Chapter 59
Sabrina's POV
I could never be happy for long, no matter what. The worst had happened.
All I understood was that all the packs were at war, and the issue with ocean dawn and scarlet pack which went beyond normal issues because both Alpha's chased me and I was a supposed pawn.
So somehow, I also had something to do with it, but what just happened was more than I expected.
A generation curse. It had been going on for decades. Actually, sixty two years ago.
The moon goddess appeared at the ancestral ground where the werewolves were all waiting, after they had done something terrible.
Rogues from my pack years ago, I'm assuming the kinds that almost kidnapped me when I ran from home, kidnapped women from all ages, even kids and kept them as slaves and concubines for themselves.
When the other packs found out, they went on a full hunt to attack my pack and they tried to free the hostages, but it ended up in bloodshed, and some of the women died due to their carelessness.
They suffered the wrath of the moon goddess and the worst part, we are still suffering it. All this time, Kyle thought it was all the scarlet pack, as they attacked themselves probably because of me, but no, it was something greater than all of us, something we were all born into.
They were all led to the ancestral ground that night and the moon goddess laid curses on all the packs involved in the messy fight because they would've come to her for a solution, but they didn't. She was pissed and felt stupid and useless, so she had to descend on them.
The curse was that they'll suffer a series of generational curses and misfortune and no one will ever get leverage over the other till all eternity. We were only just finding this out from the moon goddess again.
Like a thief in the night, she appeared at the central ancestral ground and delivered her message and expected that the people that witnessed and saw her would spread the news to others, and that's how it reached our ears too.
I shook upon hearing it. As always, Kyle comforted me and pretended to be tough, like it was nothing, but I knew he was bothered or probably even scared too. Wasn't there some sort of solution?
Kyle tried to convince me that it was nothing to worry about, but I couldn't shake off this feeling that something was definitely amiss, and it had everything to do with me. Still, I let it go and believed him, something I shouldn't have for the first time ever.
Things were fine and going smoothly. Lunch dates with the kids, tons and tons of vacations where I just knew it was Kyle's way of having me all to himself and fucking me ruthlessly in every corner of every hotel room.
We were mad, going crazy. Kyle simply couldn't stop for shit. We also paid visits to pools and had an amazing time.
Pools where my husband simply refused to let me get in the pool without my kimono, he didn't want me in just my bikini. He was clearly being the jealous one now, and I loved it.
When we finally got home, I rushed for my doctor's appointments, hoping my poor baby still hung up there, especially after all the forbidden sex I've been having with its father.
The doctor declared me good to go, and I was still given a go ahead to keep sleeping with my husband, as if she already knew what I had been up to. Whatever, best doctor ever!
Things were good, until they weren't.
Kyle was at home, and we were watching a soap opera. The kids had just arrived from school and Theresa took them in to take care of them when bad news struck.
The moon goddess delivered the rest of her punishment at the ancestral grounds but this time, it was loud enough for all the packs to hear. I had never met her, but I doubted she was a good person at this rate.
She said the curse will only be broken when a forbidden bond between two rival packs is formed. All the packs hated themselves, they even refused to be lovers or be in any sort of a relationship. This bond in question was procreation. Kids born out of two rival packs.
Procreation will end the curse, but only after the sacrifice of the kids of that union. Recently, things have been getting worse. People have been falling sick and some farms were going down. All this time, I've been busy fucking my husband instead of doing something about that or even knowing it was all going down.
The moon goddess said the kids in question have been born, and they were also of age. It didn't take long for me to put two and two together to realize that they were talking about my kids. As far as I knew, we were the only ones that got married from different packs against all odds.
Kids, which meant more than one. As everything started coming together, I began to hyperventilate and panic. It felt as if my chest couldn't contain my heart anymore.
Kyle was patting my back, seemingly putting two and two together as well, realizing. Still he was still sure the moon goddess wasn't talking about us. Deep inside, I knew he didn't believe his words himself, and that's when I began to shed tears.
My kids? My own kids? A sacrifice to uplift the curse? No, it will never happen! I must protect them, even if it's the last thing I do.
Just then, a guard rushed in, panic spread across his face. I already felt it before he said it, but I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, but it was all a big waste of time.
“Alpha! A riot is fast approaching! They are here for the twins!”
My heart practically dropped.
“How do you know that? Who said what they were here for?” My voice unexpectedly shook, and I breathed hard.
They found out. How did they find out? I kept repeating and chanting to myself.
“They said it themselves, Luna. It's what I heard them say.”
“Close the gates! Don't let them in no matter what. Strengthen security and employ weapons if need be. If my people can betray me like this, I'm not afraid to use my powers. They are my kids too! Little kids! How could they even have the heart to do that to my kids?”
The guards walked away as Kyle poured out his heart in anger. He wasn't smiling, his claws were making an appearance and his fangs were slowly beginning to shoot out.
I had to stand up and rush to his side and lay my head on his chest, so he would calm down. When he did, he patted my back again and kissed my hair.
They'll be fine, I promise. Nothing will happen to them.
The guard came back in to let me know that everything was in order. I let Kyle and ran to the kids room to see what they were doing. They had just finished eating and I took my time to hang out with them whilst fighting back tears. Oh my poor babies.
