Chapter 3 Chapter 3
Remy Clemson
I tried running, but I kept getting pushed from one side to the other.
"Move!"
"Move!"
They kept pushing me until I ended up falling to the ground and was trampled a few times. I was about to get up when...
"Ouch!" I screamed in pain as someone stomped on my finger and ran off.
Finally, they were all gone. I shouldn't have tried catching up with them. I massaged my finger and staggered to my feet, dusting off my already dirty clothes, which were now covered in mud from the forest.
I don't understand how a gigantic mansion would be situated in the middle of a huge forest.
Noticing that I was the only one left in this lonely forest, fear suddenly caught up with me. I glanced behind me nervously and took to my heels. The rule was to find a code. I guess I need to think practically. Since everyone is running in the same direction, it's going to be hard to find a code, and even if you do, you'll end up fighting someone to keep it.
Honestly, I've never fought in my life before. I barely have enough energy for myself. If I end up fighting with someone, I'll probably wake up in a hospital bed, if that person is kind enough. So, to avoid that, I decided to take another route, one completely different from the one everyone else was taking.
It was calm, but as I ventured deeper into the forest, I could hear screams and thuds. So I decided to run closer and see what was happening, only to abruptly halt because of the scene before me.
My eyes widened in shock.
It was Anna and Jessica, the two popular best friends in my class, and right now they were fighting and beating each other to a pulp because of the white card Jessica was holding.
"Bitch, give that to me!" Anna growled, pulling Jessica's hair.
"Never! I got it first!" Jessica grabbed Anna by the neck, pushing her into the mud.
I was about to leave quietly when I stumbled, alerting them to my presence. They immediately stopped and turned toward me.
"You want to join the fight?" Anna threw me a glare.
Thanks to the moonlight shining in our direction, we could clearly see each other's faces.
I smiled nervously, clasping my hands together and slightly bowing my head.
"No, no. It's fine. You two can continue."
I immediately ran off, hoping they wouldn't come after me. I didn't stop running until I was far away from them. I looked back to make sure no one was following me, and finally, I could breathe in peace.
I leaned against the huge tree beside me as I panted heavily.
Damn, is it really that bad that they have to fight each other? How the hell am I going to find a code in a huge forest like this with this kind of competition?
"Hoooowwwwllll..."
I heard a low growl, and immediately I knew a mighty wolf was close by. But I thought we were meant to search for the code in our human forms.
Wait...
The Alpha brothers.
I heard a rumor that they are only in their wolf forms while inside the forest.
Could this be...
No... no...
I gulped nervously, and the next thing that happened caught me by surprise.
I felt a presence behind me.
I swear I could hear the soft rustling of the grass. Someone was here.
I balled my fists in fear. My whole body was literally trembling. I could feel my heart pounding all the way down to the pit of my stomach.
Slowly, I began to tilt my head backward, hoping it was just my imagination and that there was nothing there.
But as my head turned halfway, I came face-to-face with a giant wolf, its green eyes shining like daylight.
Startled, I fell to the ground.
"Hehe..." I laughed nervously, crawling backward as I watched the huge wolf advance with slow, calculated steps.
Thousands of thoughts ran through my head.
Am I going to die today?
I can't die in poverty.
At least I haven't gone on a boat ride yet.
"Hey, hey, you have to listen to me. I swear I didn't want to be here. I didn't sign up through the secret email. I don't even have it, and I don't know how I got the invitation to be here. I swear I wanted to ignore it, but they said I would lose my scholarship if I did. Please, you need to let me go. I'm not after any code. I just wanted to keep my scholarship and survive. I can't die this way, please. I promise if you let me go, I'm going to do anything you want."
I yapped everything at once with my eyes tightly shut.
I waited for a few minutes, and when I didn't feel any pain from being bitten or attacked, I slowly opened my eyes.
The wolf was gone.
Huh?
What happened?
I searched around me, but it was nowhere in sight.
That's when I noticed a white envelope lying on my body.
What's this?
I tore it open.
Inside was a white piece of paper with four numbers.
Wait...
Could this be the code?
There was something else in the envelope.
A handwritten note.
I pulled it out and read,
North Villa tomorrow by 7 PM. Remember, you promised to do anything I want.
Now my own words have been used against me.
But did I really just get the code without stressing?
A smile spread across my face.
It's definitely one of the Alpha brothers.
Could it be that one of them likes me and is worried about me
Oh my gosh...
Who could it be?
Definitely not Kael. That cold-hearted monster would never want to have anything to do with a commoner like me.
It also can't be Kieran. He's too quiet, and I've never seen him with a girl.
Wait...
Between Zayn and Ryker, who could it be?
I looked up to the heavens with my hands clasped together.
I know the Alpha brothers are dangerous, but my Ryker is an exception, and with him, I can tolerate the rest of them.
Please, heaven, let it be my Ryker.
Please...
I beg you.
