When I woke up in the hospital, the room was so quiet that all I could hear was the rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor.

Marcus sat by my bedside, gripping my hand tightly. He had changed into a clean suit, but the bloodshot eyes betrayed the fact that he hadn't slept all night.

"You're awake......
