Chapter 1
I was reborn on the exact night Uncle Nico was dosed with a aphrodisiac.
This time, I didn't act as his cure. Instead, I made the call to his true love.
In my past life, I fell desperately in love with my uncle, a mafia boss with no blood ties to me.
When I found out he had been drugged, I completely ignored his orders to call Cecilia and offered myself to him instead.
A month later, I ended up pregnant.
Uncle Nico was forced by the family elders to marry me.
But on our wedding day, his precious Cecilia was kidnapped and murdered by a rival cartel while vacationing abroad.
Right before she died, she dialed Nico’s number one hundred and eighty-eight times.
He missed every single call because he was standing at the altar with me.
Afterward, Nicolo just stared at those 188 missed calls in dead silence.
He waited hidden in his grief until the day I went into labor.
Then, he dragged me down into the estate's wine cellar and locked the steel door.
I begged him to take me to a hospital.
He just stood on the other side, a cruel, twisted smile on his face, watching me suffocate and bleed out from the agony of a blocked birth.
Right before I died, his cold voice echoed in my ears.
"If you hadn't gotten pregnant, I wouldn't have been forced to marry you. I wouldn't have missed Cece's calls. Now pay for it with your life."
Then I opened my eyes, and I was back on the night he was drugged.
Daisy’s POV
"Daisy, call Cece. Now!"
The guttural growl jolted me awake.
I gasped, my heart hammering against my ribs.
I'm reborn.
I didn't hesitate for a single second.
I yanked my phone from my pocket and dialed Cecilia Ashford’s number.
On the bed, Nicolo Serra—the head of the Serra family and my legal guardian—was a mess.
His face was flushed red.
A rival gang had slipped a aphrodisiac into his champagne at tonight’s banquet, and it was tearing through his veins.
He stared at me, his eyes burning with a feverish, feral heat.
In my past life, that exact look was my undoing.
I let my stupid, secret love for him win.
I ignored his orders to call Cecilia and offered myself as his cure.
It was the worst mistake of my life.
This time, I broke eye contact and backed away toward the door.
"Just hold on, Uncle Nico," I kept my voice deadpan. "Your girl is ten minutes out."
I slipped through the doorway and pulled the door shut.
Right before the latch clicked, I heard him grind my name through his teeth.
It sounded like a threat.
I ignored it and stood guard in the hallway.
Exactly ten minutes later, Cecilia rushed up the staircase.
She paused, her eyes darting over me, checking for any signs of dishevelment.
When she saw my dress was perfectly intact, her panic melted into a relieved smirk.
She pushed past me to grab the doorknob.
"You can leave now, Daisy. He doesn't need a kid like you around for this."
I turned on my heel and walked straight up to my room on the third floor.
It took until past midnight for the muffled noises from the master suite below to finally fade into silence.
I let out a long, shaky breath. In my last life, my desperate love for Nicolo made me willingly become his cure, and I got pregnant with his child.
He married me under pressure, but on our wedding day, Cecilia was killed. He lost the love of his life.
He hid his hatred perfectly, waiting in silence until my due date, only to lock me in that cellar.
I had cried and begged through the blinding pain, offering my own life just to save the baby's.
It was his child, too. But he didn't care.
He watched us both die just to avenge his precious white moonlight.
This time, I gave him exactly what he wanted.
I brought Cecilia to him. And soon, I would leave the Serra estate and get away from him forever.
The next morning, sunlight flooded the estate’s grand dining room. Cecilia was already sitting at the table.
Nicolo took a slow sip of his black coffee, cut a piece of his bacon, and then casually dropped the bomb.
"Cece is my girlfriend now," his voice commanded the room. "I’m going to marry her. Everyone in this house will treat her with absolute respect."
He shifted his dark gaze to me. "Especially you, Daisy. Be good to your future aunt. Don't cause trouble for me."
I just nodded numbly.
Across the table, Cece’s lips curled into a triumphant, mocking smile.
I ignored her completely. I pushed my chair back before my eggs were even cold.
The scrape of the chair legs had barely echoed before Cecilia let out a pathetic, trembling gasp.
"Nico..." she sniffled, forcing a tear to roll down her cheek.
"Does Daisy hate me? I know she's the daughter of your late underboss, and she means a lot to you. If she doesn't want me here, I should just pack my bags and go."
Nico’s jaw clenched.
"Daisy," he barked, his tone leaving no room for argument. "Sit down and finish your breakfast."
I stood my ground. "I'm full."
His fist slammed on the table, rattling the china. "I said sit the hell down! Are you deaf? Is this the respect I taught you while raising you under my roof?"
Now, it just exhausted me.
I didn't want to play their twisted games anymore.
I turned back, flashing them a polite smile.
"Uncle Nico. Miss Ashford," I kept my voice light. "I really am full. Enjoy your morning. I'll leave you two alone."
Back in my room, I had barely started pulling my suitcases from the closet to pack when a violent rap rattled my door.
I pulled the door open, only to meet Nico's dark, brooding stare.
