Chapter 6 The Hidden Room

The palace was noisy. Guards ran through the halls. Servants whispered. A tall guard bowed before the king. His face serious.

“Your Highness,” he said. “Elara… she has escaped. She was helped by Draven.”

The king’s face went pale. His hands tightened. “What?” he shouted. His voice echoed through the hall. “Draven? The head guard? How could this happen?”

The guard bowed again. “He let her go, sire. But no one else saw him do it. He is still loyal. But… he helped her escape.”

The king slammed his fist on the armrest. “Punish him! He will pay!”

Kael stood beside him. His face hard. “Father… do not kill him. He is loyal. He only wanted to protect her.”

The king turned sharply. “Protect her? She is dangerous! She has forbidden magic! He is weak if he lets her escape.”

The guard swallowed. “He will be punished, Your Highness. But he can stay as head guard. For now.”

The king’s eyes narrowed. “Very well. But he will watch the palace. And he will answer to me. No mistakes.”

The guard bowed. “Yes, Your Highness.” He left the hall quickly.

Kael watched the door close. His fists clenched. His chest tight. He wanted to go after Elara. But he knew he could not.

Meanwhile, far under the palace, in a hidden tunnel, Elara ran. Her body tired. Her chest heaving. Sparks of magic jumped under her sleeve. She pressed her hands tight.

The trees were dark. The moonlight faint. Draven ran beside her. “Almost there,” he whispered. “Just a little more.”

Elara nodded. Her legs burned. Her hands shaking. The mark under her sleeve pulsed bright. She wanted to hide it. She pressed her palms to her chest.

Suddenly, a blue light appeared in front of them. Bright. Soft. Calm.

“Elara,” a voice said.

She stopped. Her heart jumped. She looked up. The Oracle. Cloaked in blue. Eyes shining. She held her hand out.

“Oracle…” Elara whispered.

“You are safe,” the Oracle said. “Come with me. I will teach you. You must learn.”

Elara looked back. The trees dark. The wind cold. Her magic burned hotter. Sparks jumping.

Draven looked worried. “We should move fast,” he said.

The Oracle shook her head. “No. She must see this first.”

Elara stepped forward slowly. Her chest tight. Her legs shaking. She pressed her sleeve tight.

The Oracle touched her shoulder. “Your magic is strong. It is forbidden. But it is yours. You must control it. You are not like the others. You have a destiny.”

Elara’s eyes widened. “Destiny? Me?”

“Yes,” the Oracle said. “You are the last of the forbidden line. Your kingdom fell long ago. You are the heir. And your throne waits.”

Elara shook her head. “I… I don’t understand. I am just a servant. Just a girl. I cannot be… a queen.”

The Oracle smiled faintly. “You are more than a servant. You have magic they fear. You have power they cannot touch. But they will try. You must be ready.”

Elara pressed her hands to her chest. Her fingers trembled. The magic under her sleeve burned bright. She hugged herself tight.

Draven stepped forward. “Oracle, we should move. The guards will come looking for her.”

The Oracle shook her head. “They will come. But we have time. A few hours. She must learn first.”

Elara took a deep breath. Her chest heaving. Sparks of magic jumped from under her sleeve. She pressed her hands tight.

The Oracle led her to a hidden door. Stone walls dark. Torches faint. She opened it. Behind was a small room. Strange symbols on the walls. A soft glow in the air.

“This is your place,” the Oracle said. “Here you will learn. Here you will train. You will not be caught here. Not yet.”

Elara stepped inside slowly. The air warm. Her chest tight. Her magic burning. Sparks jumping.

The Oracle touched the wall. Symbols glowed brighter. “Your power comes from here. You are connected to your ancestors. To the forbidden line. You must learn to call it. To control it. To protect yourself.”

Elara looked around. Her heart pounding. “I… I don’t know if I can. I have never done anything like this.”

The Oracle smiled. “You will. You must. The king fears you. Kael… he does not understand you yet. Liora… she will try to trap you. But you… you are stronger than you know.”

Elara pressed her hands to her chest. Sparks danced under her sleeve. She hugged herself tight.

The Oracle stepped back. “First, you must understand who you are. You are not just a servant. You are the last queen of the forbidden throne. Your kingdom was destroyed. But your blood lives. Your magic lives. And soon… your enemies will see it.”

Elara’s eyes widened. “Enemies?”

“Yes,” the Oracle said. “They will come for you. But you will not run. You will fight. You will be ready. Your magic will help you. But you must learn. You must train. Tonight begins your true journey.”

Elara pressed her palms to her chest. Sparks jumped. Her body trembling. “I… I don’t know if I can,” she whispered.

“You can,” the Oracle said. “I will show you. Your throne waits. But you must rise. You must not hide. They will not understand. They fear what they cannot control. You are stronger than them. Stronger than you know.”

Elara swallowed. Her chest tight. She felt her magic stir. Sparks jumping. Her mark glowed brighter. She hugged herself tight.

Outside, in the palace, Kael paced. His fists clenched. His chest heaving. He thought of Elara. Her mark. The fire. Her magic. He did not understand it. But he knew something had changed.

Somewhere, in the dark halls, Liora smiled. She had no idea what the Oracle had done. She thought she had won. But she was wrong.

Elara sat in the hidden room. Her hands trembling. Sparks dancing. Her chest heaving. She looked at the Oracle.

“I… I will try,” she said softly.

The Oracle nodded. “Good. But first… you must control it. Your power will grow. You cannot hide it anymore. They will come for you. And when they do… you must be ready.”

Elara pressed her hands together. Sparks jumped. Her heart raced. She hugged herself tight.

Outside the hidden room, far in the palace, guards searched. The king fumed. Kael worried. Liora scheming.

And in the quiet room, with only the soft glow of the Oracle, Elara’s magic stirred, alive, waiting, pulsing.

She knew tonight nothing would ever be the same.
