Chapter 6 Collar
Selene
I remained standing in a spot for what felt like hours. I did not know where to go, and Dain had told me that a woman named Ravenna was going to come get me; she was the one I had been waiting for.
I was standing and anyone who walked past me kept giving me that strange look. I hoped that my cover was not blown yet. It was so hard to cloak myself to be a weak human. Hiding my witch side and werewolf side which I still have not gotten answers to on why and how they came about. A witch had never survived a werewolf bite. It was lethal to witches. But I was turning into one.
Finally, a red-haired woman began to walk towards me. Her red hair cascaded down her shoulders and she held a firm look on her face. She should be about 39 and I knew that she was Ravenna. The one that I had been standing and waiting for. Being early was not going to kill her, would it?
“Are you the newly recruited slave?” She asked me and then she began to look at me from head to toe, assessing me with her eyes. When she stared at my face again, a look of disgust appeared in hers.
“Yes,” I replied.
“Your name?”
“Selene.” I actually regret using Selene. I should have used a completely different name. But I was so scared when I was with Daim and the name just came out of my tongue.
“Selene.” She repeated and then looked at me again. I knew the reason why she did that. Selene was a common name among witches, not humans. And I hoped that she really would not think too much about that fact.
“How old are you? Follow me.” I began to follow behind her. The palace was a very huge place. Huge and beautiful. It was nothing compared to the cottage where I loved. A cottage that was made with mud walls. That was almost how all the houses in my village were. A small village of witches. We were not essentially poor, we were very much comfortable and that was just our way of living. The Lycans had all the wealth as they were the most superior.
Looking at Ravema, I knew that she was a werewolf. Werewolves had this low aura compared to the Lycans. And a Lycan would never be a slave.
“I'm 22.” I had lived 22 full red moons. That was how our age was recorded. A red moon only appeared once a year and that was when our age cycle was being calculated. A normal moon could appear at any time.
“You look small. You would pass for a 16-year-old.” I held back a scowl. They had to stop emphasizing how small I was. I was not that small and one look at my face could tell that I was an adult. I fucking looked like one. I hated my black hair so much. I preferred my silver white hair and they would have easily known that I was not a fucking child.
“Humans barely survive here. You are the only survivor from the girls who were brought.” Dain killed the others. “And I have no idea why Alpha Dain has decided to make you a slave when he can just kill you.” She looked at me with distaste. Werewolves and Lycans hated humans. They were regarded as nothing. As filth.
“There are only five human slaves here. You will make the fifth one and I'm going to tell you this for free, it's not going to be easy. It would have been better if the Alpha kept fucking you like an animal in his chambers.” The thought of that made my blood boil.
“I don't even know why he changed his mind. You are the only breeder left.” Ravenna looked at me with a confused look on her face. She was trying to place dots together.
“Whatever. A human slave will come and show you around the place. I will tell you what your duty is. You are Slave 5.” She stopped in front of a room and then walked in.
“Slave 5?”
“Yes. That is what you will be called. You are a slave with no identity. Were you expecting to be called Selene?” She laughed mockingly. The room was very dusty and had lots of cupboards. She opened one and brought out a black collar.
“Why?” I couldn't help but ask as we walked out of the room.
“There are five human slaves here. You are slave 5. Slave 3 will come to you soon. And here.” She gave the collar to me. “Wear it. All human slaves are required to wear one.” I was shocked to my bones and Ravenna just pushed the collar into my hand.
“Don't take it off.” She warned. “Wear it at all times. You will get killed if you are seen without it.” Fuck me. What really did I get myself into?
“Your duty is simple. You will be in the kitchen. Running errands. Human slaves are not worthy of cooking the Royal meals. You will run errands for the cook, serve the Lycan king, clean his room, take care of his laundry, and when you are not working there. You will scrub the toilets.” I stared at Ravenna in shock.
“Your duty starts now. So wear your collar. You are officially a slave. Put it on.” She nudged me and I reluctantly wore the collar.
“Good. It suits you.” She smiled wickedly. I knew that it didn't.
“Remain here and Slave 3 will come for you. She will show you around and tell you everything that you need to know. Including the Do’s and don't’s. After that, go take a shower. You stink.” She huffed and then she walked away, proudly. I really had a bad smell. I had not showered for days and I had also been wandering in the market.
