Chapter 334
Gavin’s POV
“We have a meeting with the chairman scheduled for next week,” Taylor said as he entered my office. “Now that we have evidence of the deceit on Levi’s end, we can finally put an end to him. He’s also hacked your banking accounts, and we found a transfer in progress. It’s pending, but it’s open, so money will flow into his account straight from your accounts. We caught it in time and have gotten our system back up and running, so we can stop it before the transfer completes.”
“I figured that was going to happen; thankfully, I have backup funds,” I said, leaning back in my seat, a smirk on my face. Once I found out he hacked the system, I had a feeling he’d find a way into my personal banking accounts as well.
I wasn’t stupid; I was always prepared.
I put a percentage of my pay in a separate, locked-down account only I can access. Passive income flowed into it regularly and had been for years.
It has more money in it than my other accounts. It’s also connected to my black Amex card that has no limit. The card is currently locked, and I’d have to go to the Silver Crescent Grand bank to unlock it using my secret code in a vaulted room that only I can access.
Not even the bankers can get into the vault or into this account.
“Let me guess, he’s planning on using my own funds to purchase the Moon Gem?” I asked, a dark chuckle leaving my lips. “Was this auction just to let me see that he has the upper hand?”
“It seems that way,” he said, leaning back in his seat. “Now that we've got our system under control, we can put a stop to the transfer while it’s happening. But your account is open as we speak, so the transfer is currently pending.”
I nodded.
“Do we think someone in the bank is helping him get access to my account?”
“It’s always a possibility,” Taylor said. “But with the system hack, there were several hours where everything was shut down. He could have started the transfer process during those hours. It’s hard to tell. The tech is still looking into it. They are putting a stop to the transfer as we speak.”
“Don’t,” I said sharply. “He thinks he has me beat, but he has no idea the amount of money I have outside of those accounts. I’ll head to the bank and open my secret account. It’s untouchable by anyone other than me.”
“And you’re going to let him take the rest of your money?” Taylor asked. “You don’t want us to stop the transfer from taking place?”
I shook my head.
“I need the evidence that he hacked my account and transferred all my funds to his account. I won’t have the evidence if you stop it from happening. I’ll get the money back, but I need it to be processed first.” I told him. “Also, see if you can get a hold of the other chairmen. I want to meet with them sooner. We can get them a flight to my territory if they are willing to travel here.”
Taylor grinned.
“I like how you think,” he said. “Oh, by the way, there was also a large fund transfer to Daisy Baldwin… so it was clear he paid Daisy to steal the Moon Gem. It would make sense that auctioning it was just a show for your benefit and humiliation, or else he’d just take the gem from Daisy herself.”
Taylor was right; it was for my humiliation. The auction was being televised around the nation, and he wanted the world to see me crumble. He wanted them to think I was weak and broke.
“Daisy did this for money?” I asked, focusing my attention on that one factor. “The Baldwins are already rich, and she’s a trust fund baby. There’s no way she blew through her entire trust already.” Then again, Daisy did love to spend money, so it shouldn’t really surprise me.
Taylor shook his head.
“I don’t think that’s the only thing Daisy wanted,” he said, his eyes shifting to the ground for a moment.
“What did you find out?” I asked, leaning forward in my seat, giving Taylor my full attention. It was clear that he knew something that he wasn’t saying.
“There was a larger dose of Moonshade in her system than we thought. Someone was deliberately trying to get rid of the baby…”
My wolf growled, breaking through my otherwise calm composure. Taylor stepped back, not sure what I was about to do. My eyes blazing with fury, Moonshade was a powerful sedation drug that could cause harm to the baby if a certain amount was given to her. It was also a drug that could make Judy compliant against her will and in a state of sedation so that whatever happened to her would be without a fight.
Thank God Taylor sent for Elizabeth when he did.
After I asked Dr. Johnathan to get Elizabeth Pierce to the hospital, he claimed that he did, but I had a bad feeling about it because I didn’t actually see him make the call. So, I called Taylor.
It turns out that the doctor did, in fact, lie and never called her; my suspicions were correct.
That’s how I knew for certain something fucked was happening at the hospital. Taylor sent for Elizabeth himself, and she was there within half an hour.
The second Elizabeth saw her state of mind, she knew something was wrong and kicked all the doctors working on her out.
“We need to find out who the fuck gave her the Moonshade in the first place,” I hissed. My voice was more animalistic than intended. I was there when Elizabeth got the test results back from Judy’s blood work, and she found traces of Moonshade in her system. After that, the hospital was on lockdown, and most of the doctors and nurses were rounded up for questioning. Now that I know it wasn’t just used for sedation, and it was intended to harm my pup and mate… I was fucking livid.
“We are figuring that out now. Derek and some of the other gammas are questioning them as we speak. I’ll let you know once we have answers,” he told me. “But for now, try to calm down. Your mate is fine… she’s recovering well.”
“I need to see her,” I said, shaking my head. “It’s been too long, and I need to see her for myself.” My wolf wasn’t going to be okay until he knew for certain that she was okay.
“What about Daisy? We can’t let her just go free. She clearly wanted the baby and Judy gone, and she used Levi to make that happen,” Taylor reminded me, halting me before I reached the door.
A low growl escaped my throat.
He was right. How could I have forgotten? I couldn’t let that go unpunished.
“We hold a trial for her,” I said without turning back to Taylor. “I want her to admit to everything she had done wrong before banishing her. The only reason why I am allowing her to keep her life is because she was Melissa’s sister… otherwise, I’d order her death. I want her to see Judy thriving as a Luna while she suffers with nothing. I want to strip her of her heiress title and make sure she leaves this pack with nothing. With Levi losing his ranking and his territory, she’ll have nowhere to go. The other Lycans won’t take in a rogue like her.”
For someone like Daisy, that was worse than death.
“I’ll get a trial set up,” Taylor said, typing away on his phone.
I left without another word.
Judy had been in the hospital for a little over 12 hours, and it was driving both me and my wolf crazy. At least I knew that she was okay, and as was the baby… they were both in good hands now that Elizabeth was there.
When I got to the hospital, Elizabeth was already waiting for me in the waiting room.
Taylor must have told her that I was on my way. My wolf growled slightly upon seeing her, anticipating an argument.
“Don’t try and stop me,” I said through my teeth. “I need to see her.”
“I wasn’t going to stop you, Alpha,” she told me, surprising me. “But I do need to speak to you about something before you go in there.”
I paused and looked at her. I could see the seriousness and concern in her eyes, and it made my entire body freeze.
“What is it?” I asked. “What happened?”
“Did Judy eat or drink anything at the party?” She asked.
I thought back to the party, a frown marring my lips. There was a ton of food being catered before everyone gathered for the Alpha’s speech. Judy was offered wine, but she declined. Then she was offered some juice, which she accepted. She also ate a little off a platter that was being served as well, but it wasn’t a lot.
“Yes,” I remarked. “She was offered Juice and some food off a platter. I had some of the food as well.”
“Was the juice sealed?” She asked suddenly.
“It was in a glass,” I answered. “The staff initially tried to give her wine, but she declined it, saying she wasn’t drinking this evening. So, they got her juice instead.”
Eliza hummed as she nodded.
“What is it?” I urged, my patience running thin.
“She didn’t just have Moonshade in her system. There were traces of Wolfbane as well…”
My heart stopped.
“What??” I asked.
“I wanted to test for it just in case because of the blood… I didn’t think that just stress caused it. The results took longer to come back, but they did come back, and there was Wolfbane in her system,” she told me. “I think that’s what caused the almost miscarriage. When she got here, they sedated her and left her… I think they were waiting for the Wolfbane to finish its job. The IV they had given to her had traces of it as well, but thankfully, I got here in time and removed it before it did any real damage. Her wolf had faced some serious complications from it, though, and is a lot weaker than it was before all of this happened. Her wolf is unable to protect the baby right now… at least not until she gets stronger. It’s better if she rests and doesn’t have too much stress. I didn’t tell her about the wolfbane because I worried it would upset her more than she already is… but I did tell her about everything else before I knew about the Wolfbane and the fact that her wolf is weak. I wish I hadn’t said anything… but she can’t handle anything more right now.”
I nodded, my fists clenching and unclenching.
Anger was fueling me, and I knew I needed to calm down before I actually saw her. I needed to blow off some steam. She was right; Judy couldn’t handle more stress right now, especially if her wolf is unable to protect the baby in her current state.
I turned away without another word and quickly rushed out of the hospital. I shifted into my wolf form, shredding my clothes in the process. The second I was in wolf form and running towards the open forest, I sent a mindlink to Taylor.
“Find out who worked at the Redmoon Pack during the party. Someone there drugged my mate, and I want him dead.”
