Chapter 6

You can't just randomly save men you find on the street.

But men connected to BOC? Those I might be able to kill.

I walked slowly forward. As soon as I entered the bushes, I was grabbed by a man who was clearly drugged and out of his mind.

"Thank God, a woman..."

After his exclamation, he suddenly realized he couldn't pull me.

He struggled to clear his head, and after getting a good look at my figure, a "Shit" escaped his lips.

He muttered to himself, "No way, how am I this unlucky? Getting drugged is bad enough, but the person I run into has to be someone like you..."

"Even drugged, I can't accept this kind of... this is so screwed."

Drenched in sweat, he pulled out a bank card from his wallet. "Girl, here's money. There's a million in this card. Go find me a woman, a clean one."

I took the card and put it in my pocket.

Just as the man thought I'd agreed to help, I raised my hand and gave him a loud slap across the face.

"What the—fuck, you..."

"Smack—"

Another slap.

The man's cheeks instantly swelled up.

His speech became slurred. "What the hell, do you know who I am?"

"Haven't you noticed the drug's effects have faded a bit?" I asked back.

The man was actually stumped by my question.

He looked thoughtful, seeming to agree with what I said.

Those two slaps hurt him so much he gasped for air, which of course created the illusion that the drug was wearing off.

"I won't help you find a woman, but I can help you deal with the drug's effects."

"How would you..." The man suddenly looked at me with wariness and defensiveness, as if determined to protect his virtue at all costs.

I just knocked the man out.

Although the man had been given BOC GeneTech's specially formulated powerful aphrodisiac, and if he didn't resolve the drug's effects through that kind of activity, he might become permanently sterile, in my presence, dealing with the drug's effects was as simple as eating or drinking.

I took out the spare acupuncture needles I carried and treated the man, inserting them into various pressure points. His body began sweating profusely.

As if all the moisture in his body was draining out.

But this was all normal.

I ran to the nearest convenience store and bought a bottle of mineral water before returning.

I opened the bottle and poured it all over the man's face.

The man slowly came to, looking completely drained.

He panicked for a moment, then touched his intact clothing. His Adam's apple bobbed.

Smelling the stench of his own sweat, his lips trembled. "You, you didn't do anything to me, did you?"

"This is rape, you know that?!"

I frowned. "You're overthinking it. You're quite safe-looking."

"What?"

"In all of Silverlight City, no one has ever said I, Joseph, am ugly. Take a closer look!" Joseph Miller got agitated.

"Can't look."

I turned my face away.

Joseph: "..."

"By the way, how did you save me?"

"Beat you half to death."

"What?" Joseph didn't quite believe it, but his aching body made him somewhat believe it.

"Really..."

He looked up at me. "Girl, what's your name?"

"Not telling you."

"You're interesting. Don't be scared, I'm not a bad guy. I'm asking your name because I want to repay you."

"One million, barely enough."

I said flatly.

"I don't think that's enough, but since you don't want to reveal your identity, I won't force you. Take this."

Joseph handed me the snake bracelet that was still warm from his body heat.

Men connected to BOC—I really did need to keep an eye on them.

I took the snake bracelet.

"Girl, if you ever run into trouble, you can bring this snake bracelet to the Miller family in Silverlight City to find me. I'll solve it for you."

"I'm leaving now!"

Joseph hadn't taken two steps before his legs went weak and started shaking.

He turned back to look at me, found me watching him too, and immediately forced himself to straighten up.

I looked down at the snake bracelet in my hand.

Repeating silently in my mind.

The Miller family of Silverlight City...

BOC...

What's the connection between these two?

...

Three hours later.

The Miller family, Silverlight City.

Joseph came to see his cousin Michael Miller with his swollen red cheeks.

"Michael, I escaped from those sneaky bastards at BOC. Damn it, they disguised themselves as waiters while I was doing a business deal and drugged me!"

Michael, sitting on the sofa, looked up at Joseph, shocked by how swollen his cheeks were. His deep eyes narrowed. "They hit you?"

Joseph shook his head. "No, they gave me an aphrodisiac. I'm guessing they wanted to do something with my excellent genes, but I managed to escape."

"This was from my savior hitting me."

Michael looked puzzled. "Hm?"

"Who saved you?"

"A big girl—that's what I'll call her, since I really don't know her name. But 'big' refers to her size!"

Joseph gestured a barrel shape. "She was probably about this fat."

"Man, I've never seen such a fat girl. She seemed pretty young, and her features were actually pretty nice, just way too fat—it looked out of proportion!"

"But she's the one who helped me deal with the drug's effects."

Michael didn't care about Joseph's description of her appearance. "You said she neutralized the drug in your system? How did she do it?"

"She said she beat the drug out of me."

Michael's eye twitched. "You believe that?"

Joseph scratched his head sheepishly. He actually did believe it.

Otherwise, he couldn't explain what the girl had done to him. It couldn't be that she... took advantage of him, right?

Joseph felt a wave of fear, but the problem was that he had no way to verify it.

Michael looked thoughtful.

He asked, "Any news on V's whereabouts?"

Joseph slapped his forehead, as if just remembering the important matter. "I went to the small island where V appeared, but when I got there, I heard that a family on the island had been killed in an explosion."

"A middle-aged couple and their adopted daughter."

"I heard this adopted daughter was exceptional. Quite a few people on the island lamented what a shame it was that she died. The local police are investigating the explosion."

"I suspect that exceptional high school girl was V."

Otherwise, how could an ordinary high school girl attract such a brutal murder?

"So... V might already be dead."

Joseph's voice grew quieter as he spoke, since this was terrible news for Michael.

Because Michael's son had a genetic defect—he was born without the ability to feel pain and could only be protected like a fragile doll.

And the legendary "V" who escaped from BOC ten years ago was supposedly the only person who could treat genetic defect diseases.

Michael had been searching for V's whereabouts, only to receive news of V's death?

He frowned.

But V, who was only eight years old at the time, had managed to escape from the experimental facility through BOC's tight security net.

Would she really die so easily?
