Chapter 5 she is scentless
No One’s P.O.V.
Amelia’s gaze was locked on her opponent, studying his body language and trying to figure out his weak points.
Victor, his opponent, was doing the same thing, and to his surprise, Amelia’s body language was aggressive, but her stance was defensive, showing no sign of any weakness.
She was light on her steps, but her grip on the hilt of her sword was strong. She wasn’t swaying her sword, but it was moving with her upper body’s movement.
They were fighting for more than ten minutes, but Amelia dodged his every attack decisively without attacking back. She had no expression on her beautiful face while fighting Victor, but Victor was now losing his patience.
This was the first time that someone faced him so long without showing fear.
Everyone around them was watching them anxiously. Victor was the best swordsman in the Frostbite Pack, and Amelia’s victory will win her the contract.
Amelia felt a very faint change in the air pressure around her. Her body picked on that, and before Victor’s sword could touch the loose strand of hair hanging on her face, she moved swiftly, ducked the dodge by moving her upper body away in the other direction, spun on her heel in the next direction, and the next second, her sword’s tip was right at the top of Victor’s Adam’s apple.
The whole crowd gasped in shock. She was so swift and quick on her movements that they couldn’t even register what she did before Victor was on her mercy.
She waited for him to admit his defeat. Victor couldn’t even muster the courage to gulp down the lump that formed in his throat. The tip of her sword was just pressed on his Adam’s apple, but any movement, and his throat will be cut.
“Bravo, Ms. Locke. You are truly a worthy opponent.” Alpha Gabe Frostbite praised her while clapping lightly, breaking the silence fill in the arena.
“Ask your gamma to admit defeat, Alpha Frostbite.” She demanded politely but in firm words.
Victor was scared and pissed at the same time.
“Victor, be a warrior, and admit your defeat. Only then she will retreat her sword.” Gabe commanded him firmly.
“I admit my defeat.” Victor muttered the words while lowering his eyes, still processing that he was defeated by a rogue.
Amelia immediately retreated her sword gracefully without even hurting a hair on his skin there.
“As the people say, you are really a good swordsman, Gamma Victor. You only need to work on your weight during the fight. The only reason that I succeeded in defeating you is that I am lightweight, and I used my agility against your heavy strength.” Amelia praised him honestly while pointing out the reason.
Victor slowly looked up and smiled bitterly. She was rogue, but he and his wolf felt respect towards her. She didn’t self-boast. She just pointed out her advantage in the match.
She bowed in front of him before walking towards her team.
“You scared me to death, girl. Don’t do this again in the future. It’s not that we won’t get more opportunities in the future.” Marcus scolded her while taking her sword from her.
“I don’t play a game until I am one hundred percent sure about my victory, Marcus. You know that,” she replied to him calmly, taking the water bottle from Arthur.
Marcus and Arthur shared a look, feeling helpless in front of her, but this is what she had become after she escaped death four years ago.
“Are you sure that Alpha Gabe will agree to do business with us?” Arthur asked anxiously while looking at the people around them who were still looking at them with different expressions, but their guards were still up against them.
“He promised. If not, the words will go around, and Alpha Frostbite loves his reputation more than his life.” Amelia replied to him coldly and drank more water.
Marcus just watched her with a pang of pain in his heart. In the past two years, she did everything that she could do to give their group a comfortable life and stability. She not only protected them but also found ways to make them a name in both the human and werewolf worlds.
“Mr. Smith.” Gabe’s beta, Nick called Marcus, made all of them looked in his direction, but Amelia continued drinking water.
“Alpha Gabe invited you all in his office.” Nick gestured to them with his hand towards the way.
“Yeah, sure.” Marcus replied and looked at Amelia who had just finished drinking water.
They all followed Nick, who glanced at the petite and beautiful rogue she-wolf, who was more mysterious than the mystery of their kind. She was a rogue, but he never felt any threat coming from her.
Instead, he felt an urge to protect her.
She had an expressionless face, and her eyes had a dead expression. He was sure that she would be in her twenties, but everything about her made him curious to know about her.
Their kind hated rogues, but they welcomed this group of rogues in their pack because of their successful business in the human world and because of this she-wolf.
They reached Alpha’s office, which wasn’t in their pack house.
Marcus entered with his team and helped Amelia get a chair before sitting on a chair beside her.
Gabe was talking on the phone when they entered. He gestured for them to sit down while finishing his conversation. He reached there before them because he had some business to finish.
Gabe put his phone down and looked at the people sitting in front of him with a faint smile.
“As I agreed earlier, I am willing to listen to your proposal, and if it really benefits me and my pack, I promise that I will have no problem with working with you guys.” Gabe said to them calmly.
Marcus took a deep breath of relief and looked at Arthur, who also looked relieved.
“Thanks, Alpha Frostbite. I assure you that you will get an honest and beneficial business opportunity from our proposal.” Marcus assured him confidently and looked at Amelia.
“But before that, I want to know what position Ms. Locke did hold in your company,” he asked curiously.
Marcus smiled faintly this time. “She is the Co-CEO of our company, Alpha Frostbite, and to be honest, this is her project, and she is the one who suggested this meeting with you.” Marcus replied to him, sounding proud while looking at Amelia dotingly. Gabe noticed that Marcus was mated but there was no mark on Amelia's neck. He wondered what the real relationship between Amelia and Marcus was.
“She is a werewolf. I can say that, but she has no wolf and no scent. Why?” Gabe suddenly asked and everyone stiffened.
Except for Amelia, both Arthur and Marcus stiffened and looked at Amelia worriedly.
Gabe raised his brows in surprise when he noticed no ripple in her facial expression. She was still and expressionless.
“She…. She was once poisoned heavily with wolfsbane, Alpha Frostbite.” Marcus answered with some hesitation, but they knew that they needed to answer this question anyways.
