Chapter 3 his filthy desire

Amber’s P.O.V.

“Alpha.” I greeted Adrian formally while bowing my hand out of obligation, not that I had any respect for him.

“You need to report to Hector at the southeast border, Amber. He reported sighting rogues half a mile from the border there.” Adrian commanded me sternly.

“Got it, Alpha.” I replied monotonously and walked towards the exit.

“I really don’t understand, Adrian. Why do you need to send a wolf-less to the border? I admit that she was a great help in the past few attacks, but she can be a burden at any time if they come in a big number,” Naisha exclaimed angrily, belittling me in the process.

I was in my office at home when I received Adrian’s message, asking me to meet him in his office. I expected Naisha, his mate’s presence here, and to be honest, her jabs don’t bother me anymore.

I closed the door after exiting, shutting off their voices completely, and took a deep breath before walking towards the exit.

I didn’t know why, but I felt as if Adrian had something else to say to me, but he didn’t speak because of Naisha.

Or else he could have told me about the rogue's problem through a message.

I marched towards the parking lot to get my bike. My family had two adjacent villas at a good distance from the packhouse. So, I rode my bike here.

“David,” I opened my mind-link and connected to my elder brother.

“Where are you, Amber? Daniel just told me that Hector reported rogues.” David asked hurriedly, tension and fear evident in his voice.

“Alpha Adrian just instructed me to go to Hector. I am leaving for the southeastern border station.” I informed him while hopping on the bike.

“Why is he sending you there?” David grumbled worriedly.

“Because I am the best.” I chirped, trying to comfort him.

It was a secret. I can mind-link, but I prefer only my family and a few of my trusted friends to be linked with me.

That’s why Adrian and others used their phones to contact me.

“Amber.” I looked up and saw Adrian coming towards me. My face went expressionless again.

“Do you have any more instructions for me, Alpha?” I asked him formally, keeping my eyes blank.

He stopped beside my bike but kept a safe distance from me. He looked at me with a complicated gaze. His emotions were evident in his gaze.

My hunch was right.

I was immune to so many things, and Adrian’s emotions were at the top of that list.

“It has been years since you smiled at me, Amber. Can’t we be like we were before?” he asked me in a low voice, hurt and longing filling his voice.

“Once a glass breaks, no glue can make it perfect just like before. I am sure that you have heard this quote, Alpha.” I replied to him while igniting the engine. His face went blank immediately.

“Think about what I proposed yesterday, Amber. Even if your brothers love you and care for you, you still need strong support.” He remarked hurriedly when I was about to start driving.

I couldn’t describe how infuriated I was when he once again mentioned his filthy thoughts.

“I don’t need a man to support me, Alpha. And if you are so bothered by me being wolf-less.” I stopped, throwing a burning gaze filled with resentment.

“Just tell me directly. I would rather go rogue than be a mistress to someone like you.” I spat as I couldn’t contain my anger, and before he could even stretch a muscle of his face, I drove away.

“B*stard.” I muttered angrily while twisting the accelerator to go away from him as quickly as possible.

Yesterday, when I left the gym house, I found him waiting for me outside the lobby.

For the first time, the urge to kill him was so strong that I almost extended my claws to rip his head off his body when he suddenly asked me to be his mistress.

Why??

Because his wolf wanted me.

To f**k with him and his wolf.

Why can’t he just leave me alone? He already had the love of his life as his luna, and yet he desired me.

I felt as if millions of ants were crawling under my skin when a mere thought of being touched by him surfaced at the back of my mind.

Yes, I would rather go rogue than be touched by him.

I should talk to David now. I am very much capable of dealing with a he-wolf like Adrian, but I didn’t want to put my family’s life in danger.

If my brothers get to know about Adrian’s filthy thoughts and desires about me, they will kill him without any hesitation, and this is the least thing that I want.

Not when Laila is expecting their first pup.

Daniel was right. I should leave the pack now.

I stopped my bike where everyone had parked their vehicle near the border station of the said area where they reported seeing rogues.

I got off the bike and took a few deep breaths to calm myself down first. I had a situation to deal with, and for that I needed to stay calm.

I was the strategist of the pack, co-working with my brother Daniel. I was the best female warrior, but Adrian couldn’t give me a proper title because of the absence of my wolf.

Or this is the reason that he always gave me whenever Daniel raised the question about my position in the pack.

I understand his position on this topic because no wolf wants to be commanded or ordered by a wolf-less wolf.

I still fought and dealt with situations like this because of my brother Daniel, and because this pack is still my home.

“Hector.” I called the station leader while getting inside the station cell.

“They are more than twenty, Amber. Our cameras only captured them roaming around, but they didn’t attempt to be close to the border or make any other move that can be counted as a threat.” Hector told me worriedly.

“But they are here.” I mumbled while going through the surveillance footage outside the border.

“It means that they have a motive, but what?” I added it while narrowing my eyes.

“Are we expecting any guests today, Hector?” I asked him after thinking about a possibility.

“I don’t get any information related to that.” Hector replied to me immediately. I nodded to him and slowly straightened my back as I bent to see the footage earlier.

I took my phone out of my slacks pocket and dialed Daniel’s number in front of them.

My wolf didn’t surface on my sixteenth birthday, but I got some of the wolf’s capabilities after my seventeenth birthday, including the capability of mind-linking.

By then, the emotional abuse was so excessive for me that I became numb and cold towards everyone in the pack. Hence, I kept this ability a secret.

“Are we expecting any guests today, Daniel?” I asked my brother when he picked up the call.
