Chapter 3

Daisy’s POV

The following days were painfully simple.

Cecilia made sure to flaunt their affection in my face every chance she got.

Nicolo was still giving me the cold shoulder, and this time, I was dead set on not chasing after him.

A month later, Cecilia announced she was pregnant.

Nicolo was ecstatic. He wanted to scream the news from the rooftops of the Serra Family Estate.

He immediately pushed the wedding date forward, throwing the entire household into a frenzy of preparations.

In this life, his precious white moonlight was the one carrying his child.

I decided to let them have their perfect ending.

Once my visa was approved, I immediately booked a flight to leave.

My departure date was set for the exact day of their wedding.

Nicolo finally lost the standoff.

Taking advantage of Cecilia being out of the estate, he marched upstairs and pushed my bedroom door open.

He pulled out his phone, tapped open an email, and shoved the screen in my face.

"You touched the trust fund your parents left you? I had my lawyers look into it. You used it for an overseas visa deposit."

"What, is my wedding triggering you so much that you need a vacation to cope?"

My heart skipped a beat first.

But as his second sentence landed, my chest loosened later.

Seeing me keep my head down in silence, Nicolo’s tone turned freezing cold.

"Daisy, are you done throwing this tantrum? You've been giving me attitude for a solid month. Did you think if I didn't reach out, you could just ignore me for the rest of your life?"

He stepped closer, his imposing shadow falling over me.

"Ever since Cece moved into the estate, you’ve frozen me out. She is the woman I love. If you actually cared about me, you’d accept her. Not hide in your room all day."

"You can hide for a week, but you can’t hide forever. Are you going to act like this after we're married?"

I shook my head, meeting his gaze.

"Uncle Nico, you misunderstood. I just see you as my guardian. You raised me. I only feel gratitude toward you."

He stared at me for a second before letting out a dark, mocking laugh.

He laughed like it was the funniest joke he’d ever heard.

"Gratitude? Daisy, everyone in this family knows you're obsessed with me. Who the hell would believe you only feel gratitude? Do you even believe your own lie?"

His eyes drifted to my desk, and a smug smirk touched his lips.

"You’ve kept every single gift I’ve given you over the years in perfect condition. And you still claim you don’t love me?"

He walked into the room, casually picking up the trinkets on my desk to admire them.

Then, he looked back at me with a serious expression.

"Pack all this stuff away. I'm marrying Cece, and you need to drop these impossible fantasies. We might not share blood, but I will never look at you like that."

"Besides, Cece is pregnant now. Seeing all this might upset her, and I’m not risking my future wife and son over your feelings."

"Okay," I replied flatly.

I grabbed a cardboard box and started sweeping the items off my desk, tossing them inside without a second thought.

I was planning to throw this junk out before my flight anyway. This just saved me the trouble.

Watching my ruthlessly calm movements, Nicolo’s brows pulled into a tight frown.

He suddenly reached out and grabbed my wrist, stopping me.

"Daisy, can't you be gentle? Look, you broke the little bunny off this hair clip!"

I glanced at the bunny clip in his hand.

After my parents died in that gang shootout, Nicolo honored his promise to his best friend and took me in.

That clip was the very first gift he ever bought me.

For years, I treated it like a priceless diamond. I wouldn't even let the maids touch it.

But now, I was throwing it into the trash with the rest of the garbage, and somehow, Nicolo was the one losing his mind over it.

"Are you putting on a show, Daisy? You love playing the victim!" he snapped, his grip tightening.

"You're dying inside because I'm marrying someone else. Who are you faking this cold indifference for?"

"You're so triggered by my wedding that you're running off to Europe, yet you stand here pretending you're over me. If you can actually let me go, I'm the damn Pope!"

He let go of my wrist, pulling out his phone again.

A second later, my bank app chimed. He had wired me a hundred grand.

"A vacation is good for you," he muttered, adjusting his cuffs. "Cece is in her first trimester. It's a delicate time. Better you aren't here stressing her out anyway."

He looked at me with a meaningful stare.

"Go see Europe. Have fun. Don't miss me too much. When you get back, I’ll be a married man."

"You need to get used to that reality, or living in the same house is going to be extremely awkward for both of us."

Nicolo rattled off a few more travel safety tips before finally leaving my room.

But what he didn't know was that I am reborn.

And this time, I wasn't going on a vacation. I was leaving for good.

On the day of Nico’s wedding, the Serra estate woke up before dawn.

The halls were buzzing with mob bosses, florists, and security detail.

I waited until the chaos peaked.

Grabbing my suitcase, I slipped out through the kitchen's service doors, jumped into a waiting cab, and headed straight for the airport.
