Chapter 4 Breaking through

Since the place was in chaos, with screams everywhere, her actions never attracted anyone.

She closed the door properly, making sure that if her mother woke up, she wouldn’t be able to open no matter how much she tried.

She ran towards the gunshot as she knew very well her sister must be there. Though they didn’t get along, she didn’t want anything to happen to Natalie, as she understood that if she was hurt, her parents would blame it on her. After all, it happened when they brought her to the hospital.

She tried her best to recall anything about the hospital attack as it had been on the news for days, but nothing. They had surely hidden everything from the public very well.

“Did you hear? The attackers are on the fifteenth floor, where the Morgans’ fifth young master is,” a nurse said as she ran, causing Grace to halt.

‘Fifth young Master Morgan? Isn’t that Tristan Morgan?’ she mumbled to herself as she was in shock. That was her classmate who never paid attention in class. Always playing games and sleeping. ‘Why would they be following him, and he doesn’t have any power in the Morgans’ family?’

Now that she knew which floor they were specifically on, she ran there, using the stairs, as using the elevator would alert the enemies.

When she reached the fourteenth floor, she saw security guards fighting the attackers. She hid herself to observe as she looked around for Natalie. “Dammit, she isn’t even here!” she cursed loudly, and the people fighting heard her clearly. They halted and looked in her direction. One of the attackers jumped in her direction; luckily, she saw the move and hurriedly avoided the kick.

“Oh? Seems the little girl is experienced like the other one,” the man said as he eyed Grace.

She started panicking. She didn’t know how to fight; she had avoided it due to her instincts. Seeing the expression on her face, they all started.

The attackers started laughing while the security guards frowned. “Go hide quickly,” one of them shouted.

Grace started looking around and saw an attacker’s body in the group. On his waist, there was a pistol; her eyes lit up, and she jumped in that direction, startling everyone.

“What the heck is she doing?” the security guard asked, his eyes full of disapproval as he stared at Grace's actions.

“There isn’t a hideout there, right?” an attacker asked with a frown, but all their eyes were fixed on her.

She took the chance when they were distracted, fell beside the bodies, took the pistols, and ran towards the nearby corner.

“Shit! Get her,” one of the attackers shouted angrily as he couldn’t believe that they had been fooled by a little girl while they were just looking at her.

Grace started analyzing the gun seriously, wanting to see which type it was, not caring what they were doing. Luckily, she didn’t take a lot of time.

After discovering that Natalie worked for the National Secret Service, she felt inferior and wanted to prove to everyone that she could do everything that Natalie could.

She booked some martial arts fighting classes so that she could learn how to fight, but she was always beaten up by her fighting partners, and she couldn’t take the misery anymore. One of her mates advised her that even if she didn’t know how to fight, she could learn shooting instead. So, she applied to shooting classes where she learned to use all kinds of guns. However, even before she went for the army’s recruitment contest, she died.

Never having been on a battlefield before and just trained with moving objects, this was the first time she had used her shooting skills in battle, which made her both excited and anxious.

Just when the attacker that had been near her got closer, she held her gun though clumsily, and shaking, thinking that if she didn’t manage to take the man down, she would be dead. She didn’t want to die just when she had been given a chance to make a difference.

She closed her eyes, took a deep breath so that she could calm herself. Breathed out, opened her eyes, which were so focused on the man, and fired a bullet. The man fell immediately as the bullet had gone straight to the man’s heart.

She felt a wave of excitement in her body; she didn’t lose. With confidence from the first win, she stood up and started firing at the attackers, aiming at their vital points. By the time the attackers had recovered from their shock, three more men were already down, which infuriated them so much.

They had not been using their guns before, but with her sudden move, they took them out and started firing towards her.

The security guards who had just sighed in relief when they saw she knew how to defend herself were startled and started hiding themselves as they didn’t have guns.

The patients and nurses on that floor started screaming when they heard the gunshots; luckily, they were far from where the fight was taking place.

“What are you doing? Take the guns on the ground and start shooting at them,” Grace shouted angrily when she saw their actions.

She went back to the corner every time a bullet was fired towards her.

“Give us cover,” one of the security guards murmured as he didn’t want the attackers to hear.

Where he was hiding, they could see Grace and directly contact her.

“Okay,” she replied before raising her left hand as she gestured to the man, three. She then took out the pistols that seemed full, hurriedly, and after the three secs passed, ran out of her hiding place and started firing crazily at the attackers.

The security guards hurriedly rushed towards the bodies, taking the pistols they came across before they and Grace retreated.

Soon, they started cooperating with her. When she saw that there weren’t a lot of attackers left, she started picking up the pistols on the floor, placing them on her waist.

She looked at the security guards. She shouted, “Take care of the rest.” Then ran upstairs.

By the time they reacted, she had already vanished. With the gun in her hand and having used it a while, she shot every attacker she saw on the way and went directly to the fourteenth floor.

When she arrived there, she was stunned. A lot of people were fighting; the security guards, together with some men who were in navy blue suits, seeming like bodyguards, were fighting the attackers.

She saw Natalie fighting some attackers. Every time an attacker escaped the bodyguards and the security team and tried running to the room near her, she fought them.

Grace stared at that room deeply; she could hear some fights in there, too. She looked around and saw that there were no attackers in her direction.

She hurriedly checked the pistols on her waist to see whether they had bullets in them before running so fast to that room, but when she reached near Natalie, she glanced at her.

Natalie's mind had always been alert, so immediately she heard footsteps coming her way, she turned around, ready to fight the invader, but was stunned when she saw who it was.

“What are you doing here? Go back immediately,” she said coldly, her eyes filled with anger. She was puzzled about how the latter had gotten out of where she had left them, and also, where was their mother?

“Catch them,” Grace shouted instead as she threw two pistols to her, ignoring Natalie’s instructions.

Natalie subconsciously lifted her hand to catch what was being thrown to her. When she realized what it was, she was stunned.

“You…” she started speaking, but from the corner of her eyes, she saw some attackers passing her, causing her to frown and take action.

With the guns in both hands, she started shooting at the attackers around her crazily. Wanting to end everything immediately so that she could go check on her mother and deal with Grace.

After throwing the guns at Natalie, Grace kicked the door open, a pistol in her hand. She then closed it after getting in. Her actions startled everyone who was inside, forcing them to look her way before continuing with what they were doing.

“Get…” The man in a hospital gown got angry when he recognized her and started shouting, but the actions that took place caused him to swallow the rest of his words and stare at Grace in disbelief.
