CHAPTER 6
Three hours.
He walked for three hours, but what's strange is that he didn't feel tired. His feet didn't even hurt from walking non-stop to reach the house of the guard he wanted to talk to.
When he arrived near the shack where the guard lived, he kept his distance. He observed the surroundings and sensed the inside of the house.
There's no movement inside the guard's house. Everyone must be asleep, especially since it's already 12 midnight - or rather, the only person inside the house is already asleep.
Where could the guard's family be? he wondered, since he only sensed the guard's presence inside the house.
Michael looked around. Even though the houses in this area were makeshift, he could say that the surroundings were clean. He didn't see any cigarette butts, and he didn't smell anything unpleasant.
But what's even more surprising is that he didn't sense any other people around, except for the elderly guard who was sleeping at this hour. The area seemed abandoned since the previous residents had already left.
What happened?
From his standing position, observing the surroundings, Michael took a step closer to the house.
But his step was halted when he heard a voice around him.
"Wait, Michael," it said. From the depth of the voice's timbre, he knew who owned that voice. "Hide, and don't move until I say so."
He stopped and hid between two shacks. He felt that this was a warning, so he had to follow it if he didn't want to die again for the second time.
His assumption about the warning was true. Barely a minute had passed since he hid when two cars arrived in front of the guard's house - a 4x4 and a black van.
What the hell is this?
His forehead furrowed when men with guns got out of the cars. They walked towards the guard's house, but their attention wasn't on the house, but on the person inside the van.
There was only one man inside, smoking something that looked like marijuana. What's strange is that he could see what the man was doing despite the highly tinted windshield. But he couldn't figure out who the man was, since his face was blurry and there seemed to be a thin barrier preventing him from seeing the man's face clearly.
He was angry at the person inside. He clenched his fists due to the overwhelming anger within him. The anger was blinding, making it hard for him to think clearly.
"Who are you? Who the fvck are you?!"
He was itching to know who was inside the van.
"Who is he?" he asked the demon residing in the flower.
"Your first victim... He was one of those who planned to kill you. I need his soul, Michael. Offer me his soul tonight."
After the creature that helped him survive said those things, a double-bladed dagger appeared in his hand. It shone when hit by the moonlight.
The excitement filled his system. But Michael immediately lost his excitement when he heard the deafening shout from the guard's house. At the same time, the guard begged for his life while being dragged out of his own house.
Now, now he knew why this place had been abandoned. Money was the reason. And the blood of the elderly guard was bought by the people behind his murder.
Another deafening scream came from the guard as he was shot in the leg by the largest man.
While watching the guard being tortured, he remembered how he was killed. The pain he experienced at the hands of unknown people came back to him.
His vision darkened. He was ready to get his hands bloody.
Michael adjusted his hat before walking out of his hiding spot. He made sure his face wasn't covered by the hat. He walked calmly towards them, like he was taking a stroll in a park in Makati.
"Who are you?!" one of the henchmen shouted at him, but he didn't bother to introduce himself. "Stop or you'll be shot—"
The henchman's words were cut off when Michael threw the dagger he was holding at him. The dagger hit the henchman's throat, causing blood to spurt out as he fell to the ground, convulsing.
"Son of a—!" another henchman cursed as they fired bullets at Michael.
But the bullets seemed to move in slow motion, and Michael could see and dodge them easily.
Michael smiled, and time seemed to slow down as he saw a bullet heading towards him, aimed at his forehead. He dodged it effortlessly and jumped high into the air. From 3 meters above the ground, he rained down rose stems at his enemies. The stems pierced their foreheads and throats, and like the previous victim, they convulsed and vomited blood as they fell to the ground.
When Michael landed on the ground, he heard the person inside the car cursing. He smiled. He didn't expect this person to be behind his murder.
He picked up a gun and fired at the car's windshield, shattering it and revealing the person inside.
Their eyes met, and Michael smiled.
Not all snakes crawl; some walk on two feet and are even your friends...
He removed his hat, revealing his face to the man, who looked shocked and terrified.
"How are you? Looks l
ike I surprised you, huh..." Michael said sarcastically to his former friend.
