Chapter 2

I got home and went to my room to freshen up. I came downstairs, and Mom had already prepared dinner.

"Thanks, Mom. Thanks for this." I said, and she nodded.

I was stuffing my mouth with food when my dad walked in.

"What type of ring do you like? Do you like Diamonds?" He asked, and I was taken aback.

"Are you still after me to get married?" I asked, and he scoffed.

"You that you're already a married woman. It's just left for you to start wearing a ring and an extravagant wedding." He said.

"What do you mean? I've told you I'm not getting married to anyone." I yelled.

"You better talk to your daughter. Who wouldn't want to marry into the Presley family? Who?" He glared at my mother.

"What? When you say Presly, do you mean Xavier Presly?" I asked, and he nodded.

"Have you met him already? That means you both are meant to be." He laughed.

"I can't marry him. That guy is mentally deranged. I met him today, and he acted like a mad person." I yelled, and he rested his hand on his waist.

"I know you don't want to marry him, but don't call the poor boy mad. He's an ideal husband. Everyone wants Xavier Presley. Do you know how many girls are waiting in line for them to see Xavier?" He said.

"I'm not interested, Mom. I met him today, and he held my hand and started calling me Lilith. See what he did to me." I showed my red, swollen wrist to them.

"He did this to you?" My mom finally flared up.

"Don't mind her. She's probably lying. You'll marry him by force, and I'm not ready to argue with you anymore. I'll tell his dad you said diamond. Get me my food, woman." He ordered, and my mom stood up and served him immediately.

I dropped my fork and went to my room

"Avery! Avery!! Come back and eat." My mom cried, but I went to my room and shut the door.

"Why is this happening? Why?" I asked myself.

"Am I going to marry a mentally deranged person? What if he kills me in the house? What if he hurts me?" I asked myself.

"God." I tugged at my hair.

I lay on the bed and couldn't remember when I slept off.

The next morning

My dad barged into my room, and I flinched. I rubbed my sleepy eyes.

"Good morning, Dad." I greeted.

"There's no time for that. Go and take your bath, we have to go somewhere important." He said.

"You barged into my room early in the morning, and you're telling me to go take a bath. Where are you taking me to?" I asked.

"I'm taking you to see my aunt." He eyed me, and I stood up.

"What are we going to do there?" I asked, and he eyed me distastefully.

"Privacy. If you want me to get ready, you'll leave my room." I said, and he left my room.

"Twenty minutes." He yelled.

I took my brush, brushed my teeth then scrubbed with my sponge. I finished and dried my body. I applied my body cream and wore a navy blue gown and black sandals. I wore my glasses and took my tiny black purse.

I went downstairs, and my dad stood up.

"Let's go." He commanded.

"Won't I take breakfast?" I asked.

"She'll make breakfast for us. Let's go." He said.

We got into my dad's car, and he zoomed off. After battling with the traffic, we arrived at an enormous house. The security guard opened the door immediately when they saw my dad.

"Is this aunt's house?" I asked, but he ignored me.

"My aunt is this rich, and we haven't enjoyed anything from her?" My subconscious asked.

We drove into a beautiful and spacious compound. There was a garden with lots of beautiful flowers and a huge fountain in the middle of the compound. There was a huge statue of a dragon, then water pouring out of its mouth. Lots of cars were parked in the parking lots, and bodyguards in their black suits were all standing at ease in their different positions.

"Let's go in." My dad said. I was admiring the whole place.

We walked in and I met an old man wearing a black robe in the sitting room. His hair was grey and he looked young for his age. He was holding a glass cup filled with red wine.

He stood up when he saw us.

"Why didn't you tell me you were coming, Mills?" He asked.

"Just wanted to surprise you." My dad said.

"This is embarrassing. Let me go change." The old man said and went upstairs.

Two maids in their uniforms walked up to us.

"What would you like to eat, ma'am?" One of them asked.

"I'm okay," I said.

"Bread and tea would be enough." My dad requested, and they scurried off.

The man came back and he wore a white T-shirt and navy blue trousers.

He sat and smiled at me.

"She's so beautiful. I'm sure he'll like her." He complimented

"Thank you, sir," I said shyly.

"Where is he? Let him come and see his wife-to-be." My dad announced.

"Wife to be? You tricked me, Dad," I glared at him.

I stood up and saw someone coming down the stairs. The stairs were golden. He was wearing black joggers and a white shirt, accompanied by black slippers. He looked so cold and handsome. He has distinct features too, but I didn't see his face well. I was trying to recollect my memories.

I guess I've seen him before.

He came downstairs and grabbed a cup from the dining room.

"Xavier! Your wife-to-be is here." His dad called.

"What? Xavier Presly. The lunatic!" I commented, and his dad looked at me.

He turned, and our eyes met.

"Lilith!" He called, and the glass cup he was holding fell.

"I'm not Lilith. I've said that several times." I yelled.

He rushed to me and hugged me tightly.

"You are my wife-to-be? This is great. Superb dad. I'm ready to get married." He said, and his dad was surprised,, just like me.

"You are ready? No objection?" His dad gave a surprised look.

"Yes. I want to marry her. She's my girlfriend's dad. We've been dating ever since we were young. Remember Lilith Meyers." He said.

I just stood there with my mouth wide agape. He shook his head thrice and then scratched his hair.

"Are you okay?" I asked as I moved back.

"I'm okay. I'm very much okay." He said very fast.

"Do you want milk and doughnuts? Mac and bean soup?" He asked.

I looked at his dad, and he stood up quickly and held his hands.

"Isn't he funny?" He laughed.

"I'm funny. I'm happy. My Lilith is here." He scratched his hair again and held my hand tightly.

"Dad! Can't you see he is mad? He is a lunatic." I yelled, and my dad used his hand to cover my mouth.

Xavier held my dad's hand and punched him in the face.

"Don't touch my Lilith. No one can touch her except me." He warned and literally dragged me upstairs to his room.

"Help! Help!!" I yelled as I was being dragged.
