Chapter 4 Chapter 4

The captain's voice echoed, I looked around and all eyes were on us. Well not us, as Arden walked back into the ground. My eyes looked around and I caught sight of Mason, his glare ferocious. Beside him was one other Alpha. My eyes locked with his and I regretted instantly. He is just as he is on the news and the one person my dad warned me to avoid. He is the person that caused my brother to be expelled, Lucian Orion, the Second son of the Alpha of Shadow Moon park. The most influential pack in the whole of Scottish Highlands. It's no wonder he's friends with such jerks.

I saw Owen whisper into his ears and his lips slowly curved into a cold smirk as his eyes never left mine. I inhaled deeply and faced the Captain, at least his face was less scary.

"I'm sorry sir, today is my first day..."

"That is not an excuse, you heard the bell ring, two hundred push ups."

I didn't even bother protesting and nodded, I could still feel Lucian gaze on me even with my back facing him. After the training, my entire body felt sore and I could barely walk. I managed to make my way to the school lab. It's been more than twelve hours since I took the suppressants. My hormones nearly slipped off when I encountered Lucian. Why does he have such an effect on me?

After injecting the suppressant into my blood stream, I got back most of my energy. This batch of suppressant wasn't just ordinary. It had some powerful effect that could make me regain my strength like an Alpha. Alpha genes were added to it. My father really invested so much on this. I snorted as I relaxed at the back of a board. The lab was empty. It was already late, not sure if it's the reason for the emptiness. Alex used to say Alphas had no use for medicines, hence the school had no use for a lab.

Suddenly, I smelt something like an approaching person. His footsteps were almost detectable. I quickly packed the entire batch of suppressant but before I could hide the syringe, the door burst open and Lucian appeared, his eyes on my hands, his expression darkened.

"What's that?”

The syringe lay on the table. I breathed a deep sigh of relief when I noticed it was empty. I hadn't used it yet to administer the suppressants.

"What's what? Why are you following me, don't you have something better to do?" I said coldly with a confident and dominant aura.

"Why are you sneaking around the school premises?"

"What has that got to do with you?" I stood up slowly from the floor. "You are a S ranked Alpha, do you have that much free time?"

S rank is the highest rank in this academy, followed by the A rank and V rank, my brother was a V ranked Alpha before he was expelled from the Academy.

Lucian eyes narrowed slightly as he took a step closer, my breathing hitched when he placed his hand above me. My heart turned chaotic and I could feel my hormones threatening to spill. No! Why would he have this kind of effect on me? I could even stand it when Mason was so close to me earlier today.

Lucian used his right fingers to raise my chin. His grey eyes locked with mine and for seconds we glared at each other.

"What are you hiding?"

My heart skipped a bit. Had he caught my scent? No way. He wouldn't be this calm if he suspected something.

"What do you mean?" I shifted my body from his lock, but his broad shoulders still covered my entire body.

"You are acting really suspicious? Why do you skip the locker room showers? It's a capital..."

"It has nothing to do with you, damn it. Why don't you just mind your freaking business." I said and broke off his hold.

Taking a shower together with those students would surely expose me, my scents leak when I shower and even this high quality dose of suppressant can't suppress that, that's why I had to leave the locker room.

Lucian eyes dim slightly. He folded his arms across his chest and watched me scurry with my bag. I walked to the lab door, not even turning back to look at his expression, but his next words made me frozen in place.

"You know, your level of confidence can't be compared to your brother, even though you are smaller."

I turned slowly towards him with enraged eyes. He smirked and walked towards me. My heart skipped a bit as he approached me, his tall figure towering over me. He bent his neck so his lips could reach my ears, and whispered eerily.

"I hope you last more than him though. It was fun to mess with him, but you seem more fun."

With that, he left. The words didn't sink in completely until the door closed behind me. My mind raced as different thoughts ran through them. The very person I was warned to avoid noticed me on my very first day, and took a weird interest to bully me. I sighed and walked out of the lab. The earlier I completed the mission, the earlier I would leave this school.

Morning came too fast and the dorm corridor was already buzzing with students going in and out. When I woke up, my roommate hadn't returned last night. I rushed to the bathroom and took a quick shower. According to the class schedule, today is the day of Combat training and sparring practice. This wouldn't be too difficult.

After dressing up in my training gears, I left my room and was shocked to see a familiar shadow down the hallway.

"Arden?" I called out and slowly the figure turned towards me, I smiled and waved at him, he smiled back but didn't wave.

"Your dorm room is on this floor?" I asked perplexed, how much of a coincidence is that.

"I'm in room 0078 down the hall."

"Amazing, my room is 0081, just two rooms apart buddy." I said excitedly. He is the first ever person to show me kindness even though he claimed he wasn't doing that.

"Did Mason and his gang make trouble with you after yesterday's training?" He asked as he opened the huge iron door of our dormitory.

"No, I couldn't even find them after the class." I said with a fake smile. Lucian had indeed made trouble with me.

"Be careful around them. They are notorious school bullies, and their families and packs are very powerful. Even the Chancellor of the school would side with them if they caused real damage."

I nodded, just like my brother's case, all I need to do is avoid running into them.
