Chapter 7 The Reporter’s Sharp Questions

"Of course it's no trouble. After all, I'm your husband."

Oliver shamelessly claimed the title of husband, making Aurora's face flush red with anger.

"Mr. Knight, I don't need to remind you where we stand right now, do I?"

Hearing the mockery in her tone, a flash of displeasure crossed Oliver's eyes.

"No matter where we stand, I'm still your legitimate husband right now, and I'm the most qualified family member to sign for you."

Oliver turned to look at Liam. "Dr. Hayes, wouldn't you say so?"

Liam said, "Naturally."

To Oliver, Liam's attitude was a signal of backing down.

His gaze swept up and down Liam's body as he spoke, his tone both questioning and challenging: "Dr. Hayes, I saw you standing so close to my wife just now. I wonder what your relationship is?"

Before Liam could answer, Oliver spoke again, cutting off his response.

"Don't tell me you're just fellow students. I've never seen any fellow students as close as you two."

His words were purely looking for trouble.

Liam frowned slightly and was about to speak when Aurora cut in.

"Oliver, you're going too far. You abandoned me, and if he hadn't saved me, who knows what state I'd be in right now! There's nothing between us—we're completely innocent. Don't judge others by your own dirty mind."

Seeing Aurora so eager to defend Liam, Oliver's eyes darkened.

"Completely innocent?"

He hadn't entered the room earlier, but through the transparent window in the door, he'd seen Liam touching Aurora's head.

If they weren't close, what woman would let another man touch her head?

Completely innocent? What a joke.

Oliver didn't believe it at all, and his words were full of barbs.

"If you're really innocent, would he stay here to watch over you and try to sign the family consent form for you? Aurora, do you really think I'm a fool?"

"You!" Aurora gripped the bedsheet beneath her tightly. "Enough."

Liam interrupted their argument: "Mr. Knight, I think you should be more concerned about Aurora's health right now. She just fainted and had complications with the pregnancy—she needs proper rest. Besides, the hospital isn't a place for arguing. Please respect the other patients. Finally, Aurora and I are just senior and junior students. Please show some respect."

Oliver gave him a cold glance, his tone harsh. "This doesn't concern you anymore, Dr. Hayes. You should go attend to your own business."

Liam could naturally tell that Oliver was trying to get rid of him.

However, to avoid Aurora having more complications and hurting herself, he didn't argue further with Oliver. He just gave Aurora a few words of advice.

"Aurora, if you need anything, just call me."

Aurora nodded and said goodbye to Liam.

Watching Liam's departing figure, her heart was full of guilt.

If it weren't for her, Liam wouldn't have been humiliated by Oliver like this.

Oliver didn't know what Aurora was thinking, because he had already gone to the nurses' station.

After listening to the nurse briefly, Oliver impatiently interrupted, picked up the pen and signed the family consent form without a single word of concern or inquiry.

When he returned to the room, Aurora had already fallen asleep.

Her body was already weak, and with the pregnancy complications in the early stages, she was truly exhausted and didn't want to argue with Oliver anymore.

Looking at her figure sleeping with her back to him, complex emotions surged in Oliver's heart.

Over the next few days, Oliver came to the hospital every day bringing various supplements, but rarely spoke to Aurora.

Aurora was happy to ignore him too.

As for the things Oliver brought, she wouldn't even accept them.

Scarlett also came to the hospital every other day, doing her best to take care of Aurora.

But every time she ran into Oliver, Scarlett didn't give him any pleasant looks, taking turns with cold mockery and sarcasm.

Oliver didn't argue with her either, just silently endured with a dark expression.

A few days later, Aurora's body had mostly recovered.

After Liam's confirmation, she prepared to be discharged.

Oliver knew this and arranged everything in advance, packed up her things, and prepared to take Aurora home.

Aurora wanted to refuse and have Scarlett pick her up, but Scarlett had an emergency and really couldn't get away.

Left with no choice, she could only let him come.

The two had just walked out the hospital's main entrance when a group of reporters swarmed up from behind, holding cameras and microphones as they rushed toward them.

"Ms. Sinclair, we heard you're pregnant. Is the baby Mr. Knight's child?"

"Ms. Sinclair, we heard you've already signed divorce papers with Mr. Knight. Now that you're suddenly pregnant, are you trying to use the baby to win Mr. Knight back?"

"Ms. Sinclair, there are reports that to keep Mr. Knight, you're using your body as leverage, saying that aborting the baby would leave you infertile for life. Is this true?"

Cameras and microphones kept shoving into Aurora's face, and the series of questions the reporters threw out were sharper than the last.

Camera flashes kept going off, so bright that Aurora couldn't even open her eyes.

But her hearing hadn't failed.

Listening to the reporters' questions, Aurora stood frozen in place, her face pale, having no idea what was happening.

How did these reporters know about her pregnancy? And know so many details?

Who leaked it?

Oliver hadn't expected to encounter such a problem right before discharge.

He shielded Aurora behind him while keeping a cold expression, fury rolling in his eyes.

"Let us through, let us through."

The assistant waiting outside also hadn't expected this problem. He quickly worked with the bodyguards to clear a path, finally managing to squeeze out a passage wide enough for one person.

Under their protection, Aurora and Oliver got into the car.

As soon as they got in, Oliver turned to look at Aurora, his face ice-cold.

"Aurora, did you do this? Did you deliberately leak the news to the reporters, trying to use the media's power to force me to keep you and this baby?"

His words were like a sharp knife, stabbing into Aurora's heart again.

Looking at the disgust and distrust in Oliver's eyes, the last bit of hope in her heart shattered.

"It wasn't me." Aurora was in despair. "I don't know who leaked the news to the reporters, but I never told anyone about these things."

Faced with her explanation, Oliver didn't believe a single word.

"Not you?"

He snorted coldly, the fury in his eyes growing stronger.

"If not you, then who else would do this? You want to make all this public, let everyone know you're pregnant with my child, put me in an impossible position? Aurora, your tactics are getting more and more sophisticated."
