Chapter 6 I Hate Mom
Sean got into a fight with someone and ended up in the hospital.
Seraphine's eyes flew open, her body tensing involuntarily.
After all, he was her biological son. Even though Seraphine had already decided to give Sean to Vivian, hearing that he was hospitalized still made her heart ache.
"Ms. Bell, could you please explain what happened?"
After taking several deep breaths, Seraphine barely managed to control her emotions.
She asked Marlowe in a low voice, "Sean is usually such a good boy. Why would he suddenly get into a fight with a classmate and end up in the hospital?"
"Things got this bad, but it's really not Sean's fault. Haven't there been a lot of negative news about you online recently? Some kids at kindergarten said bad things about you in front of Sean. He got so upset that he had an episode."
Marlowe awkwardly assured Seraphine.
"Don't worry, the school will definitely give you and Sean a proper explanation."
"When Sean comes back to school, I'll make that child who fought with him do a self-criticism in front of the whole class and apologize to Sean publicly."
Sean got into conflict with another kid because of her?
Does this mean he still cares about her?
Seraphine's heart began to pound violently. She didn't really listen to what else Marlowe said, brushed her off with a few words, hung up, and rushed to the hospital as fast as she could.
……
"What are you doing here?"
When Seraphine reached Sean's hospital room, she was stopped by Charles, who came out of the room.
Charles looked at Seraphine coldly, his tone indifferent, with a hint of blame in his eyes.
"You should leave. You embarrassed Sean at school. Sean told me he doesn't want to see you."
Did she embarrass Sean at school?
If he hadn't manipulated public opinion, her name would have dropped off the trending topics long ago!
Even at this point, Charles was still habitually putting all the blame on her.
"You must be Sean's attending physician, right? Hello, I'm Sean's mother. Before coming to the hospital, I brought Sean's previous medical records and my own care notes."
Seraphine ignored Charles and took out a folder from her bag, solemnly handing it to the male doctor standing next to Charles.
"My notes include the times of Sean's episodes, his daily medication dosages, types of medication, dietary restrictions, and sleep schedule. I hope these can help with Sean's treatment going forward."
"You actually kept care notes? This is very important. It can save us doctors, a lot of trouble and spare patients a lot of suffering."
The doctor took the folder from Seraphine, his eyes full of approval.
"Parents as responsible as you are are so rare these days!"
"Although Sean's father cares a lot about Sean, too, he doesn't really know about Sean's allergens or his daily medications. If I'm not mistaken, you're the one who usually takes care of Sean at home, right?"
Seraphine looked up at Charles.
Only then did she notice that Charles was also looking at her, with a complicated expression, as if he was finally seeing her good qualities.
So he hadn't known before how much energy she'd spent taking care of Sean.
"We divided the work. He's responsible for Sean's studies, and I'm responsible for Sean's daily life. He's very responsible, too."
"Seraphine, you don't dare accept the doctor's praise because you feel guilty, don't you?"
As soon as she finished speaking, before the doctor or Charles could respond, a mocking laugh came from behind her.
"Vivian?"
Seraphine turned around abruptly, frowning involuntarily. "What are you doing here?"
"I came to see Sean. Sean personally called and asked me to come."
Vivian walked right past her and went to Charles's side, intimately linking her arm with his.
"Charles, is Sean okay? He called me on his phone watch and said that because Seraphine is jealous of me, the whole plagiarism accusation has reached his classmates' ears."
"Now his classmates all think he's a bad person's child and won't play with him. Sean also told me that he thinks Seraphine is so embarrassing, and he doesn't want Seraphine to be his mother anymore."
"It's all my fault. If I were more ordinary, maybe Seraphine wouldn't be jealous of me."
At that moment, the door to Sean's hospital room suddenly opened.
"Vivian, you're finally here."
Pale-faced Sean ran out of the room, didn't even glance at Seraphine, and threw himself straight into Vivian's arms.
Seeing this scene, the doctor who had just praised Seraphine frowned involuntarily. His look toward Seraphine changed from admiration to disdain.
"Sean..."
Seraphine's fingers trembled slightly, her eyes fixed on Sean. "Sean, come to me, okay?"
"No!"
Sean huddled in Vivian's arms, looking at her with disgust.
"Why did you come? Go apologize to Vivian online right now, or I'll never forgive you! You're a bad woman, I hate you!"
He hates her?
So what Vivian and Charles said before was all true?
He fought with his classmate not because his classmate said bad things about her, but because she embarrassed him.
Seraphine clenched her fists, suddenly understanding.
"I haven't done anything wrong. I won't apologize to Vivian."
"Sean, if you really don't want me to be your mother, I'll divorce your father."
After calmly saying this, Seraphine turned and walked toward the hospital exit.
"You get upset just from a few words. Why are you so petty now?"
"Hmph, a housewife with no job like you wouldn't dare divorce Dad anyway!"
