Chapter 2

Aishe's POV

The moment I entered Valen's quarters, a cold wave of deathly aura swept over me.

Several doctors were huddled around the bed, trembling in terror.

"It's over... Lord Valen won't survive tonight!" the lead doctor whimpered, his face pale. "The King will have our heads!"

I shoved the panicked doctors aside and walked straight to the bedside.

Valen lay on the bed, his face as white as paper, wrapped in the chill of death. According to the timeline of my past life, tonight was indeed the night he died.

Without hesitation, I bit my finger and squeezed a drop of my blood between his dry, parted lips.

The moment the blood sank in, his stiff body twitched violently.

His chest heaved, and with a harsh cough, he spat out a mouthful of black blood.

Slowly, his eyes opened. Those deep, long-dormant amber-gold eyes flashed with a faint ray of life.

The doctor froze, rushed forward to check his pulse, and gasped, "Gods! His pulse... it's beating again! A miracle! It's a miracle!"

The next morning.

Valen, who had been comatose for months, was miraculously wide awake and even asked for food.

The doctors fell to their knees, praising him as the good omen of the Serennis Clan.

"All of you, out," Valen commanded. Though his voice was raspy, it carried an unquestionable authority.

The door closed, leaving only him and me in the room.

He leaned against the headboard, his sharp golden eyes fixed on me. "Last night... you saved me with your own blood, didn't you?"

My heart tightened. Not wanting to reveal my bloodline secret, I played dumb. "You must be joking, my Lord. I'm just a low-tier white snake. How could I have such power?"

"Stop acting. I can taste it," Valen gave a soft, gentle laugh that felt like warm winter sunlight. "Thank you, Aishe."

I froze. In my past life with Flark, I was used to endless mockery. No one had ever spoken to me so gently, let alone said thank you.

"However, you don't need to waste your time on me," Valen sighed, his gaze dimming slightly. "I know my own body. I won't last long. Once I feel a bit better, I'll speak to Kaelthyr and set you free to go home."

Go home?

I let out a bitter smile. "Valen, I haven't had a home for a long time. My father was heartless, and my mother died of heartbreak because of his affairs. I have nowhere to go."

I took a step forward, grabbing his pale wrist with terrifying determination. "I have a way to cure you completely! Trust me, I will let you live like a normal man!"

Valen looked at me, his golden pupils dilating slightly.

After a brief pause, a faint smile touched his lips. "Alright. Then I place my life in your hands."

Over the next few days, I mixed a drop of my blood into Valen's medicine every day.

His complexion grew rosier by the day, and soon he was able to walk.

At the same time, I used some basic medicine to help cure various chronic illnesses among the clan members.

"Lady Aishe is a miracle doctor!"

"We are so blessed to serve Lord Valen!"

My reputation spread rapidly, which completely enraged a pair of fools.

On the fourth afternoon, our door was violently kicked open!

"Aishe! You wicked woman, what dark magic are you using on my uncle?!"

Flark barged in, aggressively accompanied by Bryn.

Bryn clung to Flark’s arm, holding her chin up high. Her eyes flashed with fake sympathy. "Aishe, I know you're eager to secure your place in the clan, but dark magic has terrible backfires! Messing around with a critically ill man like Uncle Valen will kill him!"

I calmly set down my medicine bowl, turned around, and sneered at the intruders.

"Flark, drop your high-and-mighty attitude. A smelly worm like you has no right to bark in my husband's room."

"I am destined to become a dragon! Who do you think you are?!" Flark snapped, his face contorting in rage as he raised his hand to strike me.

Two tall guards instantly drew their blades, pressing them against Flark's neck. This was Valen's domain—he had no room to run wild here.

Flark's face twisted in fury, but he had no choice but to pull his hand back.

Bryn quickly pulled Flark back, holding her head high to show off. "Sister, don't get cocky! Flark and I came today to share some grand news!"

She coyly caressed her belly. "I am already pregnant! The wizard Gorath said the child in my womb is a noble Dragon-Beast!"

A Dragon-Beast?

I cold-eyed them both.

In the past life, Flark relied on Fris—the son I nearly died giving birth to—to win King Kaelthyr's favor and claim the throne.

In this life, they hadn't even held their wedding yet, yet they had already slept together and gotten pregnant, desperate to use a child to boost their status.

"A Dragon-Beast?" I scoffed with utter disdain. "Getting pregnant before marriage? What you're carrying is called a bastard!"

"You!" Bryn’s face turned pale green.

Flark gritted his teeth so hard they creaked, but pinned by the guards' blades, he could only spit out a harsh threat: "Aishe, just you wait! My child is no bastard. His name is Fris!"

With that, he grabbed Bryn and slammed the door as they left.

Fris.

The moment I heard that name, my blood ran cold.

That cold-blooded son who threw me to the eagles in my past life... was still going to be born in this life.

All day, I was consumed by anger and chill.

Late at night, I brought medicine into Valen's room.

I reached for a small knife, preparing to cut my finger again.

However, a warm, powerful hand caught my wrist mid-air.

"That's enough, Aishe."

Valen stood before me. He looked deep into my eyes, filled with heartache. "Stop cutting yourself. Doing this continuously will cost you your life."

I froze. "But your body..."

"I was ready to die long ago," Valen said softly, looking out at the night sky. "But you told me you could give me a normal life... to see the world outside. Aishe, you gave me a reason to live."

"So I will never allow you to consume your own life just to extend mine."

Looking at this sincere, gentle man, and thinking back to Flark and that upcoming bastard Fris, my frozen heart melted.

"What if..." I looked up at Valen, a sharp light flashing in my eyes. "I have another method that won't harm my body, yet can cure you completely?"

Valen was taken aback. "What method?"

Without answering, I opened my lips slightly, revealing a pair of flawless white fangs unique to the Star Dragon bloodline.

I stepped forward, unbuttoned his robe, and whispered near his ear:

"You will know... very soon."
