Chapter 2 Signing the Divorce Agreement

The bedroom light changed brightness again.

Aurora adjusted the light just enough to see the tiny text on the divorce agreement clearly, then finally looked up at Oliver.

His handsome face showed no expression. The way he looked at her wasn't like looking at a wife, but more like looking at a business partner.

In that moment, she suddenly realized that Oliver wasn't the emotionally detached person who didn't care about feelings like she'd thought.

Quite the opposite.

Oliver cared deeply about his feelings, which is why he could show up for Claire time and time again whenever she needed him.

When obstacles appeared in his relationship with Claire, he would take action to remove them.

And she was the first stone Oliver wanted to kick out of the way.

Aurora glanced at the pen beside the agreement, thinking somewhat sarcastically that Oliver really was thorough.

"Okay."

She obediently picked up the pen and signed her name in the space below.

From the moment she saw the divorce agreement to signing it, the whole process took barely ten seconds.

Oliver had expected her to make a scene or demand answers, so he couldn't help feeling a bit surprised.

Aurora's reputation was for being obedient and sensible.

But even with something like divorce, she was this compliant, not even asking questions?

"I've signed it. I'll move out of this house as quickly as possible."

Aurora capped the pen and pushed the divorce agreement back.

Oliver coughed uncomfortably, staring at her with deep, complicated eyes.

"No need to rush. You can keep living here if you want. The company is at a critical growth stage right now, and I don't want rumors of a marriage breakdown getting out."

Aurora didn't look up at him, responding: "Okay, just call me if you need me for anything."

Oliver seemed to think of something and stubbed out his cigarette. "I'll give you financial compensation. A lawyer will come talk to you about the specific amount tomorrow."

Aurora spoke again: "Okay."

After she finished speaking, Oliver didn't respond, and the atmosphere in the room fell into a strange silence.

Aurora finally looked up at Oliver, only to meet his increasingly complicated gaze.

Oliver looked puzzled.

Aurora was equally confused: "Is there something else?"

In her expectation, seeing her sign the divorce agreement so readily, Oliver should have been happy.

So why did he now look like he'd swallowed a fly?

Was her performance not good enough, not obedient and sensible enough?

"No."

Oliver's voice grew even deeper. He stepped forward to take back the agreement.

"I'll let you know when we can make the divorce public. Even if you and that lover of yours have any new developments, wait until it's completely public before doing anything."

Having said that, Oliver walked out with the agreement.

Aurora sat dazed on the bed, her eyes empty. The composure she'd been maintaining in front of Oliver had now completely shattered.

She never had any so-called lover. She was just looking for the person who saved her life as a child.

But Oliver misunderstood, and after all these years, no matter how many times she explained, Oliver still didn't believe her.

Aurora squeezed her eyes shut. The first lesson in the adult world is learning to say goodbye with dignity.

She barely slept all night.

When she woke up, Oliver wasn't there.

Aurora slowly washed up and began packing all her belongings from the house.

After living here for three years, everything she could take with her fit into one small suitcase. Oliver was generous with money, and over the years of their marriage, he'd given her quite a few luxury bags.

She'd left them all in the display cabinet, never using them once. Aurora didn't plan to take these things, but when her gaze fell on the sparkling wedding ring on her hand, she hesitated.

Finally, she took off the ring, photographed it, and listed it on a secondhand platform.

Aurora continued packing. Just as she finished with her suitcase, an unwelcome visitor suddenly barged into the villa.

The way she looked at Aurora was full of mockery.

"So you do have some dignity and know to pack up and leave. I thought you'd wait for me to kick you out. If you hadn't used tricks to win Grandpa over back then, how could he have possibly broken up my brother and Claire! "

Aurora glanced sideways at Quinn.

She was Oliver's sister, but years ago she'd decided that Claire was her only sister-in-law. Over the years, she'd mocked and made snide remarks at Aurora constantly.

Aurora usually tolerated it, but now, she was done tolerating.

Aurora's eyes were mocking as she looked at Quinn Knight.

"Nobody held a knife to Oliver's throat and forced him to marry me, right? He could have broken the contract, run from the wedding, called off the engagement, or when Claire went abroad back then, he could have traveled thousands of miles to chase his true love."

Aurora paused here, her eyes taking on a deeper meaning.

"As for why he gave up Claire to marry me, you should ask him that question."

Oliver did everything in a clear state of mind.

In short, the marriage was his willing choice.

Quinn was instantly speechless, anger rising on her face.

"You got what you wanted and you still dare to put on this act here. Thank god Claire is back now, and we can finally kick you, this bad luck charm, out of the house! Every day I see your face, I feel cursed."

Aurora's expression instantly turned cold.

"You're wrong. The one who really feels cursed is me. If I'd known earlier that you siblings were both so brainless, I definitely wouldn't have married into this family!"

Quinn looked like she'd heard something utterly ridiculous, her eyes widening instantly.

"You dare to insult me, and my brother too?"

"If you didn't hear clearly, I can repeat it. When you have time, shake your head and listen for the sound of seawater inside."

Aurora gave her a casual glance, picked up her suitcase, and left directly.

Quinn, left behind, was practically exploding with rage. She immediately drove to Knight Group.

As soon as she entered the office, she complained to Oliver, who was handling work. Quinn's face was flushed red with anger as she said through gritted teeth:

"Brother, do you know that woman Aurora seems to have gone crazy? She just insulted both of us and told us to get our brains checked! She's just a bad luck charm, and the Knight family took her in, yet she dares to insult us!"

Oliver's cold, sharp gaze instantly swept over: "Shut up!"
