Chapter 4 Abandon Her and Find a Mistress

"Is it serious?" Theodore asked.

"Yeah, it hurts a lot."

Sienna watched Theodore's features soften the moment he answered the phone, and the last bit of warmth in her heart turned cold.

She leaned lazily against the private room doorframe, her expression somewhere between a smile and a sneer. "Mr. Baker, your little lover is calling for you. Aren't you going to rush over?"

Theodore's expression darkened. "Sienna, you..."

Before he could finish, Chloe's scream came through the phone: "Ah! Theo!"

The woman's voice sounded so weak it seemed ready to break at any moment. Then the call disconnected.

Theodore's face changed instantly.

When he called back, it showed the phone was off.

Theodore put away his phone and looked at Sienna with a piercing gaze, as if trying to see right through her. "Sienna, I'm warning you—you better go home and stay there until I get back."

Sienna tilted her head, smiling carelessly. "What if I don't?"

Theodore didn't answer. Instead, he turned around, his eyes sweeping over the male models in the room who hadn't left yet.

"You guys." His voice was low and cold, each word deliberate. "If you dare get close to her again, New York will become your graveyard."

One of the men laughed. "Bro, we never refuse a request from a lady."

"Then you can tell your family to come collect your body."

The man stiffened under his gaze and took half a step back.

Mission accomplished, Theodore glanced at Sienna. "Sienna, you know what happens when you make me angry!"

With that, he left.

As his figure disappeared, the smile on Sienna's face faded bit by bit, leaving only empty numbness.

"You're just letting him go like that?" Sophie poked her head out from the private room, her face full of disbelief. "He's leaving you here to go find that woman?"

Sienna said nothing. She turned back to the booth and picked up the champagne on the table, draining it in one gulp.

"Sienna..." Sophie looked at her with concern.

"I'm fine." Sienna put down the glass, her voice soft.

Sophie watched her trying to hold it together and sighed, sitting down beside her and putting an arm around her shoulders. "Alright, then let's keep celebrating. Come on, let's call that cute guy back and have him keep you company for a few drinks!"

Sienna shook her head, suddenly feeling tired.

Not physically tired, but the kind of exhaustion that seeps out from your bones.

"Soph, I'm heading home." She picked up her bag and stood up.

"I'll take you."

"No need." Sienna smiled at her, the smile carrying a hint of self-mockery. "I'm not that pampered young lady who needs protection anymore."

She walked out of Muse in her heels. The night wind carried New York's chill, hitting her face and making her shiver.

Sienna stood by the roadside waiting for a car, suddenly remembering three years ago when she had stood in the wind like this, waiting for Theodore to pick her up.

Back then, she had just married him, filled with joy, thinking she was the happiest person in the world.

He would drape his coat over her shoulders, hold her hand as they walked through every street in New York.

But now, thinking back, it felt like a past life.

A taxi arrived. Sienna opened the door and got in, gave the address, then leaned back in the seat and closed her eyes.

Tears silently slid down her face. She raised her hand to wipe them away, but more came. She wiped again.

The driver glanced at her in the rearview mirror and quietly turned up the music.

Meanwhile.

Theodore arrived at Chloe's apartment at eleven-thirty at night.

He rang the doorbell. The door opened quickly.

Chloe wore a white silk slip nightgown, her curves barely concealed, her long hair falling over her shoulders. Her face was indeed a bit pale, but she didn't look as bad as she'd sounded on the phone.

"Theo, you came." Her voice was soft, like it could be scattered by a breeze. "I was so scared just now, and then my phone died."

As she spoke, she reached out to grab Theodore's arm.

Theodore shifted slightly, avoiding her hand.

Chloe froze for a moment, a barely noticeable flicker in her eyes, but quickly resumed her fragile demeanor. "What's wrong? Did... Sienna make trouble with you again?"

"No." Theodore walked into the living room and sat on the sofa, raising his hand to rub his temples. "Does your stomach still hurt? Should we go to the hospital?"

"It's much better now. Maybe I ate something bad for dinner." Chloe sat down beside him, carefully watching his expression. "Are you... very tired? Should I get you some water?"

Get you some water.

The words pierced Theodore's mind like a needle.

He was momentarily dazed, Sienna's image inexplicably surfacing in his mind.

She used to be like that too, wearing loungewear, holding water at just the right temperature, standing quietly before him.

"I'm not thirsty." Theodore came back to himself and said flatly.

Chloe keenly sensed his distraction but didn't press, just nodded obediently. "Theo, can you stay with me tonight? I'm scared being alone..."

Normally, Theodore wouldn't refuse.

But today, his mind was full of what he'd seen at Muse.

Sienna in that black slip dress, her collarbones glowing softly under the lights.

She'd held her glass with her head tilted, her eyes lazy and alluring.

He never knew she had that side to her.

Never knew that seeing her touched by other men would stir up such rage and an indescribable sourness in his heart.

"Not tonight." Theodore stood up.

Chloe looked up, her eyes full of confusion. "Why?"

"I have things to do." He picked up his coat from the sofa. "Get some rest. If you still feel bad, call a doctor."

"Theo..." Chloe stood up, her voice hurt. "Are you having regrets?"

Theodore paused.

"Are you... still not over her?"

Silence spread between them.

Theodore didn't answer. He just said "Get some sleep" and strode out of the apartment.

The moment the door closed, the fragility vanished from Chloe's face.

She clenched her fists, her nails nearly digging into her palms.

Sienna...
