The next two months went smoothly for me in school. After the incident that day, Lucian no longer made trouble with me. His friends avoided me too, even though their gaze bored a hole in me. When we paired in any training, they usually beat the shit out of me, but it made me stronger in a way.
At the cafeteria, Lucian usually sits at a table before me. It seemed like he's watching me from a distance. Arden and I became much closer. He is the only friend I made in this school. My mission had been put on hold. The boys and girls practice ground, dorms, training and sparring arena were separated. We only have training together once every two weeks.
I had encountered the enigmatic Claire, beautiful with a black long hair. Her eyes were golden, a rare eye color among Dominant Alpha's. She is elegant and graceful, and I doubt if I would ever have a chance with her. Our training together is in two days and finally, our department gets to combat with hers. I'd finally have a chance to meet her closely.
After the practice, Arden and I walked back to the dorm but as usual, I made an excuse to practice more near the pine forest. After I lost sight of him, I diverted to the underground pharmacy.
For the past two months, I always came here to administer the suppressant. I didn't have the luxury of doing it inside my dorm, due to limited contact with Lucian. I was glad the suppressants weren't falling. I slipped in through the storage room connected to the pharmacy. It was dark and as an Omega I couldn't see as much clearly in the dark as Dominant Alpha's.
"You again, it's hasn't even been up to twelve hours." The voice of the pharmacy guard, a former doctor at the school who was demoted, resounded in the room.
"Hehe, I can't suppress my hormones for this long anymore, it threaten to spill anytime I have a duet with those Alpha's." I said with a sheepish smile.
I encountered pharmacist Hayes, the third time I tried to slip in the pharmacy, he turned out to be my dad's close friend when they both attended academy.
"You can't keep taking the suppressant all the time. It would shut your system down someday, you know right?" He said, and I nodded.
"I know. I know"
He sighed and led me to the pharmacy storage room. Since the evaluation is coming up, I've been mixing the suppressant with some batch of Alpha pheromone and practicing my Alpha energy. I can't afford to get caught.
Hayes left immediately, I began injecting the golden brown liquid inside my blood stream, the appropriate quantity, just enough to suppress my scents.
"Ethan?"
I froze instantly in shock, I slowly turned to meet the fiery gaze of Lucian, thankfully I was already outside the pharmacy, but the second batch of suppressant was still on me.
"Were you following me?" I squinted my eyes at him, but he shrugged his shoulders. He circled me slowly, like a predator observing his prey.
"What are you doing sneaking around this pharmacy?"
"It has nothing to do with you? Why are you pretending to be the school watch man."
"The same way you are pretending to be something you are not?"
My mind skipped a bit at his interrogation, and for a split second, just a split second, my scent leaked without warning, a sudden sweet flower scent filled the environment, and immediately,it was gone. Panic rose within me, Lucian's eyes darkened and he narrowed his eyes at me.
After a excruciating long wait, he simply turned around while muttering.
"I will see you at the sparing ground tomorrow, Ethan."
That was it? Didn't he notice? He clearly did but he chose to ignore it? My heart raced rapidly. He didn't just choose to ignore it, I am sure of it.
The next morning, my doubts were proven true as the voice of the announcer on each floor announced the compulsory evaluation this morning.
The evaluation is supposed to be in two weeks time, why would they suddenly shift it to today.
I took a deep breath as I walked into the enormous evaluation hall, the chairs were arranged vertically and horizontally with perfect rows of polished floors, the Chancellor and most instructors were present.
The evaluation began almost immediately. A loud voiced instructor called out names of the Alpha's, starting with the S ranked Alphas to release their pheromones into a test kit at the center of the hall.
There were four levels of the result. The S level, A level, V level and the neutral. A recessive Alpha can be in S level but a dominant Alpha can't be a V level. My eyes shifted round the hall, I inhaled sharply. I've been practicing. I can do this. Then, my eyes locked with his. His face was expressionless and cold. The next second his name was called.
"Alpha Lucian Orion, please step forward towards the box."
When he released his pheromone, my body became even more restless, and the rest of the event went unnoticed until my name was called.
I stepped forward and walked to the front of the box, my hands sweaty and anxiety enveloped me, I breathed in quietly and breath into the box, just as I've practiced several, I closed my eyes, expecting even a neutral, but I suddenly heard gasps from the students, when I opened my eyes again, my jaw dropped.
