CHAPTER TWO

ZARIA’S POV

I let out a deep sigh as I stared at the ceiling.

“How would I tell Gwen about this absurd situation? Would she peel my skin off?” I muttered to myself.

I stayed on the mat, lost in thought with my eyes locked on the ceiling, until something splashed!

Ice-cold water landed in my face, drenching me.

“Ahh,” I groaned, sitting up, only to see my stepsister’s angry face glaring at me.

“That is to wake your lazy ass up, get the fuck up, today’s my wedding day” She yelled, with the makeup of her face half done.

Ugh, I got off the bed sluggishly, dripping wet, thank goodness it was just a cup of water and not a bucket of water, that would have increased my laundry.

“Get down immediately and prepare for the Alpha’s arrival,” She yelled and walked out of my room.

I quickly changed my clothes and rolled up my old mat. I sleep on a mat even when my father isn't wretched.

The day Jenny came into my life, she took my bed and told her father that she was training me to be independent, that my mother spoiled me too much, and he agreed.

“ZARIA ADAM” Gwen yelled my name.

“Get down here immediately, why do you act so slow,”

I ran downstairs and joined the maids with the preparation of the wedding, even though I knew it wouldn't hold.

Just sooner than I expected, Elder Finn came into the living room with a grin on his face, and behind him were Max, his mother, and other noble men of the pack.

Sweat gathered on my forehead, and I ran to hide my face in my room.

“Fuck, what do I do?” I muttered to myself, pacing around the room, I sincerely don't know what to do at this moment.

When I heard Gwen’s scream, I knew the secret I had been hiding had just spilled.

My breathing became unsteady, and I began to hear Gwen’s angry footsteps coming closer to my room.

She pushed my room door open wide, banging the door against the wall.

My stomach twisted in fear, and I felt the air around me drop. She was right behind me, I could feel her presence.

With a slow movement, I turned around and faced her burning gaze.

Her mouth was pressed in a thin line and her nose flared, I could hear her angry breath, her eyes burned through me, I could feel it.

“You bastard, you took my man,” She screamed and gripped my hair tightly, so that my scalp burned.

“It wasn't my fault,” I said, trying to push her off my hair.

“You are not going to win this, I would rip your skin away and make sure you regret ever being alive,” She threatened, tightening her grip on my hair.

“ENOUGH” My dad yelled, and that was the first time he ever spoke for me.

Gwen flung me to the floor and glared at my dad.

“Mark is trying to save his sorry ass daughter,” Gwen scoffed, but my father ignored her.

“Arrange your hair, Zaria, the Alpha and the noblemen request your presence,” He said and to Gwen “Get the hell out of her room and let her prepare”

Gwen gave me a long, distasteful look before leaving my room and Dad followed.

I got off the ground, quickly packed my hair in a messy bun and slipped into a black dress, and went to the living room, where the Alpha and noble men were sitting.

I could feel Gwen’s and Jenny’s eyes on me even though I tried my best to ignore them.

“Miss Zaria Adam, I witnessed the Alpha slip a wedding band into your fingers, do you agree, if you do not, swear by the name of the moon goddess,” Elder Finn said, standing to his feet.

“I agree, the Alpha slipped a wedding band on me last night at the ceremonial hall,” I said, almost in a whisper.

“Does his Grace agree?” Elder Finn asked, looking at Max.

Max stood to his feet and everyone bowed, excluding me though, he is a fucking bully and I would never submit to him.

“I agree, I thought she was my bride because she was wearing the wedding dress that belonged to my bride,” He said and everyone gasped.

My blood boiled, because he is making it sound like I seduced him, which I didn't.

“She seduced me,” He yelled, and my eyes became watery. I hated myself for being too emotional at critical times.

“You lying scumbag, you were drunk, I didn't come unto you, you came unto me” I yelled.

The living room became silent, I just called the Alpha of the pack a scumbag, where did I get such confidence from?

“You are speaking to the Alpha, Zaria, apologize” My father yelled.

With a heavy gulp, I looked into Max's dark wicked eyes, “My apologies, your grace,” I said with a bow.

He looked at me disgustedly, before turning his face to Gwen.

“I can't marry any other woman aside from my betrothed and mate,” He said.

“That is against the rules of the pack, even the Alpha isn't above any rule, we must abide by the rules at all times,” An elderly man objected, he is a noble man, and I'm certain he is the Beta.

“I don't want to get married to you anyway, you are arrogant and proud,” I sneered at Max

Elder Finn got up once more, after noticing the uproar that was about to unfold “If you two want to call off this union, that should not be a problem, according to the rules, the final wedding ritual can be called off after one year of trial marriage,” He said and my mouth fell in shock.

“One year?” Max and I asked simultaneously and Elder Finn just nodded his head.

I turned to look at the arrogant Alpha, and instantly I decided that spending one year with him would be torture.

“Get your things ready Zaria, you are about to be the Luna,” My dad said, and I blacked out.
