Chapter 3

The noise in the middle of the night disturbed my dreams, and it was far from pleasant.

Secretary Quinn had been with Ethan for a long time and had an exceptional position. He knew that Ethan didn’t care about me.

So, when he heard the reason for my call, his tone was cold and overbearing.

“Mrs. Anderson, you’ll have to apply first. Only with Mr. Anderson’s signature can you receive the check.”

“Just like the jewelry you wear; it needs to be registered before you can use it.”

“Do you understand what I mean, Mrs. Anderson?”

I hung up the phone, lowering my head, quiet and still.

After a while, I looked up at my reflection in the glass. I slowly raised my hand to touch my ring finger, where my wedding ring still sat.

It was the only thing on me that didn’t need approval from Ethan or his secretary.

How pitiful it was to be Mrs. Anderson.

I blinked absentmindedly and suddenly spoke.

“Find someone to sell my wedding ring.”

My stepmother froze.

“Jonna, are you out of your mind?”

I slowly turned around, my footsteps echoing in the lonely hallway.

After a few steps, I stopped and then said firmly.

“Aunt, I’m very clear-headed. I’ve never been clearer. I want a divorce from Ethan.”
