Chapter 6 Caught in the Web

My heart stopped.

Chloe and Leah were right outside the storage room door. I could hear their voices clearly — Chloe’s soft, sweet laughter and Leah’s serious, righteous tone. Eli’s hand was still on my waist, his cum still leaking down my thigh. My dress was wrinkled. My hair was messy. I smelled like sex.

We were trapped.

Eli moved fast. He pressed a finger to his lips, then quietly pulled me behind a tall stack of old wooden chairs. We pressed ourselves against the wall, barely breathing.

The door handle turned.

“Strange,” Chloe said, her voice floating into the room. “I could have sworn I heard something.”

Leah’s footsteps came closer. “Maybe it was the wind. Or maybe someone is hiding sin in here.”

Chloe let out a sarcastic laugh so fake the it made my stomach twist.

My knees almost gave out. Eli’s arm tightened around my waist, holding me steady. His body was warm and solid against my back, but all I could think about was how disgusting I must look — freshly fucked on my birthday, in the house of God.

Chloe laughed lightly. “You’re always so dramatic, Leah. But… you’re right to be watchful. The devil is very active these days. Especially around certain girls who just turned eighteen.”

They were talking about me. I knew it.

Leah’s voice dropped. “I saw how Brother Elijah looked at her during service. And the way she ran off afterward… Something isn’t right. We should keep our eyes open.”

Their footsteps moved around the room for what felt like forever. They were checking corners. I held my breath until my lungs burned. Eli’s hand slowly slid down and pressed between my legs, covering my cunt possessively, like he was daring them to find us. The filthy thrill mixed with my terror made me dizzy.

Finally, after what felt like hours, their voices faded down the hallway.

Eli let out a slow breath. “They’re gone.”

I shoved his hand away and turned on him, tears burning in my eyes. “This is insane! They almost caught us. If they saw...”

“They didn’t,” he said calmly, but his eyes were dark with adrenaline. “And even if they suspect something, they have no proof.”

“Yet,” I whispered. “Eli, this has to stop. I feel disgusting. I just lost my virginity in a storage room on my birthday. To you. While my mom is acting like the world is ending. While those two are watching me like hawks.”

He stepped closer, cupping my face. “Abby… I told you I’ve wanted you for months. This thing between us? It’s not going to stop. Not now that I’ve had you.”

His words sent another wave of heat through me even as shame choked me.

We slipped out of the room separately. I waited five minutes before following him. When I finally stepped into the main hall, Mom was waiting near the exit, arms crossed.

“Where have you been?” she asked sharply. “I’ve been looking everywhere.”

“I was… helping clean up the storage room like I said.”

She stared at me for a long second, then sighed. “Let’s go home.”

The car ride was even worse than before. Mom kept glancing at me. Halfway home, she finally spoke.

“Abby… some very important people in the church have been asking about you lately. Now that you’re eighteen, they see you as… ready. I don’t want you alone with anyone. Not even Brother Elijah. Do you understand?”

Her words sent ice down my spine.

"What do you mean by 'ready' mum?" I asked, my was interest piqued as my heart raced faster.

"I don't know how to say this to you dear"

"Mum you're really scaring me. Why are you doing..." I said my voice gradually raising.

"Abigail! Don't raise your voice at your mother!"

"That wasn't intentional mum. I can't help but worry. You've been so different since I turned 18 mum."

"Oh forgive me for caring for and being worried for my daughter." She said sarcastically.

“Why are you telling me this?” I asked, voice shaking.

She didn’t answer. She just gripped the wheel tighter.

That night, I couldn’t sleep.

I kept replaying everything — Eli inside me, Chloe and Leah’s suspicious smiles, Mom’s strange fear, which was weird. My phone buzzed at 1:17 a.m.

It was a text from him. I didn't bother opening it and dketed it.

I deleted it, but the ache between my legs came back stronger.

The next few days became a dangerous game.

Eli and I stole moments wherever we could — quick kisses in the church parking lot, his hand up my skirt during youth Bible study when no one was looking, late-night texts that got filthier each day. Every time I prayed, the guilt ate me alive. Every time I saw Chloe and Leah, they smiled at me like they knew something.

On Wednesday evening, during fellowship, Pastor Matt made a surprise announcement.

“Next month, we will be having a special Purity Ball for our young adults who have turned eighteen this year. It’s a celebration of commitment to God… and a time for proper courtship under the church’s guidance.”

His eyes landed on me for a second too long.

Mom’s hand squeezed mine so hard it hurt.

After service, as people were leaving, Caleb, Eli’s tall, serious best friend walked up to me while I was alone near the water fountain.

“Hey, Abby,” he said quietly. “Can we talk for a second?”

He looked tense. Almost angry.

Before I could answer, Eli appeared beside me like a shadow.

“Caleb,” he said, voice low and warning. “Not now.”

The two men stared at each other. The air crackled with something ugly — something like an old history I didn’t understand. Maybe I was just being paranoid.

Caleb’s jaw tightened. “You really think you can keep hiding this forever?”

My stomach dropped.

Eli stepped in front of me protectively. “Walk away, Caleb.”

Caleb looked at me one last time, something like pity in his eyes, then turned and left.

Eli didn’t explain. He just squeezed my hand and whispered, “Stay away from him. He’s dangerous.”

That night, as I lay in bed, my mind was spinning.

Mom’s warnings.

Chloe and Leah watching me.

Caleb’s strange words.

Eli’s secrets.

And worst of all… I was already counting the hours until I could feel Eli inside me again.

I was completely, hopelessly addicted.

And I had no idea how deep this hole actually went.
