Chapter 3
Forget whatever happened at the Presley house. I am here walking down the aisle about to marry someone I don't love. Someone I have no feelings for. None of my friends were there. I can't bear to be laughed at, so I didn't invite them. It was just me and my parents and all of the Presly family. The crowd in the church was not very large. If it's to be estimated, there won't be more than fifty people present.
Avery Mills. Will you take Xavier Presley as your husband? For better for worse, for rich and for poor till death do you part." The priest asked.
"Yes," I said, and everyone in the church clapped.
"Xavier Presley, would you take Avery Mills as your wife? For better for worse, for rich and for poor till death do you part?" The priest asked.
"Yes. Yes. Yes." He jumped like a baby who just saw a candy. His smile was contagious.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride." The priest said.
He raised my veil and wanted to kiss me. I moved away from him and smiled.
The wedding was over, and I went to change into another white dress laced with tiny diamonds. I wore silver heels.
"Congratulations, dear." My mother-in-law kissed my cheeks.
"Thank you, ma," I said and moved away from her as fast as I could. I just didn't like her. She has this bad energy, and I'm sure she isn't as good as she looks.
I bumped into my dad, who hugged me tightly.
"You look so beautiful. See what money has done. You don't need to work or worry about anything for the rest of your life. Just remember us at home." He said.
"Where is my mom?" I asked as I searched around for her.
"She's over there." He pointed at a table, and I saw her seated. She was in a pink off-shoulder dress with some pretty blue embroidery on it.
I went to her, and someone grabbed my hand.
"Wifey! Where are you going without me? I've been searching for you." He pouted.
"I just need to see my mom," I said as I struggled to get out of his grip.
"Let's go together then." He said.
We both walked hand in hand to meet my mom. She saw me and stood up. She wanted to hug me, but he blocked her.
"It's my mom." I almost yelled.
He shook his head in disagreement.
"Seriously?" I yelled at him.
"It's okay. I hope you are fine?" My mom questioned.
"How would I be fine when I'm stuck here?" I rolled my eyes.
"I hope you'll be fine there. Just be good, dear." My mom shrieked at the sight of my mother-in-law. I turned and looked at her, we made eye contact. She was staring at me, but when I turned,, she quickly turned away.
"I'll take care of her ma. No one would be able to touch her, I promise." He said, and I raised my nose.
The party was over, and everyone went home. He opened the front door of his Lamborghini for me, and I hopped in. He closed the door, got into the driver's seat, and drove off.
"Would it be safe for him to drive us? What if it starts again?" I interrogated myself.
He drove us to his house.
"Welcome to my house." He said and held my hand.
"Let me take you to my room. I'm sure you are very tired." He said and dragged me upstairs without my consent.
He opened the door to his room, and I was bewildered. The room was very big, and a king-sized bed lay in the middle. The view of the city could be seen from his room. There was a huge television hanging opposite the bed.
"Where's the bathroom?" I inquired. I want to get my shoes off and clean my makeup at least.
My clothes were still at home.
"Over there." He pointed to a white door.
I went and opened the door. The bathroom was also very big. Bigger than my family's living room and dining room combined.
I washed my makeup and removed my shoes. I stretched and yawned. I was feeling very tired, and the gown was already heavy on my body. I wanted to take it off as soon as possible.
I packed my hair in a messy bun and went out.
"Why are you still in your gown?" He asked.
"My clothes haven't been sent here by my mom. I'll go get them tomorrow." I said.
"I already made preparations for your clothes, Lilith. You always underestimate me. I'll go to any length to please you, babe." I said.
"What? My clothes are here already. Thank goodness." I rubbed my forehead.
He opened a glass door in the right corner of the room. Lo and behold, it was a room filled with clothes, bags,, and shoes.
"Is this for me?" I peeped.
"It's all yours, baby girl." He smirked.
"You got all of this for me. This is too much. Why waste money?" I reprimanded.
"Why are you yelling at me? I got all these for you. I did this to make you happy." He yelled, and I took three steps backwards.
"I'm sorry. Calm down." I begged so he wouldn't get more violent toward me.
"I love you, babe. Don't yell at me again. It makes me mad." He became calm all of a sudden and hugged me. I felt irritated. Here I am in a madman's room.
"What if he strangulates me in the night? What if he carries a vase and breaks my head with it?" A series of questions like this flooded my mind.
He released the hug and wanted to kiss me. I moved my lips away.
"Stop!" I said and moved away from him.
I was about to lie on the bed when I remembered I just got married, and there's something all couples do when they get married. I turned, and he was no longer behind me.
"Where did he go all of a sudden?" I asked myself.
I heard water splashing in the bathroom, so I knew he was in. I went into the small room and checked for pyjamas to wear. I found a blue gown and took it out. It had tiny hands and it should be a little above my knees when I wear it.
I decided to use another bathroom instead of waiting for him because I was tired.
I walked downstairs and I almost bumped into a maid when I was admiring the house.
"Sorry, ma. I'm so sorry." She bowed.
"It's okay. Please, where is the guest bathroom?" I interrogated.
She raised her head and furrowed her eyebrows.
"I just want to take a look at it." I lied.
She took me there and I shut the door.
I was bathing when I heard a footstep, so I thought it was the maid. I didn't mind, maybe she was waiting for me to be done, or she wanted to ask me for something.
By the time I finished, I didn't hear the footsteps again. I came out naked, holding my pyjamas and a white towel I had found in the bathroom. I saw a man standing in front of me. He looks like Xavier, but he is shorter and more tan. His eyes were big and he had a little scar under his eyes.
I was shocked. I didn't know what to do. He was smiling and moving closer to me.
"Look who we've got here. Lilith Meyers." He smirked as he walked closer and closer to me.
The door opened, and Xavier came in. My senses came back, and I covered myself immediately.
My heart was pounding, thinking about what Xavier would do or think of me. This is my wedding night for Christ's sake.
