Occassion
"Your Highness. Should I let your hair fall to your back, or should I pack it in a bun like usual?" My maid, Solace, asked me.
I took a deep breath and stared at my beautiful face, my heart fluttering.
Since the past 7 years, I'll finally be out of the pack in my real gender without putting on a mask. The anticipation made me eager and anxious at the same time. "Let it fall to my back," I told Solace softly, and she smiled at me.
The officials and I settled on sending a letter to inform the holders of the meeting that Alpha Caddel is down with an illness but his treasured daughter Elsher will be attending on his behalf.
I was worried that my facade would be revealed if I attended the party with Alpha Caddel's facade.
I don't know who knew my father closely or the ones he made as enemies
The worst thing happening is me interacting with my father's enemies cheerfully in his image; that'll arouse suspicion.
To prevent that I decided on being Elsher in order not to blow the cover.
Solace did my makeup, styled my hair, and other necessary things before I was able to stand up.
There was an expensive black midnight body con hung in my closet in preparation for the night.
With an unexplainable glee that was resonating in me, I caressed the gown. Its velvet texture felt luxurious beneath my fingertips, a perfect fit for tonight's outing.
"Your Highness, can I?" Solace's excited voice suddenly sounded behind me, jolting me awake.
"Hm. Be quick with it." I retracted my hand and retorted coldly to hide the excitement in my voice.
Solace nodded and carefully helped me put on my gown.
By the time I stared into the mirror, I was knocked off and almost fell in love with myself. The gown accentuated every curve I had. I exude an air of sophistication, and I couldn't help but feel a surge of confidence.
My lips subconsciously curved in joy and my eyes were plastered on the gorgeous goddess in the mirror. It's been a while
"Your Highness is so beautiful," Solace muttered in a voice filled with envy.
A smile unconsciously lit up my face. I straightened my back and cast her a smile. "Thank you, Solace," I replied, picked up my purse, and left my room.
Gray and Ford, my personal guards were waiting outside my room already and upon seeing me they bowed to me respectfully, their face reddened and their eyes shining which I ignored.
"Hope Beta Eric is around? I don't want to be late." I remarked because Beta Eric is quite clingy with his mate and if it wasn't necessary, he always finds it hard to leave his apartment.
Pain gripped my heart upon thinking about the mate issues. Maybe. Maybe, I was bound to stay single forever. I thought sadly.
I cleared my throat and rapidly blinked away the tears that filled my eyes in a bid to regain myself
"Your Highness, I'm here." Beta Eric uttered. Bella, his mate, was right next to him holding his hand.
"Oh Elsher, is that you?" Bella called and hugged me tightly with excitement
"Oh my, you've grown to be like Hazel, your mom." She remarked and hugged me again while I gave her a feigned awkward smile.
I've always seen Bella in Alpha Connor's facade but because Bella never knew about the secret, she also thought Elsher was studying abroad.
"Mrs. Bella, you also look more beautiful than I remember." I praised her sincerely, which made her laugh.
"I also heard Alpha Caddel is sick. Poor him, being an alpha isn't easy," Bella said in concern.
"Princess Elsher, may we leave? It's almost time. We don't want to arrive there late, do we." Beta Eric purposely announced to interrupt our discussion.
I secretly sighed in relief. Bella was smart, and it made us afraid that we may let in some secrets to her causing her to be suspicious
"Unfortunately, I can't chat with you, we are late," I told her, and she nodded to me with a fond motherly look.
Bella and my mom, Hazel, were best friends before they died, so I could understand that gaze.
I left the mansion with Beta Eric and my guards, and we entered the arranged car for the night
"Your Highness, you know what to do, right?" Beta Eric asked me with a hint of worry and I nodded at him seriously.
I began to recite seriously; "Stick to myself, have five-star meals, and..."
"Your Highness!" Beta Eric cried out and stared at me with incredulity.
"What?" I called back and blinked my eyes innocently
Beta Eric gnashed his teeth together and massaged his forehead in exasperation. "Your Highness should please do exactly the opposite. Your Highness should please uplift the pack image and try to partner with important people, especially Alpha Verlice Mintz." He explained seriously.
I sighed dejectedly as I nodded my head, understanding that the meeting was situated to be a no-fun for me. "About the meal, I can have that to my satisfaction, right?" I stared at him eagerly
Beta Eric sighed. "It depends on Your Highness's choice." He remarked to me but he slowly mumbled to himself. 'I hope that I don't regret this.'
"How dare you challenge my order, Beta Eric!" I purposely uttered in Alpha Caddel's deep voice which almost made him jump in shock.
"Kidding," I smirked at his reaction and picked up my phone, laughing.
"Your Highness shouldn't kid with that." Beta Eric remarked unamused while patting his chest and turning to stare at the window.
"Verlice Mintz," I whispered while staring at Verlice's image that was derived by typing his name on the search engine.
Verlice Mintz was handsome with deep black eyes, a long and pointed nose, seductive red lips, and sharp jaws. He looked cold, and sexy at the same time.
Even though I wasn't the type to be moved by a man's face, somehow his peerless face had an effect on me and I felt myself blushing. I quickly turned off my phone with my face burning red.
I read that Verlice Mintz was a cold person who doesn't give a fuck about ladies, and it made me worry that he'd reject my partnership if I brought my offer to the table.
"Beta Eric, have you met with Verlice Mintz before?" I quietly asked.
"Yes. He's a powerful person who singlehandedly raised his poor pack to its current position. It's just that he's cold and unapproachable." Beta Eric informed me, his voice tinged with concern.
I frowned because Beta Eric's words were adding more to my worries. "Beta Eric, do you think he'll want to partner with us?" I quietly asked
Beta Eric turned to stare at me. "Even if he doesn't, there are many packs that are willing to partner with us, your highness shouldn't worry about this. We only need a pack that supplies quality ammunition for partnership." Beta Eric added with a reassuring nod.
"Let's hope Verlice Mintz or a better pack sees the value in our offer," I added and tried to get my mind off the topic.
It's been a while that I interacted with people other than my pack members. It's more like seven years that I did, and I hope that I won't flop today.
'Dad, please watch over me.' I sighed and then turned to stare at the scenery.
