Chapter 4 Looking for Death?

Grant threw the document onto the floor.

He had always known Yasmin was no good, but no one else in the family believed him.

Now, he didn't need to expose her true colors himself.

"What are you standing there for? Don't you want to leave? Get lost!"

Yasmin let out an angry laugh.

She and Grant had never gotten along, and now there was no need to pretend.

She bent down to pick up the document and shot Grant a long look.

"Grant, you're going to regret what you did to me today."

With that, she turned to leave.

But as she turned, she saw Amelia standing to the side, watching her.

When Yasmin saw Amelia's face, her brows furrowed. She was strikingly beautiful.

Even in those tacky country clothes, her beauty was impossible to hide.

Her beauty was almost aggressive, making others instinctively uneasy.

Those eyes looked so much like Natalie's.

Yasmin almost immediately guessed Amelia's identity.

She walked up to Amelia and looked her up and down.

"So you're that lost Amelia?"

Amelia smirked as she shot back, "And you're that ungrateful bitch?"

"You!"

In anger, Yasmin raised her hand to slap Amelia.

But before her hand could swing over, Amelia caught it firmly in mid-air. She froze, a sharp pain shooting through her wrist.

She sucked in a breath from the pain and shouted, "Bitch! Let go!"

"You're always calling me a bitch. That's just rude. Get lost yourself before I lose my temper."

Amelia yanked her hand back in disgust and wiped it on her pants, as if trying to rid herself of Yasmin's touch.

Yasmin let out another angry laugh.

"Fine, you really are a family. Don't think you came back from the countryside to enjoy the good life—the Richardson family is finished!"

"Whether we're finished or not, I don't know. But if you don't leave before I count to three, you will be."

Yasmin was about to lunge at Amelia again when Grant blocked her.

"Someone! Drag her out!"

"No need to drag me—I can walk out myself! I didn't want to stay in this house anyway! Just you wait—I’ll get revenge for today!"

She had come back alone today to avoid humiliation and an unfavorable scene.

Once she joined the Sullivan family, she'd have plenty of ways to take revenge.

Grant was about to curse when, out of the corner of his eye, he saw Natalie's body sway and fall to the side.

"Mom!"

He rushed to catch her but felt a gust of wind as a dark shadow flashed past him.

When he looked again, Amelia had already caught Natalie.

"Amelia, let's get her back to her room."

"Okay."

They quickly helped Natalie back to her room and laid her down.

Amelia took Natalie's hand and concentrated on examining her.

Her heartbeat was very irregular—she had fainted from the shock.

Her body was also terribly weak. It was likely due to an old condition that required careful treatment; otherwise, her body wouldn’t be able to handle the strain.

Grant had just told the butler to call 911 when he turned and saw Amelia examining Natalie.

He was stunned for a moment, then walked over and asked, "Amelia, you know medicine?"

Amelia casually made up an excuse. "I learned a bit from the village doctor years ago. Do you have acupuncture needles at home? She needs treatment now."

Hearing that she had learned medicine from a country doctor, the butler, Holden, worried she might cause harm and reminded them, "I've called for an ambulance. It should be here in about twenty minutes."

Amelia said expressionlessly, "In her condition, if she goes to the hospital, the doctor will give her oxygen, run multiple tests, and then prescribe some routine medication before sending her home."

Grant made a quick decision. "Go to the therapy room and see if the therapist left any acupuncture needles."

The therapy room at home had been set up because Quinton suffered from chronic spinal problems.

Holden had no choice but to look for the supplies, even though he disagreed.

Fortunately, although the therapist had been dismissed, the equipment was still there.

He quickly brought over a needle case, which Amelia opened, spreading out the set of silver needles inside.

After sterilizing them, she inserted the needles into several points on Natalie's body.

However, after the needles were in place, Natalie still showed no response; her eyes remained closed.

Seeing this, Holden quietly pulled Grant aside.

Among the brothers, Grant was the youngest and the least reliable.

The others had gone to handle Quinton's situation, leaving him as the only one at home. He couldn't let Grant make a mistake.

"Grant."

Holden glanced in Amelia's direction and whispered to Grant, "Is the one you brought back really Ms. Richardson?"

"Of course! Look at her eyes—they look exactly like my Mom’s when she was young! And the thing around her neck is the double fish pendant Mom gave her before she went missing."

Holden nodded and got to the point. "Before you left, we found out Ms. Richardson was adopted by a farming family in the countryside. To put it bluntly, what do country people know about treating illness? The ambulance will be here soon. Tell her to stop messing around—it's more reliable to send Mrs. Richardson to the hospital."

"You mean you think Amelia would hurt Mom?"

Holden quickly shook his head. "Of course not, I'm just worried about the what-ifs. You saw it too—after those needles went in, Mrs. Richardson had no reaction at all."

Grant was more direct and walked straight over to Amelia.

"Amelia, how long until Mom wakes up?"

"Ten minutes." As she spoke, Amelia adjusted one of the needles with measured pressure.

Her chest tightness and breathing difficulty needed to be relieved gradually.

Grant nodded and turned to Holden. "Let's wait ten minutes! If she's not awake after ten minutes, we'll send her to the hospital. Don't worry yet—there are skilled doctors in the countryside too."

Hearing this, Amelia also looked over at Holden.

"Don't worry too much. She'll wake up."

Holden smiled awkwardly. "Got it."

Grant was really blunt.

How could he just say it out loud like that?

No wonder everyone said that among the Richardson family's six sons—aside from the martial-arts-trained fifth son, Felix—Grant was the most straightforward.

Just as Holden was growing anxious, the sound of an ambulance siren came from downstairs.

He immediately said, "The ambulance is here! Grant, let's get Mrs. Richardson into it first!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the door was kicked open.

Everyone instinctively looked toward the door.

A man with thick eyebrows, large eyes, and a scar on his right brow bone strode in.

"Grant, I heard Mom..."

Before he could finish, Felix caught sight of Amelia inserting a thick silver needle into the top of Natalie's head.

His eyes blazed with fury.

"Who are you?! How dare you hurt my mom! You’re courting death!"

He thrust his palm toward Amelia in attack.
