Chapter 5
OLIVIA'S POV
I stood in front of the Priest with Alpha Mateo beside me. My father sat with Luna Diana among the other Alphas from the neighbouring packs.
Emma and Ethan sat together giving me spiteful and wicked looks. Betrayers.
They kept whispering words to each other and other people seated causing more disgusted eyes to stare my way.
"Do you, Alpha Mateo, take Olivia of the Western pack as your mate and Luna?" He asked starring at Alpha Mateo.
"I do." Alpha Mateo answered immediately without a blink and Luna Diana smiled.
"Do you Olivia take Alpha Mateo as your mate and Alpha?" the priest asked, diverting his gaze to me.
I gulped down as Sweat formed beads on my forehead. I wasn't sure if I was ready to be a mate to someone who didn't love me. For years I believed in true love and mate bond but I guess the moon goddess had other plans for me.
"I–."
"Wait!" I made to speak but stopped as Emma shouted from her seat.
"How could you lie to us Olivia, Alpha Mateo isn't the one who you slept with, I know you're lying!" she uttered, raising her finger to me.
"What are you talking about Emma, seat back!" Father yelled, finding his feet as well. The guests were already exchanging whispers and murmurs because of her.
"I have proof Father, take a look!" she still spoke as she pulled her phone out, She gave me a sly smirk as she turned to the Alphas and showed them her screen.
My palms got sweaty as I rubbed them together watching them gasp with shock. I glanced at Alpha Mateo but I only got a blank feedback. The steel mask glued to his face made his emotion unreadable.
"We all know Alpha Mateo has always worn a mask, no one has even seen his real face but this man with my sister has no mask on, Why lie Olivia?" Emma faced me with preying eyes like she was ready to eat me up right there.
Father already buried his face disgraced in his palm.
"Why would Alpha Mateo lie to us?"
"We don't want her as our Luna, what will she teach our children?"
The pack members murmured, throwing their harsh words at me. I bowed my head in shame as heavy tears gathered in my eyes just waiting to fall.
"You had the nerve to sleep with another man after being my mate and you still plan to get married to another, Have some shame Olivia!" Ethan spat, literally spitting to the ground.
"Enough!" Alpha Mateo said with a loud growl causing the ground to shake under my feet.
"Mother, I think it's time I reveal my face to them, don't you think?" He said.
MATEO'S POV
I couldn't stand to watch them ridicule Olivia because I hid my identity. Her sister was ready to be little to her if I didn't do something but how could I shut them up if I had no proof.
"Are you sure son?" Mother asked me to walk up.
The only reason I even wore the mask was because of what it signified for my pack, It was a warning. A Barrier and a reminder to our rivals that we weren't a pack to know of,rather Feared.
But seeing Olivia's fears, none of it mattered, I reached for the ropes slowly untying it as I let it drop to the ground.
"Do you have anything else to say?" I asked as I ran my hands through my hair. The shocked expression on their faces didn't go unnoticed. They all stood with jaws dropped, mesmerised by how handsome I was.
"You're...you're.. you're him?" Olivia shuttered petrified of the shocking twist. I planned to tell her after the ceremony but now I can't.
"My son's relationship with his Mate has been dragged out publicly today because of your daughter Alpha David, guards seize them!" Mother said commandingly and the guards rushed to grab Olivia's sister and the miserable fool beside her.
They kept begging and pleading as they were dragged out of the ceremony, no one messes with my family and goes free.
"Does anyone have anything else to say to her?!" I asked loudly but they all went mute and sat back quietly.
"Do you Olivia, Take Alpha Mateo as your mate and husband?" the priest asked for a moment of long silence.
Olivia remained silent as she stared down at her palm, unable to say anything.
"I...I...I.. " She stammered staring into my eyes. She still had disbelief and shock written all over her face.
"I need to speak with Alpha Mateo privately first." she stated, causing the priest to groan.
"Come on." I said and led her to the back.
"Why didn't you tell me, you knew who I was, didn't you?" she asked sharply.
"I did." I answered unfazed by her angry gaze.
"It has to change,The clause about our divorce it has to change." she said with a deep frown desperation laced in her tone.
"Why does it have to change, it will remain as it should be." I said calmly.
"That's impossible, that clause needs reconsideration." She said firmly still standing her ground, she was so scared of me with the mask now she's something else.
"Nothing has to change!" I said keeping my tone calm.
"I'd rather not Marry you!" she shot!
"in your dreams, you're mine and i won't allow changes!" I snapped, dragging her arm and she winced.
"Let me go!" she yelled, pushing my hands off.
"I'm pregnant with your child, you should think twice about how you treat me, you'll have a Mother to answer to if you hurt Me!" bloody defiance.
Was she storing her Audacity for now?
"You're the first to defy me, interesting. Alright let's renegotiate." I was truly amazed by her sudden confidence.
"I have no plans on taking on a true mate, so our contract continues for the next three years then you'll fulfil your obligations as my Luna, then you'll fail and we'll continue with the divorce as planned. And the baby? We'll find a solution when we get there." I stated firmly. The tension between us tightened as I stepped closer to her.
"No further Arguments." I muttered as she parted her lips to speak. She blinked rapidly, lips trembling in fright. The fire in my eyes dug deep into hers causing her to retreat without another word.
"Good, Now let's go. We have a wedding to conclude." I said as a victorious smirk formed on my lips. I stared down at her once and turned leaving her to digest the weight of my words.
