Chapter 4
Michael's face darkened even more: "This is absolutely ridiculous. Who gave you the nerve!"
He snatched the invitation, and just as he was about to tear it up, Blair spoke.
"Do you really dare to tear it?"
That cold remark made Michael pause.
Blair looked up: "Why don't you take a good look and see if this invitation is real or fake."
"I don't have that kind of ability, but Mr. Arthur Hamilton does."
Michael's eyes widened in disbelief as he examined the invitation in his hand. He quickly confirmed it was genuine.
And judging by the material, it was several grades higher than the invitation he had received.
He immediately changed his tune: "Elodie, is that any way to talk to Blair?"
Michael scolded: "Apologize to Blair right now."
Elodie was stunned. Although she looked down on Arthur, she couldn't accept Arthur being interested in Blair either.
Under Michael's fierce glare, she reluctantly lowered her head.
"Blair, I was wrong."
She practically ground out those words through clenched teeth.
"What good is a verbal apology? How about you give me back the room you're living in now instead."
Blair said casually, stabbing a knife right into Elodie's chest.
Living in that room gave Elodie much more security. She didn't want to give it up.
But Michael agreed without hesitation:
"Fine. Elodie, pack up and move out later."
Arthur liked Blair even more than he had imagined. He was already starting to favor Blair in his heart.
Under Elodie's hateful gaze, Blair's smile grew even brighter.
This was just the beginning. Everything Celeste and Elodie had taken, Blair would take back.
After Blair left, Celeste and Elodie went to the study.
Closing the door, Elodie spoke through gritted teeth: "Mom, look how arrogant Blair has become."
"Didn't you say to have Blair seduce Rupert? Why hasn't there been any news yet?"
Celeste frowned. The Hamilton Family's butler had already taken the money, so he should have done something by now.
But there had been no news from that side, and she couldn't contact the butler either, so she could only set the matter aside for now.
"Don't worry about Blair. She won't be arrogant for much longer."
Celeste said calmly: "It's actually good that nothing happened yet. I received news that Rupert's aversion to women seems to have gotten better."
Elodie's eyes lit up as she looked at Celeste expectantly.
Celeste smiled indulgently: "The Churchill Family is Rupert's maternal family. He'll definitely attend the Churchill Family's party."
"As long as you can hook Rupert, what does Blair matter?"
She had managed to outdo Anna, so Elodie could suppress Blair too.
Elodie hesitated: "Rupert must have very high standards, right?"
Celeste said meaningfully: "What if all the guests at the party saw you and Rupert being close?"
"Even for the sake of reputation, Rupert would have to accept it."
"Elodie, love is the most useless thing. Becoming Mrs. Hamilton is your goal."
A flash of ambition crossed Elodie's eyes as she nodded firmly.
"But Mother, I'm still not satisfied. I want to teach Blair a lesson."
Celeste said dismissively: "Even if Arthur is a bit interested in Blair now, he's still basically a playboy."
"Get a reporter to follow Arthur for a few days and photograph him with other women."
"On the day of the Churchill Family party, send it to the media anonymously."
Elodie suddenly understood, murmuring: "That way Blair will become the laughingstock of all Harmony City."
Her eyes flickered with excitement.
The Churchill Family party was set for Sunday. To please Arthur, Michael spent a fortune getting Blair a complete outfit.
Unfortunately, Blair didn't want to be the center of attention and went to a corner to drink.
But someone who couldn't read the room came over on their own.
"Blair, why aren't you going to find Mr. Arthur Hamilton?"
Elodie wore a soft, gentle smile on her face, but her eyes were full of malice.
Following Celeste's advice, she had found a reporter to follow Arthur, and unexpectedly got a big surprise.
Arthur didn't take the arranged marriage seriously at all. These past two days, he'd still been fooling around with different women.
The person she arranged had photographed quite a bit.
She was just waiting to release it tonight and make Blair lose all face.
Blair said leisurely: "How is that any of your business?"
Elodie said fake-sweetly: "Blair, you need to change that temper. Men won't like someone like you."
"Should they like an illegitimate daughter like you instead? Or like a homewrecker like your mother?"
Elodie's face changed drastically. She quickly looked around, and only relaxed when she saw no one had noticed their conversation.
Celeste had found out which room Rupert was in at the Churchill Family estate. Next, she just needed to provoke Blair into making a move.
Then she could use it as an excuse to get her dress dirty and go upstairs to change.
Not only could she get close to Rupert, but she could also ruin Blair's reputation. Two birds with one stone.
Elodie said deliberately: "You don't know yet, do you? Mr. Arthur Hamilton has still been out having fun these past few days."
"He's not giving you any face even before the marriage. You'll really suffer once you marry him."
Elodie stared at Blair intently, wanting to see her look flustered.
But Blair said unhurriedly: "Elodie, you've got something wrong."
"I'm different from you. I've never counted on men."
These two encounters with her fiancé had gone well enough that she'd almost forgotten Arthur was a notorious playboy.
But it didn't matter. Her "Nocturne" organization was her strongest card.
Elodie hadn't expected Blair to be so calm and couldn't help feeling anxious.
Once the party started and Rupert came downstairs, she'd completely lose her chance.
Because this corner was secluded, no one noticed what was happening here.
Elodie suddenly moved, splashing the wine from Blair's glass onto her own chest.
Then she cried out and fell straight backward, landing on the ground in an embarrassing heap.
The commotion drew the guests' attention, and they gathered around.
Elodie looked up, her eyes pitiful and helpless.
She explained frantically: "Blair didn't push me, I was careless..."
Saying this only made it seem more like a cover-up.
Blair raised an eyebrow. So this was why Elodie had come over acting so suspicious—she'd been waiting to pull this stunt.
She picked up another glass of wine, enjoying the show in front of her.
Elodie sobbed: "It's all my fault. I knew Blair has been in a bad mood these past few days, but I still brought up Mr. Arthur Hamilton."
"But Blair, it's nothing for men to play around outside. I was just trying to help you."
"Forget it, I shouldn't have said anything."
Bringing up the Hamilton Family, the guests' expressions varied.
It seemed Ms. Brown was unhappy about the marriage arrangement with the Hamilton Family.
