Chapter 1 My beloved fiancee

Grace felt her body hit, broken into pieces. Blood started coming from her mouth, her throat choking on the blood that was rushing forward. With the last strength she had, she stiffly turned around and saw the man, his lips curled up into a glint, and his eyes coldly staring at her.

She looked down and saw an axe in his hands, blood on it. She didn’t need to ask or think what had happened. Her eyes started to get watery, feeling heartache at the thought that she would never see her biological parents and experience their love. She felt her inner organs crushing, failing one by one.

She opened her mouth to say something, but a dash of blood came out, smearing Peter, who was standing in front of her. She suddenly fell backwards, her eyes started losing focus as the light in front of her reduced bit by bit, and she slowly closed her eyes.

“My hand hurts,” she whimpered softly before getting stunned.

“In pain? No, I shouldn’t be feeling this way. Am I not dead? How can I still feel pain?”

She was surrounded by darkness, which tormented her. She turned around, and the more she struggled, the more pain she felt. She forced herself to open her eyes and succeeded at last, but due to the lights, she hurriedly closed them before opening them slowly.

Her eyes became focused, but what she was seeing made her more confused. That red-painted room, memories started evading her mind, making her stunned.

“This…isn’t this my bedroom? The one I grew up in and lived before I lost the Greens' favor?” she mumbled as she continued looking around.

She yanked away her duvet, wanting to get out of bed, but she injured her arm in the progress causing her to yelp in pain. She looked at her hand, stared at it, the bandage, the clothes she was wearing, and everything started to click.

This was a day after she burnt her hand so that she could frame her new sister, the Green’s biological daughter, Natalie. She held the arm with care as she carefully got out of bed. She walked around and finally ended up in front of her dressing mirror.

She didn’t need to pinch or slap herself to confirm anything. The pain in her hand was the answer she needed. She had been reborn!

Tears started flowing down. This was the day her doom started. This was where she lost the Greens' favor.

She stood there, staring at her mirror blankly, pain shot through her heart as she remembered everything, everything that had led to her death.

“No, no please, I won’t repeat it,” Grace remembered screaming with all the strength that she had.

The one watched her coldly, sneering inside at how cowardly she was. “Too weak yet you expect someone like you to be my wife? Are you nuts?” the man asked, causing the woman to lower her head, biting her lips, unwilling to accept what the man was saying.

She suddenly lifted her head, locking with the man’s eyes, took a deep breath, and asked, “But I am your fiancée. If I don’t marry you, who will?”

The man started laughing loudly as he had not expected her to still insist on getting married to him even at this point. He started wondering whether her brain was functioning well or not.

He looked at her, disgust in his eyes, a frown on his face, displeased with what he was seeing. “Are you worth being my wife?” he asked, piercing the woman’s heart.

Yes, was she worth being his wife? She smiled terribly; all the confidence she had mastered was shattered immediately, and she lowered her head, as if she was trying to hide herself from the embarrassment.

“Let me remind me your identity, Grace. You are just the adopted daughter of the Greens. No, wait, I am wrong, the fake heiress,” the man started laughing loudly. “You are not even worth wiping Natalie’s shoes. You aren’t as clever as she is, your face is ruined, so in terms of beauty, you still can’t compare to her. You are nothing, Grace, I even think a beggar is a hundred times better than you.”

Grace lowered her head deeply, tears flowing down her cheeks, her right hand reached out to the scar on her skin, and she started caressing it softly.

“Even if you kill me to get out of your way, you will never marry her,” she sneered disdainfully.

“You bitch. It’s all your fault,” the man said, slapping her. Blood started coming out of her mouth as he had used a lot of strength. Also, she had been slapped countless times before.

“You'd better let me go if you don’t want your family to be ruined,” she said as she wiped her blood, but her words made the man smirk.

“Oh, darling. How could your Greens get rid of my family? Have you forgotten why they want you to be married in our family?” the man asked, his lips curled up, his eyes lighting up, but there was still some mocking in them.

Grace didn’t reply to him as she knew her family’s strength better than anyone else. People outside saw what they wanted them to see, but it was not the real truth.

Did her parents really care about the marriage? No, in the beginning, she was the one who had been crushing on the guy and begged her parents for the marriage alliance. And after they didn’t care about her and what they wanted, Natalie wanted her out of the family, but marrying her off to that family. This made people think that the Greens were in trouble and wanted help.

Still, she knew that there was no one to save her or even to take revenge. They didn’t care. This fact broke her even more than the man’s actions. The hope that was in her eyes started fading, replaced with a lifeless look.

Seeing that she had stopped insisting and was even in despair, the man felt a rush of excitement in his heart. He couldn’t deny that he had been greedy for her beauty, but all there was at the moment was disgust.

“You can either choose to end your life by jumping from this floor, or I call my men inside to torture you till you die,” he said coldly, startling the woman.

Yes, she had suspected the man wanted her death, but she had been in denial; hearing it come from his mouth, it was a much bigger shock.

“You, how could you!” she said as she glared at the man.

“Have you never loved me?” she asked after hearing the man chuckling at her words. She was breaking down. He was her everything, but the man she loved deeply was the one who wanted her dead. How could she accept it?

“Love? Please don’t disgust me. I just wanted you in my bed, and that’s why I agreed to be your boyfriend, but who knew that you would never even let me kiss you?” the man replied, crushing Grace. She felt her heart being broken into pieces, the pieces piercing inside her as if they were needles tormenting her.

She clutched her hands at her heart, as if trying to hold it so that it can’t break into pieces, so that the pain can end, but now. She had been warned by her father, mother, and even her hateful sister, who always mocked her with that, but she just thought that they were just jealous that she had found a good man who loved her, while they didn’t.

Tears started flowing down even when she was trying her best to be strong.

The man froze as he had never expected her to react in that manner after his words. There wasn’t any pity in him or even his eyes; only happiness. Excitement seeing her being so tortured.

“Too weak. Just a few slaps and you have already gotten to this state. I am even afraid that you don’t have the strength to jump off,” he mocked. All her could see was Natalie running to him, smiling, as he believed that Natalie had refused his pursuit cause of Grace, getting rid of Grace completely meant getting Natalie.

Grace’s eyes were now empty. Now hope, no love, nothing. She felt that the man was correct; it was better to be dead, as no one wanted her. An urge to end her life started eating her up, causing her to start looking around the room, searching for something to end her life.

Something screamed to her that she was loved by people outside; it wasn’t worth ending her life. This made her hesitate. The eyes started flickering, showing hope that had ended. Yes, she had not found her biological parents, but they will surely love her the same way her adoptive parents loved Natalie, their blood.

She wiped the tears. Peter had been staring at her, so he saw all her moves and was stunned when he saw the hope in her eyes.

“Oh no, what is bitch fantasizing about right now?” he asked himself, starting to feel irritated.

He took an axe that was at a corner and walked towards Grace, a ruthless glint in his eyes.
