Chapter 4 14

Selene

I did it. I got in. I finally did it. It had been a fucking long day. Receiving a series of slaps and getting treated as a slave. By the end of the day, it was all worth it. Dain chose the five girls that he wanted and I still had no idea what he had in mind to do with them. It was a surprise that he ended up choosing six girls instead of five. I did not know what made him change his mind, but I was glad he did.

We were all escorted to respective rooms where I slumped on the bed. I ran my hands through the cut on my lower lip and it healed it with magic. I got bitten by a werewolf and came out alive, my magic had gotten stronger and I was turning into a werewolf. Something was happening to me. Something that I had no answers to.

There was no one to ask, so I decided to cope with it and focused on the task at hand instead. Finding my sister and killing Dain. I did not just come into his palace for a measley revenge, I came into his life to kill him. And then, I'd find my twin.

I was about to close my eyes to sleep when a knock came on my door. I was quick to get out of bed as I rushed to the door. I opened the door, to reveal a woman. She was middle aged, tall and dressed in a maids uniform.

“Please come with me.” She said, her voice polite. I found myself scoffing because the lycans did not have it in their blood to be polite. Or was she a werewolf? I took a second glance but there was no way that I could tell.

The lycans and werewolves lived together in the lycan kingdom, but the werewolves were like the lowest food chain there. They treated them with no respect, because the lycans were stronger and bigger.

“Where are we going?” My voice was soft and low. I had always been the soft type and barely raised my voice and I was glad because it made it more convincing for me to look like a weak human.

“You don't just ask questions around here, little girl. Learn to keep your mouth shut.” That was all she said and I quietly strode behind her. We stopped in front of a huge door and she opened the door, leading me in.

I was met with four other girls and they all seemed to be waiting for me. I exhaled and was about to rush to stay by their side when a chill voice spoke. “She is late.” It was Dain and I didn't even know that he was in the room. I jolted out of shock and my eyes traveled towards the direction where he stood.

“Your highness, I'm sorry.” The woman was quick to fall on her knees and my eyes narrowed. She looked visibly shaken and she was sweating so much.

Dain took a step towards us, his eyes hooded with darkness and with each step that he took, the woman cried and flinched. “You know how much I despise lateness, but still you went ahead to come here late. I was waiting.”

He hissed in distaste, like waiting was actually a bad thing. And I was sure that he only waited for just a few minutes.

“I’m sorry, your highness. Please forgive me.” The woman pleaded like her life depended on it. As she knelt on the ground crying, I glanced at Dain who was still walking towards her.

“It's not her fault.” I suddenly blurted out and all eyes landed on me. Fuck. But I refused to back down. “It's not her fault. She knocked at my room early.” I defended and the woman just stared at me like I was the biggest fool that she had ever met.

Dain’s eyes narrowed and he began to take slow steps towards me. “Are you saying it's your fault?” His lips curled up as he stated at me, but I quickly waved my hands in the air.

“It's nobody’s fault. This will not repeat itself again. We are sorry.” It seemed like I was forgetting how brutal Dain actually was. He captured 20 girls. Killed 14 of them and kept 6.

“We will make this quick. Explain to them what they are here to do.” He was quick to look away and then gestured at the woman that was on her knees. She was quick to stand on my feet and I just wondered what made Dain let it slide that easily.

“You were only chosen for a purpose. One that you must fulfill. It's the year of the 6 again and you know what happens once it’s the year of the 6.” She paused and my eyes widened and my heart began to race.

Fuck no. I miscalculated because I would have allowed the selection for the breeding ceremony to take place before I came to the palace. Hell. The Lycans only bred with humans and the children were always powerful. The hybrid.

“The Alpha will make his selection and his breeder will be chosen among the six of you.” I almost stopped breathing at her words. There was no way.

“So once he chooses who he wants, the rest of you will be sent out of the palace.” Or get killed even. He had killed the first 14. Nothing would stop him from killing the next five and I was going to be among that.

There was no way Alpha Dain would choose me to be his breeder. I did not come to be his breeder. I wanted to kill him.

“Good luck.” She muttered, finally taking a step back and I kept breathing hard and fast. My head was held down as I kept thinking of ways that I could use to save myself.

“You. I chose her.” I did not have to look up to know that Dain was pointing at me. I could feel the stares. Well, fuck it. Everything was fucked. Not only was he going to try and get close to me, I was not human. I was only disguising as one.
