Chapter 6 A Concierge For 30 Days

Zinnia

Oh my God

I was going to pass out right now. Because what did she mean I’d have to serve as Dylan’s concierge for 30 days?

I mean Dylan? As in Dylan Reed?

The same man who hates my guts and expects me to walk the other way or run whenever I see him? The same one I was meant to avoid?

What kind of disaster was this? No. I couldn’t do it, how would it even work? He’d kill me before I even started. I had to say something.

“Uhhh ma’am I’m a little confused.” I started and she frowned. Sweet Jesus help me. Why did she look like she was fucking trying to murder me?

“Confused about what? Confused about being employed?” She rolled her eyes and I scratched my nape.

Oh, how was I going to say this to this big-headed mean lady?

“Ma I mean I didn’t apply to be a concierge, so I’m surprised you’re offering me a role as one. I originally applied to supply WilderSphere Events with ushers and hostesses.”

“I have a business I own. It's called Zinnia HostPro Services. I really need funding that’s why I applied to get the contract to supply WilderSphere with ushers Ma, not to be a concierge.”

She frowned as I finished explaining as though I had just made a terrible statement I wasn’t supposed to make.

“And so? Did I tell you I didn’t read your contract proposal? What is it with you, these poor folks, and having a leaking mouth?” She questioned angrily.

I bowed my head slightly trying to hide my face. I was beyond pissed and the only reason why my fist was not connecting with her jaw was because I was trying to control my temper.

If for anything, let me keep it in check because I needed the money so I could pay off my father’s loan.

“You were late to your interview where you were expected. The only reason you have a second chance now is because my husband insists on hiring you.”

“He claims that you’re the only person who can help but Dylan Reed in check which to me is nonsense but I’m just going by what he says.”

“So you have the job.” She said.

Hold on, was this a woman not listening to me? I didn’t apply to be a concierge. I don’t care what transpired or what kind of conversation her husband and she had.

I wasn’t going to be a concierge to Dylan. That was basically throwing myself to the wolves and even if I do survive and he doesn’t kill me, he’d just turn me into a slave I know it.

He and his team…

Especially that manager of his. They’d love to start sending me on errands all in the name of me being his personal “concierge.”

No.

“But ma…” I tried to speak up and she raised a hand to silence me.

“I understand you applied to supply us ushers and hostesses. As I said, I read your contract proposal. The position as concierge is temporary and just for 30 days, and if you do well…” She let the words hang and stared deeply into my eyes.

“The contract with WilderSphere Events is automatically yours.” She said and I smiled.

I really didn’t want to be anywhere near that man but if this was the only way, then I guess I was going to take it even if I still think it is ridiculous.

Ailany and I needed the money.

It will help offset our late father’s loans and also save our house to preserve his memories.

“So do you want this job or do you not want this job, I have things to do,” Juliet asked impatiently.

“I want the job ma. Thank you.” I replied immediately.

She looked me up and down then gave a faint smile.

“Good, my assistant will give you your employment letter and bring you up to speed. And also Zinnia or whatever your name is, put some effort into your outfits.”

“If you’re going to be working with us, you need to dress better. Take a look at the girls at work today and copy a thing or two from their fashion style.” She said and I forced a smile.

“Thank you,” I replied before turning to leave.

I could already tell that working with someone like Juliet Wilder was going to be a lot. She had a terrible personality and I was sure she was going to give me problems but I was going to bear it.

Then there was Dylan.

I knew getting him to come to terms with the fact that I was his personal concierge for 30 days wasn’t going to be easy.

Like I understood, he had a contract with WilderSphere to perform at one of their event houses or something. I didn’t really know what was going on there but I knew the contract with them was meant to last for a month.

So that means throughout the time he’d be working with us, I’d be working with him as his concierge.

Great.

Well, I could do it though. No one was worth me losing such money.

“How was it? You don’t look so happy, what happened?” Ailany rushed towards me as I walked towards her in the lobby.

“I kind of got the contract,” I explained and she cocked her brows.

“Kind of?” She stressed and I nodded.

“She offered me employment as Mr Dylan Reed’s personal concierge for 30 days and after that, I was going to get the contract automatically,” I explained and her mouth flew open.

“Uhh… I mean great deal but Dylan? How are you going to cope?” She asked.

“I have to somehow, if I get the contract, I could earn up to $2 million per year in profits and it is a good deal. I’m not about to lose that over anyone.”

“Not even Dylan Reed,” I replied and started walking away.
