Chapter 7 they rose higher
Alexander’s P.O.V.
“I really don’t get what’s in your mind, Alexander. In the past two months, this is the seventh pack we are raiding. What exactly are you trying to find out?” Hunter asked me, grumbling a little, but I could feel his frustration.
I didn’t answer him, as I didn’t feel like saying anything to him about what I wanted to do.
It had been four years since that incident and four years of me chasing a ghost. I didn’t even remember her face but only those dull and lifeless eyes.
Those eyes were still haunting me, and I didn’t know what to do except chase her ghost.
“We can use this visit to meet Alpha Gabe’s sister too. She is 25 years old, and she is still unmated. The council has put her at the top of the potential queen’s list.
“My mating or marriage is not their concern, and it will never be, Hunter. If you are interested, you can have this meeting. You can choose her as your mate.” I replied to him coldly without looking in his direction.
“I am not taking a chosen mate, Alex.” He grumbled and I twitched my lip.
The silence that followed after that was welcoming. I continued staring at the buildings, parks, and plants here and there moving in the opposite direction of my car, but my mind was still thinking about her.
She wasn’t my mate but what happened that night shattered inside me. It had been four years since I last touched a female, and that female was her.
Bernard hid his crime so deceptively that I couldn’t do a thing to him. I still punished him for drugging me and stripped him of the alpha title, appointed his younger brother as the future alpha, and sentenced death to Bernard’s future beta, Asher Finlay.
Still, I felt that I couldn’t avenge her.
“We are about to reach their border, my king, but I just got a mind-link from one of our shadows following us that he smelled rogues entering the pack. Their smell is faint now. They went inside through the main entrance and haven’t come out yet.” My gamma, Edwin, informed me in a serious tone.
“They let rogues enter the pack?” Hunter asked him in shock and I also furrowed my brows.
“This is what he told me. I request to stop the convoy outside the pack and clear the situation with them first.” Edwin suggested it, but I shook my head.
“Don’t. Gabe is not someone who can digest a threat. If he let the rogues enter the pack, then he must have some reason.” Hunter speculated and I agreed with him on that.
Among all the alphas in this region, Gabe is one of the intelligent and rational ones.
“But we can’t take our king in the place with rogues’ presence without getting the reason behind their presence there.” Edwin argued, and I felt annoyed.
“Our visit here is unannounced. Do you think that rogues nowadaysget superpowers to know my next move in advance?” I asked him annoyingly. He shut his mouth immediately.
Hunter started working on his laptop, almost smashing the keyboard with his strong beating of fingertips on it.
“I got reports from our team keeping eyes on the pack’s businesses in this region. They said that a group of rogues is approaching different packs these days to expand their business running successfully in the human world.” Hunter told me and I looked at him with a surprised look.
“Their leader’s name is Marcus Smith, and they started this business at a very small scale two years ago. Their company’s name is S&L TechForge. They basically deal in technology and research.” Hunter told me and my eyes widened in surprise.
“You said that they started their business two years ago, right?” I asked him, and he nodded in agreement.
“Why wasn’t I informed about this?” I asked him calmly, but he could sense my suppressed anger here.
“I….. got the information about them from time to time, my king, but they basically dealt with human companies. They aren’t associated with any pack till now.” He replied, but his tone lacked confidence.
“Two cars are approaching us from opposite sides, my king. I guess they are coming out of the pack.” Edwin informed us at the same time.
I immediately looked at the opposite side of the road. “Stop those cars now.” I ordered when I noticed that the car in front had tinted glasses.
Our convoy immediately stopped, and I got out of the car. “My King.” Hunter exclaimed in panic but I crossed the road; my warriors almost ran behind me with Edwin and Hunter.
“Guard the king’s car.” Hunter yelled behind me, but I stopped in the mid-divider while watching those cars.
They also slowed their speed and stopped at a distance from us.
The warriors surrounded me, and I waited for them to come out or take any action.
The doors opened and two tall rogues came out of the car. I stiffened when I realized that they didn’t have any smell earlier, but it suddenly resurfaced.
“My king. We meant no harm.” One of them spoke respectfully, raising his hands above his shoulders in surrender.
I narrowed my eyes when I remembered who he was.
“Marcus. Long time no see.” I remarked casually and he smiled stiffly.
Others also came out of the cars, raising their hands in surrender, but I could feel that someone else was still inside the car.
“I am flattered that our king knows me, my king. I hope that it should be in a good way.” He replied politely, but he was nervous.
I narrowed my eyes when I noticed the mate mark on his neck.
Wow!!!!!
Just wow!!!!!
A rogue like him found his fated mate, and I, the king of the werewolves, am still unmated.
“Marcus Smith. The founder of S&L TechForge?” Hunter asked and I raised my brows in surprise.
“Beta Hunter is well-informed. I am Marcus Smith, and he is my beta, Luca Ashford, and also the co-founder of the company.” He admitted and introduced the other rogue, who was on the driver’s side of the first car.
Four rogues were standing outside the second car, and I must add here that all of them had a clean, professional look instead of the filthy and rough look of a rogue.
Edwin grumbled something under his breath, but I didn’t pay attention to him.
“Care to have a chat with me, Marcus?” I asked and he immediately looked at Luca, worry and fear evident in their gazes.
My breath hitched when the back seat door of their car opened. I didn’t get any scent of the person coming out of the car now, but her presence was strong.
A small hand appeared on the side of the door, and slowly a head with silver hair emerged out of the car.
“What the f**k? Why can’t we smell this person?” Hunter asked me through mind-link. My whole concentration was on that head now.
I stopped breathing when a pair of cold silver eyes appeared in front of me.
