Chapter 2 What, Five Little Rascals?
"Yvonne Wesley, just you wait! One day, I will exact revenge on you for everything!" Rachel gritted her teeth and ran downstairs.
Realizing that she was running away, Yvonne immediately shouted, "Grab her, quick! Don't let her rat us out to your Dad!"
Six years later...
By the window of a cafe...
A man sat opposite a woman. The man, who was wearing a pair of sunglasses, wasn't exactly handsome, but was still tolerably good-looking. At a height of 5.9 feet, he was quite tall. According to Rachel's best friend, he was a capable worker. Being the assistant general manager of a company, he owned both a car and a house. His monthly salary was between $20,000 and $30,000.
She had asked Rachel to seize this opportunity because of this.
"What does Miss Neal usually like to do?" The man seemed quite pleased with Rachel. She was good-looking and quite dignified.
Rachel's long flowing hair cascaded over her shoulders as she sat with her legs elegantly crossed. She looked like a lady from a rich family. She heard him and answered in a soft, reedy voice, "I don't have any special hobbies. When I have time, I'm usually at home practicing the piano, doing flower arrangement, or taking afternoon tea. Of course, I occasionally play some sports, like golf, which I enjoy. As for my character, you must have surely noticed this, Mr. Coleman. I'm someone who warms up to people slowly, as I'm the gentle and virtuous type."
...
"Yes, Miss Neal, you seem very good-tempered. I didn't know you shared the same hobbies as me! I also like playing golf. If I am free, we can have a game together, but... I'm often quite busy with work, and I don't cook. Miss Neal, I wonder if..."
"If I can cook?" Rachel raised her hand and almost slammed the table brashly. She wanted to yell, "Why don't you go find yourself a nanny, you old -fashioned male chauvinist pig? It's already the 21st century! And you're looking for a woman who can cook?"
Not far away, a girl and a lady warned her with their eyes, and her anger vanished in an instant. She conveniently withdrew her raised hand and placed it on her hair, fingering it coquettishly. "I'm a great cook. I usually cook whenever my relatives or friends visit my home. They claim that I cook better than many restaurant chefs! They insist that I cook for them each time they visit me. It's very annoying."
"Splat!" The girl and the lady almost spat out the water they had just drunk.
The man opposite Rachel stared fixedly at her. "A beautiful and elegant lady who can cook. A prized catch!" he thought to himself.
"Um... what about housework? Can you do that?"
Rachel wanted to roll her eyes. She asked herself, "Why would I need you if I could do everything myself, you moron?"
"Yes, I clean all three floors of our house, more than 3000 square feet. It's so spotlessly clean that you can see your reflection on the floor. I like to be clean and have an obsession with cleanliness. I really can't stand dirty and messy rooms."
"That's great, great." The man kept nodding. "I wonder if you would be so nice as to invite me to your house, Miss Neal? Could you cook for me?"
"Does that count as a date? A date at my house?" Rachel wondered.
"It depends on when you're free, Mr. Coleman. I'm available anytime." She no longer had the right to refuse another suitor. "But before you come over, you must first give me a call, because I have to throw those five little rascals out. They don't like strangers in the house..."
"Wait, wait. What five little rascals?"
"Hmm?" Rachel blinked. "Didn't Nell Allen tell you that I have five sons? They're actually six already! In another 10 years or so, they will all buy a car, a house, and get married..."
"Splat!" The man spurted out the coffee in his mouth. Fortunately, Rachel was agile. She picked up the menu next to her and used it to block the spurted coffee so that it would not splash on her face.
The atmosphere suddenly became awkward.
"Hahaha..." There was a sudden burst of laughter upstairs. Rachel looked up, but saw no one. She wondered if someone was laughing at her.
Well, a man was indeed laughing at her!
A man stood on the second floor, his handsome face contorted mirthfully as he walked back to his cafe seat. Slapping the table, he burst into uncontrollable laughter again as tears trickled down his cheeks.
"Well, well, what a lesson! So you can actually reject a man like that! So direct and rude. Just say that you have five boys, and you can scare the sh*t out of him! A pity a man can't use the same trick. Otherwise, whenever my grandma introduced me to a girl, I could scare that girl off with this trick. I wouldn't need a new excuse each time!"
Troy reclined indolently on the sofa chair, squinting his profound and narrow eyes. His cold and handsome face was simply irresistible. Glancing at the other man indifferently, he did not find the situation funny at all, as he pursed his thin, crimson lips. "Doesn't your grandma only make you date girls you already know? And you don't know if you have any children? Are they as blind as you?"
Brian Graham was speechless.
