Chapter1
There was a time when Adrian would die to keep me safe.
Back then, he was just a low-born wolf.
He took a wolfsbane-laced dart for me. Burning with fever, he vowed, "Sarah, my life is yours. I will never betray you."
For that vow, I exhausted my pack’s resources and tried my bset to push him onto the Alpha King's throne.
But I never expected that on the day of his coronation, he would publicly reject me for a lowly half-breed wolf named Eve.
In my past life, I presented evidence, exposing Eve as a spy for our enemy, the Crimson Claw.
Cornered, Eve swallowed poison and died on the spot.
Back then, Adrian smiled and thanked me. "Good thing you found out early, or it would have been a disaster."
But ten years later, after taking total control of the four wolves packs, he framed my pack for colluding with the Crimson Claw!
He tied me—pregnant with his pup—to the altar. His eyes were venomous. "You forced Eve to her death. Today, I’ll take your life and your entire pack's to avenge her!"
He actually ripped open the abdomen and kill my infant and threw my remains into the sea of fire that consumed tens of thousands of my people.
My consciousness faded.
When I opened my eyes again, I was back at his coronation.
Since the Moon Goddess gave me a second chance, I wouldn't stop him this time.
Let's see how far he and his spy of a "true love" can fly how far !
Howls pierced the night. The crimson moonlight hit the altar.
Adrian stepped up to the throne.
The Alphas of the four major packs stood on either side, witnessing the crowning of the new King.
As the sacred rites concluded, the celebratory banquet began.
I bit my tongue hard to endure it. and wanted to watch his and his "true love's" miserable end in this life quickly.
Halfway through the banquet, Adrian stood up. His crushing Alpha aura silenced the hall.
"Today, besides the coronation, I have another announcement." He raised his goblet. "I have found my soulmate. I will form a blood-bond with her."
Everyone's eyes turned to me.
The Southbrook elder raised his glass. "Congratulations, Princess Sarah!"
"You're mistaken. The mate I speak of is not her." Adrian cut him off coldly, looking toward the back of the hall. "Eve, come out."
Eve walked timidly to Adrian's side.
Adrian pulled her into his arms and scanned the crowd. "My mate can only be Eve!"
She was just a lowly half-breed rogue. The hall erupted in an uproar.
"Is he insane? The absolute authority of the Alpha King is legitimized entirely by the Crimson Moon's ancient Blood Oath. Without it, how can he rule the four packs?"
"He relied on Sarah to pave his way. She bled for him, and now he rejects her in public? What a traitor."
I heard every word. A dull ache throbbed in my chest.
Countless men had begged to marry me.
My father initially opposed my union with Adrian because of his low status.
To my father, a powerful alliance was the only choice.
But I loved Adrian then. I begged my father until he finally agreed.
I gave everything for him all these years, only for him to fall for Eve. Looking at his cold eyes, I realized how foolish I was to believe in our forever.
He glared at the crowd, his voice laced with anger. "She almost died saving me. If I don't make her my Luna, that would be a betrayal."
"Enough!" He smashed his goblet and stared coldly at me. "Eve saved my life! As for Sarah, you chose to follow me. After the ceremony, reward her with two silver mines."
Eve saved him once, and he was willing to break our pact to marry her. I saved him countless times, and he didn't mention a single one. Was my devotion just expected?
I spoke up coldly. "Save your breath, Alpha King. My pack doesn't lack such scraps."
Eve looked up, tears in her eyes. "Adrian, don't be like this. Princess Sarah is a pureblood. I don't deserve to compete with her. As long as I can stay by your side..."
Adrian hugged her tighter, looking at me with absolute disgust.
"Sarah, you will never be my mate." He sneered. "If you insist on staying in the royal court, then be Eve's personal maid. Serve her well, and maybe I'll grant you a title."
Was he out of his mind? Making me a maid?
The hall gasped.
My father, Elias, slammed his hands on the table, his eyes bloodshot. "Adrian, you're courting death!"
"Father, stand down."
I held him back and stood up calmly.
I looked straight at Adrian on the high altar. "Are you misunderstanding something?"
I ripped the crimson wolf fang from my neck. It was the Crimson Moon pack's blood oath token—the artifact capable of helping him to rule over all wolves.
Adrian's face changed drastically. "Sarah, what are you doing?!"
I threw the fang hard against the stone floor. It shattered instantly.
Looking at Adrian's shocked and furious face, I let out a cold laugh.
"Did you really think I would beg to be your mate? As of today, the engagement is off."
"From now on, we go our separate ways. I never want to see you again."
