Chapter 2 WHO ARE YOU?!
Luisa remembered clearly how her skin had once blistered just from accidentally touching a silver shard. Therefore, it felt impossible that she had not been injured at all when gripping that bullet earlier. A wild thought crossed her mind. Was it possible that she had become fully human, to the point that touching silver no longer hurt her? Had the wolf side within her, which had always been considered defective, truly vanished completely?
Luisa kept questioning herself. However, if she was just an ordinary human, then what was that tremendous shock she had just felt? The violent tremor that seemed to pull her soul out and slam her body against the wall did not feel like anything human.
Luisa observed the man. His pained groans began to subside, as if a heavy burden had just been lifted from his chest after the silver bullet was removed. Even so, the Alpha's body appeared very weak, helpless on the cold floor. Luisa immediately approached him anxiously.
"Are you alright?" Luisa asked softly.
The man opened his eyes with difficulty, gazing at Luisa with a probing look. "What... what did you do to me?" his voice sounded hoarse, holding doubt over the strangeness he had just experienced.
Luisa fell silent. She could not answer because her own tongue was paralyzed by the same confusion.
"You'd better lie down. I will treat you," Luisa finally said, trying to change the subject. She helped the man lie down carefully.
At that moment, Luisa froze, staring at the wound on the man's chest. The wound was still gaping, appearing blackened and throbbing due to the silver poison that had nested there. Even though the bullet was gone, the remnants of the poison seemed to still be trying to eat away at the Alpha's life from within.
Luisa was overwhelmed with confusion. A low dose of wolfsbane should have helped heal the wound, although it would take a long time. However, she did not have any in stock at her hut; she would have to venture into the deepest heart of the forest to find it, and this man did not have that much time.
"Your blood, Luisa... your blood..."
A strange whisper suddenly echoed in her ears, cold and urgent, until Luisa's vision slowly blurred. Her eyes turned into glowing silver-gold, and she lost the light of her consciousness. Luisa's body seemed to be moved by an invisible force; she suddenly grabbed a knife and slashed her own palm without hesitation until blood slowly began to flow from it.
Luisa pressed her bleeding wound directly onto the blackened wound on the Alpha's chest. The man groaned heavily as Luisa's blood came into contact with the silver poison. Once again, Luisa's body convulsed violently as if becoming a vessel for overflowing electrical energy.
An explosion of silver-gold light struck the room again. That tremendous force flung everything around it, until finally Luisa's body collapsed helplessly on top of the Alpha's body. Silence then fell over the hut as both of them lost consciousness.
Beneath Luisa's unconscious body, a miracle occurred. The gaping wound on the Alpha's chest, which had previously blackened from the silver poison, slowly closed. The damaged skin tissue fused back together with impossible speed, as if time had been reversed. In just a matter of seconds, the Alpha's chest was restored, whole and clean, without leaving a single scar or defect, as if the silver bullet had never pierced him.
Just before dawn broke, the Alpha's body stirred. He awoke with an extraordinary sensation; his body felt completely healed. However, his vision was still dark, obscured by a thin mist that prevented him from seeing clearly due to temporary blindness caused by the enemy's attack.
"Why does it no longer hurt?" he murmured in wonder. His fingers felt his chest, searching for the bullet hole or scar tissue that should have been there. However, he found no wound there, as if his chest had never been touched by that deadly metal.
At the same time, Luisa awoke with a small groan. Her entire body felt crushed and stiff, as if her bones had just been broken and then reattached. While holding her throbbing head, she tried to gather her consciousness.
"What did you do to me?!" the Alpha asked, his voice thundering with confusion.
Luisa was stunned. Her tongue felt paralyzed as she saw that the man's chest had fully closed without a single flaw. Reflexively, she reached out and touched that broad chest, making sure that her eyes were not deceiving her. This was truly unreasonable; silver poison that had entered the bloodstream of their kind usually took months to heal, and that was if they survived. Yet, what was before her now seemed like a miracle she could hardly believe.
Luisa was about to pull her hand away. However, suddenly, the Alpha grabbed Luisa's arm and yanked her roughly until the woman fell prostrate right in front of him.
"Who are you?!" the Alpha growled. His glowing red eyes stared wildly, trying to capture the figure before him even though his vision was still blurry. He brought his face close, inhaling deeply the scent of Luisa's body. He had never smelled such a unique scent among his kind, but his wolf instinct gave the answer that the woman before him was a Pariah.
