Chapter 3 Marriage Registry

Originally, he just felt the room was too stuffy, so he asked Finn to take him out for a walk.

Who knew someone would latch onto him.

Benjamin parted his thin lips, ready to set things straight with her.

He had no intention of getting married, nor would he ever get married. She should give up.

But before he could say a word, he felt a sudden cool and soft touch on his lips.

Benjamin's body went rigid, as if something had exploded in his mind.

He looked down and saw Sophia gazing up at him with her big, watery eyes, her rosy lips still slightly puckered.

There was a faint, sweet milky taste lingering on his lips from Sophia. Benjamin's eyes darted away in a panic, and the tips of his ears, hidden under his hair, turned red.

The blush spread quickly from his ears.

Benjamin had always kept people at arm's length, his demeanor cold and indifferent, never having entertained thoughts of romance.

All the doctors had said he wouldn't live past twenty-five, born weak, prone to madness when his condition flared up.

Who would want to be with someone who had no future?

Yet here was Sophia, boldly clinging to him, with not a trace of fear in her eyes.

And she had even kissed him!

Strangely, he didn't feel repulsed. Instead, a peculiar emotion stirred within him.

Benjamin lowered his gaze, hiding the tumultuous emotions.

He thought he might be losing his mind.

Marriage was just an excuse to fend off Preston. How could it be real?

Sophia had no idea what Benjamin was thinking. She tilted her chin up, speaking in a haughty tone, "I don't care. I kissed you, so you're mine now!"

Seeing Benjamin unresponsive, Sophia tugged at his sleeve, looking aggrieved. "You said you'd be with me forever. We even pinky-swore!"

When did he...

Benjamin looked at Sophia, as if something was surfacing in his mind.

He suddenly noticed a black cord around Sophia's neck.

With a gentle hook of his long fingers, he pulled out the pendant hidden under her collar.

It was a half-moon-shaped white jade pendant, made of the finest mutton-fat jade.

The pendant still carried Sophia's warmth, and it felt oddly hot in his palm.

He hurriedly took out his own pendant from around his neck and compared them.

The two pieces fit together perfectly, like they were made for each other.

He suddenly smiled, looking at Sophia with a softness even he hadn't noticed.

He had searched for her for so many years, without a single clue.

Who would have thought she would come to him today?

It was laughable that he hadn't recognized her immediately, and even wanted to send her away.

"When did you recognize me?"

Sophia held up one finger, "The moment I saw you!"

She tilted her chin up, looking proud.

She was just like she was when she was a child.

Benjamin felt something hit him in the chest, sending a warm, tingling ripple through him.

He smiled slightly, a rare hint of joy in his usually calm eyes.

But then he thought of Finn's introduction of Sophia, and his face darkened.

She had lived outside for over a decade, finally found her family, only to face the harsh reality of being married off to a dying man.

It was clear she hadn't had a good time with the Brown Family.

He asked, "Do you have your documents with you?"

He had changed his mind.

If the Browns treated her poorly, he would keep her by his side.

Before he died, he would protect her as best as he could, not letting her suffer anymore.

With the White Family's name, no one would dare bully her again!

"I have them!" Sophia quickly opened her bag.

When Robert Davis found her, he had arranged for her to have independent identification documents. After the Browns found her, no one remembered to handle her identification.

In hindsight, it saved a lot of trouble.

Her identification was just a single page with her name on it.

Sophia smiled shyly, but her tone was excited.

Benjamin's fingers lightly brushed over the spot with Sophia's name, his expression unreadable.

He leaned down, his long arm resting on the car window, trapping the petite Sophia in his embrace. "Sophia, look at me."

"What?" Sophia swallowed, obediently looking at the handsome face so close to hers, her heartbeat speeding up uncontrollably.

That was too close.

Benjamin's eyes were deep, his thin lips moving slightly.

Seeing Sophia's stunned expression, looking scared, he softened his tone and asked, "The Browns used you to make a deal with the White Family. I'll give you a chance to back out. If you say you're unwilling, I won't force you."

"Once we get married, there's no turning back."

Sophia shook her head firmly, "Only a fool would regret it!"

Her husband was so handsome!

She couldn't let any other woman have him!

Though Hayden was cold-blooded, Benjamin's looks were unmatched.

Sophia tilted her chin up, openly admiring Benjamin in front of her, swallowing involuntarily.

Her husband was just too delicious.

She wanted to kiss him!

But before Sophia could lean in, Benjamin straightened up first.

Sophia pouted in disappointment, her cherry-red lips expressing her dissatisfaction.

Benjamin noticed all her expressions, a hint of amusement in his eyes. "Finn, to the marriage registry."

Finn's mouth dropped open in shock, as if he couldn't believe what he was hearing.

He asked uncertainly, "Mr. White, did I hear that right? You want to go to the marriage registry?"

"Drive." Benjamin's words were concise. He took out his phone from his jacket pocket and called his assistant, Chase Hays.

About twenty minutes later, the car stopped in front of the marriage registry.

Chase was already there, and he walked over when he saw the familiar car. "Mr. White, I brought the documents you asked for."

Benjamin expressionlessly took them, glancing over his documents and the prenuptial agreement, his deep eyes gradually warming. "Look it over carefully. If everything's fine, sign it."

The prenuptial agreement was something Benjamin had Chase print in a hurry.

But Sophia seemed sleepy, her eyelids drooping.

She leaned on Benjamin's shoulder, nodding slightly.

Hearing Benjamin's words, she pouted, "I don't want to read it! Honey, can you read it to me?"

She buried her face in Benjamin's firm arm, rubbing against it, her eyes closed, waiting for Benjamin to read to her.

Chase, looking through the car window, saw her clinging to Benjamin's arm and even acting spoiled, and was too shocked to speak.

It had only been a few hours since he last saw Benjamin. Where did he find such a beautiful girl?

The most shocking thing was, Benjamin, who had always been indifferent to women, was now indulgent, not showing a hint of impatience!
