Chapter 7 Take Good Care of Regina More
"Regina always thinks about you. She even offered to pretend she doesn't know you at school so you wouldn't be bothered. And what about you? All you want to do is distance yourself. How did you end up like this?"
Easton was furious, especially after comparing Arabella to Regina, which made her feel like Arabella was becoming more and more unreasonable.
"Did I say that?" Arabella replied flatly.
The moment Arabella's words landed, the two people who had just been lecturing her suddenly went quiet.
Arabella knew that picking a fight with them right now wouldn't do her any good. After all, she was still just a high school student.
At this stage, she had no way to break free from the Obelon Family.
With that in mind, she took a deep breath and said, "Winston, Justin — is it really a good idea to put someone who couldn't even pass the entrance exam into the advanced class? But if Regina wants to, fine."
After all, not everyone could handle the workload in the advanced class.
Whether Regina could keep up was her own problem.
"Since you have no objections, take good care of Regina once she starts, and help tutor her in your free time." Winston was usually a man of few words, but when it came to Regina, he never seemed to stop worrying.
He even had to personally arrange every little thing for her.
Sometimes Arabella genuinely wondered if she and Regina had been mixed up at birth — maybe she was actually the housekeeper's daughter.
But the truth was simple: they just liked Regina. They just didn't like her.
When she didn't answer, Winston slightly raised his head, his narrow eyes settling on her face. "Didn't you hear me?"
Arabella nodded and said quietly, "Got it."
But she had no intention of actually doing it.
After living through a whole lifetime of pouring her heart out for them and getting nothing in return, helping them again would make her a real fool.
This time around, every bit of her time belonged to herself alone.
It wasn't worth blowing things up over something this small — she still had plenty of things she wanted to do.
Like getting her driver's license.
She remembered that the first thing Regina did after completing her enrollment was to come and go from school with her. A lot of people recognized the Obelon Family's cars, so they naturally assumed Regina was a relative of the family.
That was exactly what gave Regina the leverage to build her little social circle.
This time, she was not going to give her that chance.
Before Regina's transfer student status was finalized, Arabella found a reliable driving school and spent the better part of a month getting her license.
Half a month later, just as Regina's transfer enrollment was confirmed, Arabella's driver's license arrived too.
Arabella pulled off her sun visor and sighed at her noticeably tanner reflection in the mirror.
Of course. Nobody comes out of driving school without getting a tan.
Still, she'd gotten what she wanted, and that was what mattered.
In her past life, she had given up on learning to drive just because Theodric said it was too dangerous for girls. And it wasn't just the license she gave up — there were so many other things she had wanted to do but never did.
The Obelon Family's garage wasn't underground. On the other side of the villa was a separate parking lot where dozens of luxury cars were lined up in their spaces — quite a sight to take in all at once.
Arabella rarely came here. Usually the driver would bring the car around to the front door.
So when she arrived and spotted Winston and Regina getting out of a car, she was genuinely caught off guard.
If she'd known those two would be here, she never would have come at this hour.
Because nothing good ever came from running into Regina.
She turned to leave, but Regina spotted her right away and called out to her back from across the lot. "Arabella!"
Her voice was loud enough to catch Winston's attention as he stepped out from the driver's side.
Winston frowned, glanced around, and finally landed his gaze on Arabella nearby. "What are you doing here?"
"Just looking around." Arabella had no interest in dealing with them and started walking toward the exit.
She barely got two steps before Regina moved quickly to block her path. "Arabella, Winston already took care of my transfer paperwork. Starting tomorrow, I'll be going to school just like you."
Her eyes were bright and shining as she said it, like a close friend genuinely wanting to share good news.
Too bad Arabella had seen that face way too many times.
She lowered her gaze slightly, her long lashes hiding whatever was in her eyes, and smiled coldly. "Is that so? Congratulations."
"Can I go to school with you tomorrow then? Winston was worried I might have trouble adjusting, so he asked the principal to put me in the same class as you." Regina said it with a barely concealed air of showing off.
As if afraid Arabella hadn't caught it, she added again, "I'm in the advanced class now too."
A flash of sharp mockery crossed Arabella's lips.
Regina really moved fast. In just this short time, she'd already started seeing herself as one of the Obelons.
But she didn't want to waste any more time on this.
"Oh. So can you move?"
"What kind of attitude is that?" Winston cut in, displeased, his warning gaze fixed on her.
"What kind of attitude do you want from me?" Arabella looked up and met his eyes without flinching.
"Talk to Regina properly. She just wanted to share something happy with you." Winston's gaze swept briefly across her face, and everything in his expression was pure defense of Regina.
Arabella found it almost funny. Regina wanted to share something, so she was supposed to stand there and listen?
Was her only purpose in this world to be Regina's audience?
Regina heard Winston defending her and felt a quiet rush of delight.
Over the past while, she had made a point of checking in on the three brothers whenever she could, and whenever Arabella was out of the house, she stepped into the role of a caring little sister.
Sure enough, after spending time with them, the three Obelon brothers had grown increasingly attentive toward her.
They had even donated an entire building to the school just so Regina could get into the advanced class.
"Winston, Arabella might just be in a bad mood. It's okay if she doesn't want to listen," Regina said quickly.
The words were gracious, but the disappointment on her face was hard to hide.
She stepped aside to clear the way, her expression full of remorse. "Arabella, I'm sorry. I wasn't being thoughtful. Go get some rest."
Winston hesitated, glancing at the stubborn, rude Arabella, then shifting his eyes to the well-behaved, considerate Regina.
Arabella had changed a lot lately.
And not for the better. She had become difficult, impolite — someone hard to like.
"You need to relearn the Obelon Family's rules."
At those words, Arabella's footsteps stopped. Her long lashes fell over her dark eyes, and she said quietly, "I've never forgotten the Obelon Family's rules."
She raised her head, looked straight ahead, and said each word clearly: "The Obelon Family's rules don't exist to accommodate Regina."
