Chapter 4 Saving Her
The words of me dropping Alyssa off and becoming a silent savior rose leading Uncle to be pleased.
Shit.
“I thought you said you won’t help or work with them,”
“So what?” I acted oblivious, focusing entirely on work.
“You know, it won’t hurt you if you express yourself once,”
“I don't have time for it. I am busy, Uncle,”
I did not like it.
I wasn’t doing it for the praises, or to be a hero, but for myself. In a sense, I was being selfish- selfish for my own redemption.
“Yes, yes, my occupied man, I am going. If you are free, you can come and have dinner. Your Auntie will cook for you herself,”
“I will think about it. Thank you for the offer,”
Uncle was about to leave, knowing it was futile but Amy came with a file that contained my key to attain peace… unaware it was about to get worse.
“Sir-”
“Hmm? Did you look through what I asked for, Amy?”
“Yes, I did and look what I found,”
Nodding, she handed me a file which pulsated my beats madly upon reading.
“This…”
Raising brows with shock, clutching the papers roughly, I chuckled wickedly. The news led me to rise from my seat with a glimpse of darkness quickly.
“Vince…?”
“This is brilliant! Amazing job, Amy,”
Thrilled for the consequences that file was going to bring, I discarded the looks I received and turned to leave.
“If that cannot open her eyes then I doubt anything in this world can,”
Distressed at my display of madness, Uncle cleared his throat to get my attention.
“What is this, Vince? What are you doing?”
“What I should,”
“But- Vince-”
“I must leave, I will see you later, bye, Uncle,”
Declaring, I refused to discuss what I found and left the office hastily.
That was it. I had finally found it.
Unbothered if it was late, or I abandoned a load of his work- which I never did before- all for the sake of one achievement.
I rushed.
With a strange glee etched on my features, as if I was happy about her separation more than her- Deep down, I was.
Soon, I arrived at Alyssa’s place.
Eyes seeking the poor soul desperately and when my gaze linked with her, a smile adorned me.
“Alyssa,”
Arching an eyebrow perfectly, she frowned, “Vince? What are you doing here at this hour? Are you looking for Ken?”
“I am not here for that asshole. I am here for you, I want to show you something,”
“What?”
“Who is it, Darling?- Vince? What are you doing here?”
At that moment, Ken came as well, acting like an affectionate husband, vanishing the two-second smile that emerged on my face, replacing it with a scowl.
“Don’t call her darling when you don’t mean it, dammit,”
“This is not for you to decide. She is my wife. Who are you to speak between?” Ken scoffed, approaching us, intrigued by what brought me here with a file.
“A simple well-wisher,”
Smirking victoriously, I handed Alyssa the file, “Here, Alyssa, take a look,”
Not thinking deeply, she began to read until the horror coated her hazel eyes accompanied by a soft quivering of lips.
Now she realized what a mistake she had made.
“What… what is this?”
Releasing a weak whisper, her fingers gripped the papers with tears clouding her sight and confronting the asshole.
“What is it, Alyssa?” Ken questioned, curious.
Peeking to see but losing her mind, impotent to carry the ache of this marriage anymore, she threw the files on his face, staggering him.
“What the fuck is this, asshole!?”
“Wha-”
“Sadie is carrying your child and you kept this affair a secret!?”
Upon yelling, the anguish enhanced and a painful sobbing echoed in the hall from her plump lips.
The pleasant look of victory soon vanished when she cried, it sounded terrible.
“You said you won’t see her again then what is this!?”
Clutching her heart to indicate her pain, she stepped back followed by the tears of disappointment when her love lost.
To which my body reacted on its own, “Don't shed tears for him, Alyssa,” I whispered but to no avail.
“How can I not, Vince?!”
Curling my hand in a fist, controlling myself, I moved back, glaring outrageously at him for causing her this much suffering.
I hated it.
She did not deserve such a horrible man.
“How could you do this to me, Ken!? What about me!? Our love!?”
“Have some shame after cheating on me twice!”
Gritting her teeth at his silence, she ended up hitting his chest.
“Say something, you bastard!”
But done with her shouting, Ken grabbed her wrist in a hurtful grip, glaring into her soul with a heartless response.
“So what?” That motherfuc-
“W-What?”
Tears streamed down when a single sign of love was eradicated, she saw nothing for her in those cruel eyes.
This was the end of the world she fought for.
“What is the problem? You said your love is enough to carry this marriage so fucking stick to your words,”
“Do you think I am a slave of your love, huh!?”
“Are you not?”
“Shut up!”
Growling, Ken pushed her away and raised his hand to slap her, breaking all boundaries blatantly.
“Stop shouting in my house, dammit!”
Done with his audacious demeanor, my body reacted instinctively as I grabbed his wrist, pushing him away.
“Don’t you fucking dare to raise this hand against her, Ken,” I growled, grabbing Ken’s collar, loading a punch on his jaw.
Warning him strictly to not damage her more than he already did.
“You..? What is your problem? What do you want?!”
“Divorce her. Now,” I demanded, selfishly making a decision on her behalf.
But, I was no longer in the mood to witness further abuse and toxicity.
Alyssa’s sobbing increased, pulling her hair when her life was falling apart by her own choices.
Ruined by love, her hopes were killed, Ken had shown her worth explicitly.
Her love had lost. She was defeated.
I knew that and offered her gently, once again.
“Do you still want to stay with a man like him, Alyssa?”
“Huh..?”
Stopping for a heartbeat, my offer was too good to resist, especially after what he did.
She knew she needed that desperately.
She wanted to but some unknown strings made her silent. Shrinking her eyes, her eyes spoke ‘yes’ but confessing from lips was too hard.
“Do not be afraid, I stand with you, if you don’t want this abomination to continue further, tell me. I won’t let it,”
Ken laughed at his attempt, knowing why she was incapable of leaving him.
“You think she can?”
“What do you mean?”
“Our marriage contract says who will initiate divorce will pay the other person a hundred million-”
I cut him off dominantly, “I will pay,”
His jaw dropped.
“Vince…?”
Flabbergasted, the one she considered a stranger, supported her. By which right I was doing this? I did not know myself.
“Is that it?” I smirked triumphantly, resting my hands in my pockets.
“Y-You can’t be serious. Wh- What is your relation with her?! Why are you doing this?”
“I am saving her from her doom. What I was trying to do since your marriage, you never worth it, bastard,” I enunciated.
“Fine then, take this bitch away! I wasn’t dying for her either!”
I scoffed, showing him another paper because I came prepared.
“Here, sign these papers,”
Ken smirked coldly, glancing at the divorce paper with an impish glance.
“Oh, you came prepared huh? Do you expect me to believe you are doing this for ‘humanity’ only?”
“Whatever the reason is, it doesn’t concern you. Just sign them, release her from your cage,”
“Fine,”
‘Finally… I did it. Did you see Lucia? I am saving her, she is freed from her abusive marriage,’ I thought delightfully when Alyssa signed the papers.
After signing the papers and getting his check, Ken chuckled darkly, sending questionable looks and mocked, refusing to believe it was out of compassion.
But, I couldn’t care less about his opinion.
“Where are you taking her? To ‘your’ home, hmm?”
Rolling my eyes, discarding his taunt due to tranquility filling my heart, everything else was useless before it.
I motioned Alyssa to follow, “I am taking her back to her home, where she belongs,”
“Vince,” Alyssa called me vaguely.
Staring in disbelief how I initiated the first step of saving her as I announced with a soft, reassuring smile.
“Let’s go, Alyssa, there is no need for you to stay with this unworthy piece of shit, you are free from him,”
