chest, wondering what it was that made Roman this difficult to say.
“Just tell me, I pleaded with Roman.”
““You are pregnant Emily, "Roman whispered softly, his grip on my hands tightening. I am surprised you can’t feel it yet he said, considering you are three months pregnant.””
“What!!!!” I whispered, my thoughts clouding up as shock ran through my body.
I am three months pregnant!!!!?
