Chapter 6 they want alliances

Gabe immediately raised his brows in surprise. This was the first time that he witnessed this kind of effect of wolfsbane on a wolf.

He wanted to ask more, but an oppression coming from Amelia stopped him from opening his mouth.

He looked at Nick, who also had that same curious and surprised expression on his face, but Gabe decided not to dwell on that.

No matter if she was a rogue or not, the pain of the past is always the same for everyone.

“Let’s start with the presentation now.” Gabe asked and took a deep breath before leaning back on his chair.

“Do you think that this is because of the wolfsbane?” Nick asked Gabe through mind-link while Amelia started preparing for the presentation.

Gabe had everything in the room for a business meeting. He watched Arthur opening a laptop while Amelia stood up and went behind him.

“There would be some other facts too, but I sensed honesty in his words. He is telling the truth,” Gabe replied to him while watching Amelia working with Arthur.

They were working in perfect synchronization, showing that they had done this so many times in the past.

“This group of rogues is really strange, Gabe. I investigated them. Marcus is the one who started this group eight years ago. A very long time for a rogue to stay sane.” Nick told him through mind-link while watching them.

“Not only are they still sane but also leading a successful business and a comfortable life somewhere instead of spending their lives in hiding from packs.” Gabe remarked, still intrigued to learn more about Amelia and Marcus.

Amelia cleared her throat and looked at them with the same blank gaze. “I need your permission to start the presentation, Alpha Frostbite.” She requested formally.

Gabe nodded and she went to the board where Arthur projected the presentation slides.

For the next half an hour, she explained all the aspects of the project to them in a professional manner. Gabe and Nick were amazed by her professional level.

She provided all the information that was enough for Gabe and his pack to consider working with them.

After she finished the presentation, she looked at Marcus, who took the lead from there.

“Alpha Frostbite?” Marcus asked him calmly. Gabe chuckled and looked at Nick, who also had an amused smile dancing on his lips.

“I must say that you have groomed her well, Marcus. Let’s have a second round of meetings in the next two weeks. My team will contact you soon. I expect a successful and happy corporation with you.” Gabe replied with a professional smile this time.

Marcus looked at Arthur, and they smiled in relief.

“I also have one more request, Alpha Frostbite.” Amelia said to him calmly. They all looked at her with raised brows.

“This is not related to business though, more like a personal favor to our group.” She added and Gabe knitted his brows.

“In a few days, we are going to request the Alpha King to grant us a pack name so that our people can live a safe life.” She requested calmly.

Gabe knitted his brows in confusion. Marcus and Arthur became anxious. They had planned to submit a plea to the royal pack in a few days, but Amelia’s move was unexpected.

“And exactly how many people do you have in your group, Ms. Locke?” Gabe asked curiously.

“Exactly two hundred and seven families, Alpha Frostbite. We have pups, infants, and pregnant she-wolves too. As their leader, we want to give them a proper place to live.” She explained and then opened her bag again.

She took out another thin file and placed it on the table in front of Alpha Gabe.

“We already have a piece of land, but the problem doesn’t end here. We need someone to vouch for us.” She added further and Alpha Gabe furrowed his brows.

“Why us?” Nick asked them curiously.

Amelia smiled while moving towards Arthur. He took a deep breath and looked at him calmly.

“We have more than 70 big and small packs in this content, Beta Nick, and more than 25 packs in this particular region. Out of them, your pack is the only one that hasn’t banished a single pack member in the past seven years. It’s not like you don’t have criminals, but it means that your judiciary system is better than other packs.” Arthur explained, making both Gabe and Nick widen their eyes in shock.

Gabe had taken over the alpha position from his father three years ago after he found his mate. He remembered that he never banished anyone but punished the wrongdoers inside the pack.

“In our group, all the people are the ones who were banished from their packs for wrong reasons. Some were almost on the verge of death when we found them. We never sheltered anyone who committed any crime in his or her pack. Given everyone’s biased opinion towards the word “rogue,” we need someone strong like you to vouch for us.”

Gabe looked at Nick. They shared a look, hesitation evident in their behavior.

“In the file in front of you, I have produced information on some of our people who were banished recently from their packs. You can investigate before deciding whether to help us or not, Alpha Gabe. You have a pack to keep safe. We assure you that we will never put other people’s lives in danger for any kind of profit.” Marcus assured him calmly.

Marcus and his team knew that they would have a long and exhausting fight with the packs and the king before they get the approval because the word rogue is a taboo in itself.

“Uhhhhh…. Well,” Gabe spoke hesitantly while rubbing his temple, feeling conflicted.

He didn’t know why he wanted to believe their words but helping them meant starting a grudge with those packs who banished these rogues from their packs.

Nick suddenly got a mind-link from the head of the warrior.

“We have a situation, Beta Nick. The king and his convoy is only at a distance of fifteen minutes from our border.” The head of the warrior informed him through mind-link.

Nick’s breath hitched and he immediately looked at Gabe.

“Ummm…. Let’s talk about this in our second meeting, Marcus. The king is almost at our border.” Nick said to Marcus hurriedly.

“What? Why? Why aren’t we informed?” Gabe yelled in shock while standing up.

Marcus and Arthur shared a look and immediately started packing up. Amelia wasn’t affected, though.

“Relax, Alpha Frostbite. In the past three months, the king visited a few packs without any announcement. Your pack is the fourth strongest pack. So, this may be a surprise visit. You don’t need to panic.” Amelia comforted him in a relaxed manner, which surprised Gabe the most.

"You will still cross him at the border if you leave right now. You should take another route." Gabe suggested while Nick started the preparation of welcoming the king.

"You don't worry about us, Alpha Gabe. Amelia will cover us." Marcus assured him with a faint smile while taking their bags, ready to go.
