Chapter 4 Each with a Different Personality
Her eldest son had called her childish! After suffering this grievous blow, Rachel looked at her second son, Liam. Liam and Brad were so different. Liam was a humorous and glib talker. When he saw his mother hurt, however, he did not comfort her. Instead, he noticed her skirt.
"My lovely Miss Neal, you went on a blind date again?" The little fella walked around her, scrutinizing her from head to toe. "I didn't expect you to fuss over this date. You've finally put on a skirt!"
Rachel was embarrassed. "You little rascal, what nonsense are you blabbering? Lots of men want to date a gentle and beautiful lady like your mommy. Do I have to go on a blind date?"
The corners of Brad's mouth twitched slightly. "My mommy, gentle...?" He wondered to himself if he heard wrong.
"Hey, no one's laughing at you, Mommy. You shouldn't be embarrassed to admit it." Liam tugged Rachel's skirt. "Besides, Mommy, you look pretty in this skirt. You should dress like this more often. I'm sure that after this, many men will be lining up
for your hand."
Rachel was speechless.
"Well, never mind if you don't have any suitors. When I grow up, I will support and protect you. I'll give you anything you want. You can have a house, a car, and as many bouquets of flowers as you like a piece of cake!"
He had a silver tongue. She was touched despite knowing he was just bragging.
Rachel was on an emotional roller-coaster ride.
She looked at the handsome Jon Neal, her third son. He was a very obedient child. He had never lied as a boy. Always the upright, proper, and dashing gentleman. Moreover, Jon was extremely accomplished on piano. He had been hand-picked and tutored on the instrument by a phenomenal pianist since he was three.
"Jon Baby, do you think what your Second Brother said will come true?"
Liam coughed dryly, signaling his younger brother to be tactful and give him some
face. But...
"From how I see it, the probability at present is zero. But if he studies hard and earns a PhD in 20 years' time, the probability will rise to 45%," Jon said in a serious voice.
"Hahaha..." Rachel was thoroughly tickled. Jon Baby was so unique. Even if his brother ended up with a doctorate, he would only increase the probability to 45%. That was not even 50%!
Liam could not stand it anymore and complained to Brad. "Look, Jon isn't giving me face."
"Who am I?" Brad stared coldly at Liam.
Liam answered, "... Brad Neal!"
He would only call Brad by his full name. Liam had always wondered if he was really the eldest son. Mommy must have confused their order at birth, since they looked like two peas in a pod!
Well, no... there was also a third brother. The three of them looked identical! "The probability is really about 30%!" Brad lowered the percentage again. Liam was speechless.
"Forget it. I won't argue with you two anymore. One is so aloof, the other so slow to get going. It's beneath me to argue with the two of you ”I'm too smart and adorable."
Brad was speechless.
So was Jon.
The likelihood of a narcissist succeeding was less than 20%!
Rachel massaged her forehead. How did she ever give birth to five boys with such different personalities, when her own character was so unlike theirs?
"Mommy! Liam's just a bootlicker, but there's still me!" Ryan stepped out. "My teacher said she would help me hold an exhibition. My paintings will be the talk of the town when they're exhibited! So don't worry about money. You can take care of our sister at home after we go to school."
"Really?" Rachel was extremely excited. "If your teacher is so certain of your talent, you must be a wonderful artist, Ryan Baby."
"Yes! His paintings are amazingly abstract!" Liam said exaggeratedly, "I can't figure out what he's drawing."
"Of course you can't. Only true artists can." Ryan held his head high, puffing out his chest.
"Okay, okay." Rachel did not quite understand art, but she knew she had to support her young sons. She would support them in whatever fields they pursued. In her opinion, a child at six was in the most need of his parents' support.
"Mommy, I'm participating in a competition soon," Wes said. "First at the school level, then at the inter-city level. And finally, at the national level. Once that
happens, we'll have a lot of prize money."
Rachel went over and kissed her Wes Baby, fondling his small head. She did not feel sorry for her other sons in whatever they did, but she always felt sorry for Wes. She would often see bruises on this little guy's body. They must have been really painful!
"Wes Baby, just treat it as casual exercise and don't make too much of it. In fact, you don't have to participate in any competition. Mommy doesn't want to see you fight with other boys. What if you get hurt?"
She had seen it on TV. Although it was only light contact sparring, Wes would still inevitably get hurt.
A few boys had been accidentally kicked and ended up with broken bones.
Wes shook his small head and said, "Mommy, men can't be cowards. That's what you always teach us. Besides, I can't protect you unless I'm an awesome fighter! You must have a reliable man with you, which you don't have right now."
"How depressing!" Rachel sighed in her heart.
"What about your Uncle Bobby?"
"Him?" Wes said disdainfully. "He might not even beat me!"
Rachel was at a loss for words.
"Mommy, I'm going to school now," said Brad. He waved his little hand at Rachel and left coldly without looking back.
