Chapter 2 The Revenge Begins After The Alter
Aurora's POV
The kidnapper's laughter crawled on my skin.
"Looks like he's made his choice," the gun's tip dug between the curtains of my hair, "...too bad it wasn't you." I bit into my bottom lip, tears completely blurring my vision; an explosive sound followed by a numbing pain I'd never felt before.
I had just been shot dead.
My fate was decided by a man who claimed he'd love me forever.
Clearly his 'forever' had an expiry date.
I seemed to be floating through the darkness, carried only by the flaming urge for revenge.
There was nothing I didn't give to that man; my heart, my sanity...even my blood to save his first love's life...all for nothing.
If only I had another chance...I wouldn't love him blindly again.
I opened my eyes and gasped at what I saw, not the metallic bloodstain warehouse that smelt of ruin and rotten hope. Instead, I was below the floral gazebo, my wedding gown still pristinely white with not a smear of dirt or stain of blood to be found.
And most importantly, there wasn't a hole in my head.
This was either a dream or somehow... Somehow I'd been reborn on the day of my wedding.
Three days before my kidnapping.
I pinched myself to make sure that it was real, not caring how the guests whispered between each other in concern, but their attention- and mine- then a phone ringing ripped between the whispers and tension by a phone ringing.
And there was Nolan on his phone during a moment I had dreamt of for years; our vows.
" Liliana.. Please talk to me. What’s wrong...? Okay... Just stay put."
He stuffed his phone into his pocket and looked straight at me.
" Aurora, Liliana is having an episode. She can't come to the wedding by herself."
A lump formed in my throat. In my previous life, this was when I broke down in tears, begging him not to leave, because I knew he would.
In response, he had sneered at me.
"Why does everything always have to be about you? Can't you be considerate for Liliana just once?"
That was our entire relationship,
He was the perfect Partner, until Liliana needed him. It didn't matter if we were on a date, cruise, or celebrating yet another milestone in our relationship. The second she called with that fake whimpering voice of hers, He was dropping everything and rushing to her side
I'd always beg him to stay, but he never failed to go to her.
What gave me false hope was that he also never stayed with her.
He would come back to me with everything between poetry and apologies, and before I knew it, I had melted right back into his arms again.
I told myself that in the end he loved me.
But the b*sterd had made his choice in his previous life.
The one he always told me I shouldn't worry about, Who currently was pregnant with his child.
"Why are you telling me?" I asked him, coming to the present," If she needs you, then you should go to her side, right? It's not like anything I will say will stop you."
To this, he gave me a quizzical expression. This wasn't the reaction that he was used to; normally, this was when I started begging and clinging pathetically.
But the woman who adored him without measure had quite literally died.
Standing in her place right now was someone who was burning with so much rage and bottled-up spite.
He glanced at his silver wristwatch.
" There is no need for you to pretend as if you are not bothered by this. Don't worry, I'll be back in like 15 minutes, okay?"
I snickered from the corner of my lips.
In my previous life, he had been gone for three hours.
It had been the longest three hours of my life. Everybody, from a family member to an acquaintance, asked questions and looked at me with stares of pity that made me want to dig into the floor and bury myself alive.
I left him endless calls, and it was only at my 28th call that he finally sent a short text back.
" Turns out Liliana was in the worst states than I thought. I can't leave her side; we will have to just postpone the wedding. Can you just take care of that? And apologize to our guests too."
He had been so casual about it, because he knew that even as he was spitting in my face, I wouldn't so much as entertain the thought of leaving him.
But that moment really pushed me to my limit. Still dressed in my wedding gown, I stormed through our garden venue and Stuffed The overflowing train into a car, driving over to the sleek apartment that he had rented for Juliana.
She answered the door wearing nothing but one of his t-shirts that she'd stockpiled over the years.
"Aurora? What are you doing here?"
Her innocent little act sent a spark in my brain.
"Don't you dare play dumb, you homewrecking b****. Today was my wedding; couldn't you just act normal for once? Can't I have my man to myself even today?"
I was shaking at this point, tears flowing down my cheeks that smeared at my makeup, and she dared to cry too.
She entered the apartment; I followed after her, the smell of Nolan's Cologne driving me up a wall. I kept berating her, and now that I look back on it, it was not my finest moment.
The only reason that she was able to insert herself into the relationship was that Nolan stepped away from me and gave her all the space she needed to squeeze herself in.
It was in the middle of our altercation masked Kidnapper entered her apartments with a gun trained on both of us. Neither of us dared to move, and He came forward, stabbing each one of us with his sedative that made us pass out, and when I woke up, it was in that Warehouse.
He never mentioned what specific grievance against Nolan was. But it was smoldering, enough that he tormented us day in and day out, sending Nolan Videos with sadistic glee.
There was no way I was walking back into that again, so as I watched the man I thought would be my husband leave me for his mistress, I did not attempt to warn him of the future.
The tables were now in my favor, and the best cards set in my deck.
Everyone expected me to collapse like I always did, but this time I did something different.
I approached his older brother in the front row of guests.
Liam Stone.
Calm, cold, and untouchable.
"What would you say to being my groom?"
